I rarely leave unfavorable reviews, especially for a business that I have patronized for years, but…read morethis experience was disappointing enough that I feel it should be shared. I will start by saying the customer service and products have always been phenomenal here, this is what kept me a customer of theirs for so many years. This experience is definitely worth their customers knowing and making their own decisions about how they spend their money. I recently sent my son to TAJ Essentials to purchase the fragrance oil I have bought from this business many times. I told him that I normally pay approximately $50 for my bottle. He relayed that information when making the purchase. When I received the oil, I immediately noticed that the bottle was half the size I normally receive, yet I had still been charged $50. I contacted the business because I initially thought there had simply been a mistake. I was told that their prices had increased. I certainly understand that businesses periodically raise their prices. My concern is not that a price increased--it is the substantial difference between what I was charged and what the business was advertising. I went directly to the TAJ Essentials website to verify the pricing. At the time of my purchase and complaint, their website showed the 16 oz Miss Dior Rose & Roses fragrance oil for $50 and the 8 oz bottle for $35. My receipt, however, shows that I was charged $50 for an 8 oz/240 mL bottle. I provided this information and the screenshots to the business. A manager later contacted me and explained that their prices had increased and that they were in the process of changing the website. What concerned me even more was being told that if I ordered the same product through their website, I could still purchase it at the advertised website price, but because my purchase was made inside the store, the higher in-store price would stand. That explanation makes absolutely no sense to me. If a 16 oz product is publicly advertised by the business for $50, while an 8 oz bottle is advertised for $35, I do not believe a longtime customer should be expected to simply accept being charged $50 for the 8 oz bottle without clear disclosure--particularly after bringing the discrepancy directly to management's attention. I gave TAJ Essentials the opportunity to review and resolve this before leaving a review. Unfortunately, after speaking with both the owner and management, they chose not to correct the matter. I am attaching the photographs, website screenshots, and my receipt so that anyone reading this review can see exactly what I am referring to and make their own determination. After years of patronizing this business, I expected better communication, transparency, and customer service. Price increases happen. Charging a substantially different price from the price your own business is actively advertising--and then telling a customer that the advertised price is available online but not for the purchase they just made in your store--is an entirely different issue. That is why I am disappointed, and why I am leaving this review.

GREAT EXPERIENCE, BUT OUR CARS WERE BOOTED DUE TO UNCLEAR PARKING INFORMATION…read more My date and I genuinely enjoyed our experience at Note & Accord. The fragrance making session was fun, unique, and a great date experience. The actual experience itself deserves a great review. Unfortunately, what happened with the parking completely changed how the evening ended. My date and I actually arrived approximately an hour early. We parked in the back parking area and remained there for the entire hour before our session. No one approached us, told us that we couldn't park there, or warned us that our vehicles could be booted. Had we known, we obviously would have moved our vehicles and parked on the street. There were five couples in our session, and several of us parked our vehicles in the back parking lot. My date and I drove separately. At the end of the session, we all went outside and discovered that our vehicles had been booted. The other guests stated that they had to pay $250 per vehicle to have the boots removed. I paid cash and was charged $200 for mine. Either way, this was a significant and completely unexpected expense. What bothered me most was the lack of clear communication BEFORE the session. My date made the reservation and did not receive an email advising him not to park in the back lot or warning that vehicles parked there could be booted. What was even more frustrating was that at the very END of the session, the owner mentioned the booting situation and told us that we should have parked on the street instead of in the back parking lot. By the time this information was shared, it was already too late, our vehicles had been booted. If the owner was aware that vehicles parked in the back lot were subject to being booted, this is extremely important information that should have been communicated before guests arrived or, at the very least, at the beginning of the session. Not at the very end. And my biggest concern is: What if someone didn't have an extra $200-$250 available to have the boot removed? Not everyone can unexpectedly come up with hundreds of dollars on the spot. Imagine enjoying your evening and then discovering that you cannot leave because you don't have the money available to have your vehicle released. That could put someone in a very difficult and stressful situation. The fact that we were sitting in the back parking area for an entire hour before our appointment without being warned, combined with multiple guests from the same session having their vehicles booted, makes the lack of clear parking instructions even more concerning. This could easily be prevented by putting a very noticeable warning in every booking confirmation: DO NOT PARK IN THE BACK PARKING LOT. STREET PARKING ONLY. VEHICLES PARKED IN THE LOT ARE SUBJECT TO BOOTING. I want to be fair because we truly enjoyed Note & Accord and the fragrance-making experience itself was great. However, spending money on an experience and then walking outside to an additional $200-$250 expense per vehicle is an awful way to end a wonderful date. Hopefully, management takes this seriously and makes the parking restrictions unmistakably clear to guests BEFORE they arrive, especially since the booting issue was known and mentioned by the owner at the end of our session. For anyone planning to visit: DO NOT PARK IN THE BACK LOT. Confirm exactly where you're permitted to park before going inside.

The first time I went I I was not greeted and looked up and down just to be ignored although there were other "customers". I went to the Fragrance Outlet which was unfortunately closed on Sunday's, so in a pinch of time I ended up having to return to this establishment. The second time I went in there was no customers and there was still no greeting. The associate Kenyatta who I ultimately purchased ONE BOTTLE of "Versace Yellow Diamond" from was in the store both times and overlooked me continuing her conversation with her coworker until the associate/manager had to ask her to assist me. She displayed a lackluster attitude and very little customer interaction. I remembered finding carbolic soap once in a store like this one and ever since that store closed, I've been looking for a local Supply. (It's red soap that smells kind of funny, but if you shave your head like me, nothing is better for preventing bumps and the funny smell goes away soon after you dry off. It's the same kind of surgeons used to scrub up with before operating, like on the TV show MASH. You've never felt as clean, let me tell you as with showering with this stuff. But I digress . . .) What a hidden gem! In addition to all of those different kinds of exotic soap the first caught by eye, there are all sorts of other beauty supplies catering to folks with ethnic and natural hair particularly. BUT if a curious white guy with a shaved head can find some pretty amazing stuff in here, just imagine what YOU might find yourself. There's a huge display case and shelves of genuine designer scents and scented oils, the kind you might give to someone special or treat yourself too. But these fragrances are not knock offs, they are THE BONAFIDE GENUINE DEAL So far I've met Marjorie who's one of the super friendly and very knowledgeable owner/managers as well as Paul, a friendly Store employee who also knows the products very well and has a fine welcoming smile. Their Island charm as well as a deep knowledge of the varied and excellent products and prices are sure to beckon you back time and again. Check out all the really cool stuff on the back wall too: clothes and some random cool things for sale A great shop and hidden gem. I wish these folks much success!

I used to work at a full line Nordstrom years ago, so I know quality when I see it. That's why I love the Rack because you can always expect good brands at better prices than you'd find at the full line store. To some people, Nordstrom Rack still feels a little pricey for a discount store, but you really have to compare it to the original full line price tags. I live in the NoDa area, and I will say this location was a bit farther out than I expected, about 25 minutes from my house. I was honestly surprised that there isn't a Nordstrom Rack closer to the city. This one is more on the outskirts, which is fine, but it does make quick trips or exchanges a little less convenient. Yes, you can return items at the full line Nordstrom, but sometimes you just want to browse and see what's new. Parking here was easy, and the store itself was clean and well organized. Coming from Houston and then Florida, I wasn't used to seeing so many coats in stock, so that actually caught my attention. They had a big winter selection, and I ended up leaving with a super cute trench coat, a puffer jacket, and a couple of other cold weather pieces since I know Charlotte winters are going to be colder. The staff was about as friendly as you'd expect at a Nordstrom Rack, but they moved quickly, and the checkout line wasn't long. Overall, this location was consistent with the other Nordstrom Racks I've been to. No surprises, just the usual dependable Rack experience. I'd definitely return.

He said that he didn't see anyone but me. That's far from the truth because there were many people walking this morning. I felt racially profiled for being a Black man walking in the mall. I was the only black person walking this morning. There was no legitimate reason for Security working at the L'Occitane store to be outside in the mall harassing me.
