Enjoyed a beautiful Sunday at the park. The park was clean the atmosphere and scenery was good. The event was great for the kids and family, with plenty of food truck options.

Railroad Park is still a nice place. It's age like we all have over the years. I love the outdoors doing this time of year because the foliage is beautiful! Things around RP have changed; primarily the restaurants. You can now grab a donut from HeroS across the street and go walk it off! I still really like railroad park. I just hate that I don't get to visit often.

Railroad Park is one of the best in the city of Birmingham. It offers a wide range of clean outdoor space. There are public facilities available if a restroom break is needed. I love that it hosts community exercise events as well as family friendly gatherings and festivals. There is a walking trail with water front views, as well as room for bike riding and scooters. It's a great place to work out or gather with friends and family.

Celebrating my HBCU's largest classic in America just keeps better. This Tailgate Festival has been one of the best events next to a win by Alabama A&M at the Magic City Classic. This years festival had an amazing line up. Too Short, SWV and Fantasia were fantastic. It will was terrific seeing an incredible number of people out having fun together without any incidents. The police we're out in affect. This festival was well organized.

Railroad Park is one of my favorite places in the city! I love coming here to ride bikes, do yoga, take a walk, or lay out on a blanket to watch the clouds. Some of my fav things are the winter ice skating rink and the ballet & symphony in the park events! The park is a few city blocks long and is directly across from Regions field, so you get to see firework displays during the season. There's usually plenty of security around, ice cream trucks, and a variety of food options in walking distance as well. There's a place for skaters, jungle gyms for kids, and a really big hill that's pretty fun to roll down! It really is Birmingham's front porch and I'm so glad to be able to use it to better connect with myself and community.

Love this place! Parking can be a problem in the afternoon but the park is great! The location offers a great vibe and surrounded by a number of eateries and coffee houses. Check it out for a great workout spot or a nice chill date.

Birmingham, Alabama has some cool parks and this one is one of my favorite ones. It is located in the downtown Birmingham area and makes maximum use of the land they are allotted. A very cool statue in the park is a mini and much more colorful version of Vulcan, the God of Fire, who has a significantly larger statue overlooking this amazing city which was built on the success on companies like Sloss Furnace. This park is a perfect respite from the rigors and stress of urban life, a place to just go and chill, maybe recharhe your batteries and shed the cloak of the modern world. If you are in Birmingham, I would recommend a visit here.

My first time at Railroad Park and we very much enjoyed our visit! The Alabama Symphony Orchestra was performing and it was brilliant! The weather was perfect for a night under the stars listening to an orchestra. We got in relatively quickly as it was a free show. There were a lot of people here! We brought our blanket and spread it out on the grass to listen to the show. It was crowded but not too bad where we couldn't spread out a bit. They had food trucks and plenty of places to get snacks. We were allowed to bring in a cooler with water and Cokes in it. The staff checking our things as we walked in were quick and friendly. There were plenty of portable restrooms as well as the ones at the facility. It's a very beautiful park and very clean from trash. There are several places within walking distance to get a drink or a meal. The only thing I found aggravating was the parking. There's only a limited number of street spaces available. We drove around for a good 20 minutes or so before finally finding a place to park. In all, it was a great show and a fun experience! Thanks!!

I really like Railroad Park. Some of the best events are held here. Last night, I enjoyed Symphony in the Park and two months ago, I had a great time at March for Babies. There's a cooking class and many other interesting things to do. I love that the park has a no smoking policy. I also like the foliage and the grass is so green. Back when I was a part of the Pokémon Go craze, this park was a regular destination of mine. This is a nice park to hang out with family and friends. It's in a great location so you can walk to grab a coffee or food and have a picnic in picturesque place. The Birmingham Barons stadium and Good People Brewing is right across the street so it's a great area to have a good time. Oh...and even though I'm not a dog-lover, this park is dog-friendly.

Railroad Park is a little park near downtown Birmingham. We stopped by for a walk around the park after visiting the nearby Negro Southern League Museum and were pleasantly surprised! What a great use of a large plot of land near downtown! The park isn't large, but it has walking trails (short but they can add up to about 2 miles if you do them all), water features (including a "Rain Curtain"), a skate area, outdoor gym equipment, play areas, a plaza, and more! It's a pretty area and well worth exploring if you find yourself in the area and want to stretch your legs!

This was our first visit to Railroad Park's ice skating rink. We visited right after Christmas during the mid afternoon. It was packed. Thus parking was limited and we had to drive around. As we looked at the rink with all the people we wondered if there was any room to skate. Turns out that more people were standing around the edge so there was adequate room to skate. A separate building sells you the tickets (for unlimited time skating), but you have to go to take yourself and your wristband to an adjacent building where you swap your own shoes for a pair of skates. When you're done, you get your shoes back when you turn in your skates. A novel and clever idea I thought. As I mentioned it was a small skating rink compared to Pelham Civic Center. I was expecting it to be bigger. The entire rink is "elevated" so there are a few steps to climb. I'm guessing that the refrigeration magic occurs underneath the ice. As crowded as it was, there was still room to skate at a gingerly pace counterclockwise. There's no Zamboni so this was first time I observed how they resurfaced the ice manually. A young man skated across every inch of the surface pushing a large "scraper". Then they "spread" a thin layer of water across the ice. There is a small building at the venue that sells food ranging from burgers to gumbo. They have small tables and plenty of chairs scattered around the rink. I got 3 cups of hot chocolate on this cold day for $4 each. A little pricey I thought. Perhaps when I return I'll review some of their food. This outdoor ice skating is obviously seasonal and I think it's a wonderful option for Birminghamians to bring kids and families for a fun couple of hours. The Railroad Park venue is perfect. Before or after skating you can walk some trails, take in the sights with Region Field right next door, Good People Brewery and the lakes. If you visit during a typical day and not around a holiday, you'll have plenty of parking and much more room to skate. Either way you'll have a fun time!

When you visit a new city, what is the moment or event or venue that begins to unlock the doors of your mind so you can appreciate where you are? I came to Alabama and Birmingham with a lot of baggage. I can't get my head around the incredibly polarizing politics and startling history. I had been driving around Birmingham when I stopped at Railroad Park. My brain suddenly threw those thoughts out the window as I walked around the park and saw joy on the faces of so many who reveled in this beautiful space. It was here at this moment that I would begin to realize that Birmingham had now become one of my favorite cities.

A great place to walk if you can avoid the dog crap and homeless people. Recommend going in the morning when it's less walkers and dogs.

It's a fine dining restaurant with nice seafood options. Valet parking was available, which I love. The restaurant has low lighting and a quiet, yet engaging atmosphere. Our waiter was phenomenal! Tens across the board. His recommendations were spot on. We started with the calamari. It wasn't served with a sauce and baby....it didn't need a sauce. It was perfect on its own The bread he brought out was good--very airy. I had to try the Caviar slider. It was the perfect blend of salty and crunchy. I tried the onion rings and they were delicious. For a restaurant at this price point, the service was inexcusable. Our server, Chris, failed to take everyone's drink and appetizer orders before walking away from the table. We were a party of eight -- large, but hardly unmanageable. When appetizers arrived, he made no effort to confirm that every guest received their items. One of our guests had to physically track him down to report missing dishes. The food issues were just as bad. The birthday girl ordered a steak -- nearly $90 -- and it came out overcooked to the point of being burned. It had to be sent back and remade. That is simply not acceptable at this level. Another guest ordered the Lobster Pasta, which was under-seasoned, watery, and so overwhelmingly lemony it was nearly inedible. She flagged it to Chris, who took it back -- then had the audacity to include it on the final check and accuse her of eating it. It was offensive. When we raised these concerns, the manager on duty, Marshall, was condescending and dismissive rather than apologetic or solution-oriented. Our table spent roughly $1,000 that evening and left feeling disrespected. Birmingham has grown into a serious food city with high standards and plenty of options. With food and service like this, Lapeer will find it very difficult to compete.

There is no elevator unfortunately, but the bathrooms are handicap friendly and there is a separate back entrance for vendors. Parking is a bit limited to alleyways and street parking, but as the area finishes their renovations, I wouldn't be surprised if a parking garage would eventually make its way here. The fun in a raw space is seeing how much it changes for whatever the theme merits. There is a dedicated team here that works to make that vision come true and they're a professional and friendly bunch. I think their operation is stellar from top to bottom that perspective folks should really consider this gem of a venue.

Not sure if the lights are part of their everyday decor or if they were for Christmas, but it's absolutely stunning! I could see this being a great venue for a rehearsal dinner, work/birthday party, or a small wedding/prom venue (My graduating class of 7 would have had enough room!) My only question is how do I get invited back to this place?! I don't plan events, but this is a place I definitely want to come back to! My wife determined that the local botanical garden opened by 7 a.m. (!) and was also free, so we opted to stop here before the museum opened later at 10 a.m. We made it here by around 7:30 a.m. A word of caution - the highway interchange nearby was nightmarish. We missed 2 turns (even with a navigation app running). I don't think it was just me. So be careful and add a few extra minutes to get lost. Once finally off they highway and through the final roundabout, we proceeded along a road bordering the gardens. On the other side appeared to be an expensive hotel and an upscale shopping / dining plaza. The garden was having some sort of plant sale, and crowds were apparently expected. They had traffic control cones in place, but we arrived early enough so that parking was still plentiful. When we left, it seemed like the lot had mostly filled up. The gardens are quite large. They are divided up into sub-areas and there is a large map posted about 100 yards inside the main gate. No paper maps were on offer, so I guess you can take a photo of theirs and use that. We first strolled to the Japanese Garden. We had this to ourselves until almost when we left. This area is quite large by itself. They have koi ponds, a tea house, etc. It was nice. We took an alternate path back to the map pavilion. From there, we explored other areas (mostly dedicated to specific flowers). Some of the terrain is hilly. We routed through the vegetable garden and eventually ended up back at the central formal rose garden. This was being watered periodically that morning and some of the brick paths in it were flooded. They seemed to have some satellite restrooms in remote areas, in addition to the main set near the gate. We spent almost 2 hours here and probably could have spent even more time, but we wanted to drive to our prime stop. If you have any interest in botanical gardens, this is a very worthwhile stop.

While it's still a little early in spring for everything to be in full bloom, there were still plenty of gorgeous floral displays to enjoy. Some of the trail directions can be a bit confusing at times, and we did end up wandering off course once or twice. That said, it was never difficult to find our way back to the main trail and continue exploring.
