This restaurant was a bit of a let down. My husband and I went for a very early dinner (5:00ish) and to watch the World Series, therefore, we sat in the bar. The view was wonderful but the restaurant/bar area itself was extremely dated and not in any way charming. I didn't find the atmosphere warm or inviting in any way (accept for the view). The staff was pleasant enough. As for the food, we ordered an appetizer of calamari. The calamari itself was extremely bland though accompanied by a couple good sauces to liven it up. Next, I had a salad which was quite average and drowned in dressing. Finally, we split an order of fish and chips. The fish was very good and fresh, chips, again extremely average. The restaurant has great potential. Perhaps we caught it at an off time. At any rate, I will not be rushing back. read more

Good place for dinner. Fish and chips was good, their special last Friday was an ok (It was a fish breaded in panko with lime tamarind balsamic sauce underneath it served with asparagus and basmati rice). Calamari was really good, just a perfect texture. Minus 1star because the original table that we were seated at had bunch of ants. We go to Bodega Bay every Memorial Day weekend. We were looking for something different, and saw the reviews here. So we decided to go for lunch. Lunch is served in the bar, which isn't all that big. I estimated it would see about 50 people. And the bar servers handle the meals as well. I order the burger, medium well. Hard to judge how good a place is based on a burger... but, it was very good. And it was cooked exactly to med well, and was not dry at all. So the fact that they got it right (which so many palces don't) earned them an extra star. And the view is spectacular from the bar (assuming it isn't fogged in). And the service was good. So, no complaints, a great lunch. We left happy! read more

Salmon and chips were good. Very pricey for the offering but that's about par for Bodega Bay. Wife had their pizza en fuego which advertised sausage but turned out to be literally one slice of sausage on each piece of pizza. Not worth it for the money. Nice view though. read more

My friend took me to this restaurant. I really feel customer service is important. When we arrived the hostess greeted us and was very friendly. She sat us in a wonderful table. Linda was our waitstaff who was exceptional. She was very friendly and very informative with the menu and recommended different dishes based on our palate. I recently moved from Boston to Healdsburg, CA. The menu is amazing for seafood. My friend and I shared the clam chowder. Linda stated that it was very good. I had high expectations since I was from the East coast. The clam chowder is a must if you are having dinner. Linda was very attentive and made or dining experience relaxing but fun! Linda, thank you for being such a great waitstaff. Plus the views of the ocean is amazing. I felt I was in Martha's Vineyard in a weird way! This restaurant is not to be missed! read more

This restaurant is at the golfcourse "The Links at Bodega Harbour". The staff was nice and helpful. It has a view of the ocean. The price for the entrees is on the more expensive side, but my order, the salmon, was flaky and tasty. read more

You know mothers day is supposed to be special. Well this place ruined it by being overpriced. They never said anything about a buffet when reservations were made. The food was cold and not a very good selection. We only got one drink with our meal which was also disappointing. Stay away from this place unless you want food poisoning. read more

We came around 10am on a Saturday morning. We ordered the bacon waffle, the bistro breakfast and the eggs benedict. For such simple or "standard" options, I was really surprised at how amazing the quality was. The bartender was there alone handling a full room of customers with grace. This is for dinner at this restaurant. Food was surprisingly good. We were expecting generic sea-side restaurant with generic seafood. It was anything but. For appetizers we had a combo with Crab cakes, Shrimp and Salmon. Crab cakes had some type of topping which was excellent and made it some of the best crab cakes I have had. Salmon and Shrimp were great too. Soup was cream of broccoli, and was also very good. Waitress was kind enough to make sure soup did not have large pieces of broccoli, as requested. For main course we had Petrale Sole which came with sauteed spinach and rice. All three were delicious. Our friends had flat iron Steak and they loved it too. One of their boys said he wished he could have that for breakfast, lunch and dinner :) Servings were filling without being excessively large. this is for lunch, only, which is in the little bar area on the top floor. there are a few 2 tops next to the windows for the view, and a few next to the fireplace on chillier days. food is decent. the curried pumpkin soup was fine. sandwiches are well done, as are the burgers and fries, to a level possibly above what you would expect for typical golf-side dining. service, however, is sloooooooooow. advice: if your tee-time is at 1p, get there at least 2 hours beforehand. you will be running to your cart. read more

My husband and I had a great lunch here. I highly recommend the fish and chips. The prices were very reasonable, the food quality was high, and the staff was very friendly. Minus one star due to aesthetics. The building is undergoing some major construction. Some portions of the stairways were open to the air. Tonight my friends and I attempted to eat here for my Birthday. We originally had a reservation at Drakes (formerly Duck Club), however, decided to stop by to see if Bluewater had availability as it was closer to our rental. We arrived around 2:30 and spoke to Jimmy at the bar. He told me that reservations were full, however, that we should come back around 6 to have a drink at the bar, and they would be able to seat us at some point. He also, went as far as to say that the food at Drakes is not that good, and suggested we cancel our reservation. I went ahead and cancelled the reservation at Drakes. We arrived to Bluewater at 6:30PM, and were told by a younger server upstairs that there were no tables available in the dining room but we could have a drink at the bar and a be seated at a table in the upstairs area in about 20 minutes. My friend and I went downstairs to find out if we could get a table in the dining room, however, we received mixed messages regarding whether or not we could get a table. There were a number of open tables, however, the response was that the kitchen was close - mind you it was 6:30pm. When we asked for clarification they said it was open only for people who had existing reservations. We then went back upstairs to follow up on the status of the table near the bar. The same younger man told us our table would be ready shortly. After some time, another waitress asked us in a very condescending manner if we were waiting around because we were going to order take out making it clear that our presence was not welcome. I told her that the younger man told us that we would be able to get a table in the bar area. However, after some time, it became increasingly clear that we would not be getting a table any time soon, nor would any of us receive service at the bar. At this point the five of us were sitting at the bar and no one would acknowledge us. When we finally got the server's attention she was hostile, and she said in a very condescending tone "you don't even really want be here". We proceeded to tell her that we wanted to be there and had cancelled our reservation at Drakes. She then proceed to tell us how busy she was and that she had no idea when she could serve us (in the half filled bar). She also said that Jimmy never would have told us to come by, as he had worked there for 5 years - basically alluding we were liars. At that point we asked to see the manager. After waiting for about 15 minutes we decided to leave, however, another women showed up and said "I am going to have to ask you all to leave". We asked her what the problem was and she said that they have the right to refuse service to anyone. She was extremely aggressive, rude, and stormed off when we asked to speak to the manager. She screamed at us while other staff looking upon in shock. When we threatened to write a review, she said "I don't care." On a side note, we think this could have been potentially racially driven. We were three Indian girls, one African-American man, and one white girl. We cannot fathom why this happened to us as this is the first time any one of us has been treated in such a disrespectful manner. Upon leaving the restaurant, another waitress stopped to talk to us. She apologized to us and said that she was shocked by the way the other waitress acted towards us. She said that if we were to ever come back, she hoped that our experience would better. We will never be stepping back into this restaurant again, and we will be sure to let our friends and family know as well. read more

I eat at the Blue Water Bistro because Chef Patrick makes great fresh cooking that represents our region like fish tacos to die for at lunch and day boat scallops on a bed of vegetables or fresh local grilled salmon that is the best on the coast. I also enjoy the view at twilight when the fog is flowing over the head as the sun sets. They say that Bodega Bay restaurants food quality is inversely proportional to the view. That does not hold for the Blue Water Bistro--its easily number 1 in Bodega Bay. read more

NEW CHEF!! Visited late last month for lunch on a Saturday and learned they just hired a new chef and Chef Michael was incredible. He let me try his garlic bread and I'm still dreaming about it. The only reason I'm giving 1 star is because after we FINALLY got our dinner the food was actually decent. BUT...... the service was HORRIBLE!! The staff was rude and had very poor customer service skills! We waited for nearly an hour for our food, had to request bread, and it was a miracle when someone was able to take our drink order on the 90 degree day out there! We observed the 3 other tables on the patio area receive the same poor service! Nobody there to take orders, wrong drinks and food being delivered to tables, if you requested something extra like salt and pepper you never got it! My water glass was dirty. It's pretty bad when the table in front of you has to share the dessert menu because they never brought one to your table even though they asked us if we wanted to see one! The same table also requested for their waitress to refill our drinks and she rudely declined because we were NOT her table!! Not sure I'll ever go back! read more

Went to this place for the first time for lunch. We sat in the upstairs portion of the dining area, close to the bar. The food was excellent, the service was friendly, and the prices reasonable. Don't order the surf and turf or clam chowder. The chowder was cold to start but when they brought it back the second time it was the same temperature. The surf and turf came with 2 cold cocktail shrimp and the baby steak was mostly fat. Also the calamari was enough to feed 1/2 a person. Make sure you order a lot of bread if you don't want to walk out hungry. It's actually served hot and is delicious. Lol... We ordered about three loafs. read more

I do have to say that I will still recommend the place as a wedding venue because it is breathtaking..... however the service lately has been horrid! We have one favorite server/bartender who had been injured and on vacation and since she's not around things have been less than subpar. There is another server that seems really nice but it appears all the work and kindness is left for her to do so she always quite frazzled and seems in the weeds. The food has changed too which is a big bummer because we used to enjoy the food so much. It always seems we wait forever, sometimes don't even get noticed unless we barge our way up to the bar, and then feel like we are bothering the staff especially one lady whom I think no longer works there. I really hope things turn around because we really love revisiting our wedding site, Doran Beach, and having a convenient place to get a nosh while we are out. read more

I initially added the review below with 2 stars but now had some time to scroll through other older reviews where either a shill posted something positive or management responded by stating that things are now fixed. The problems are certainly not fixed and the food was terrible. Buyer be ware. Location was nice, views good and waitress was polite and that warranted some credit. On the downside ordered the fried calamari and it wasn't just bad it was inedible. Tasted like cardboard, actually could have been cardboard. My kid laughed and said he felt like he was eating hard chewing gum because he was able to chew it but could not swallow it. I have eaten in many restaurants and sometimes you just get food that really should've been prepared better but this was another step or 2 further. I found this place on open table while looking for a restaurant in bodega bay and it was really a mistake. This is not just a restaurant near a retirement community, it is the retirement community's restaurant which explained a lot. For similar menu, views and much better food go to the duck club which is less than a mile away. If they have available reservations you walk in and eat in the lounge which is indistinguishable from the restaurant. read more

I know it has been a while since I wrote a review, but I must make the time and give recommendations and praises when due. BWB has had some challenges through the years, but they have listened to their club members, vacation home renters and tourists and they have gotten it right this time. I have been coming here for years, knowing the food was going to be 'just okay' but came for that most amazing view. Now I'm enjoying the food so much, who cares about the best view in BB? The service and prices have improved too. What golf clubhouse do you know where you can get one of the most fabulous burgers for so cheap. Seriously, some of my favorites right now are the Chinese chicken salad, the ham and chipotle quesadilla, but if you want to have the best French dip in the world, you need to find your way back here. DO NOT EAT DINNER HERE!!! My wife had the Magherita Flatbread. It came out cold and soggy with tasteless tomato that was green in spots and the chef didn't bother to core. It had one small leave of basil per slice (4) and dry flavorless cheese. The bread tasted like it came from a package, stale and bland. I had the Asian Marinated Scallops and Noodles, which was so bad it is hard to describe. The scallops were burnt on one side and almost raw on the other side which made them very chewy, and they were served cold, however the rest of the dish, which consisted of noodles, red bell peppers from a can or jar, and something green (I think sliced green onion), was served warm. I asked our server what made it Asian and she replied soy sauce, (which I think was the only spice/flavoring used and was the only thing I could taste in it.). These two dishes were so bad they were taken off the bill and we did not pay for them. However, we did spend over $40 on wine and drinks, and tipped $15 on the revised bill. read more

Surprisingly awesome restaurant. My bf and I went for dinner, and watched the sun set. Great view, service, and ambiance. I ordered the steak and it was delicious! Tender, flavorful, and even the mash potatoes and sides were so good. The brownie Sundae was heavenly! We're from San Francisco, so our standards for food are relatively high. We dine here frequently and love it. The views are incredible, it's the only Bodega Bay restaurant that's really on the bay, above the crashing waves, the others are only on the harbor. Bluewater Bistro has a new menu, nothing over $20, and everything we've tried has been delicious. I love the casual selections like the chicken caesar salad, the burger, and crab cakes. My husband always orders their fresh seafood specials and the kids love their handmade pizzas. They have quality food for everyone in the family. And a wonderful wine selection for the adults. We've brought out of town guests here for lunch, dinner, and Sunday breakfast. Never been disappointed. read more
