He was asked by a man who overheard this what he said. The man made it clear he had heard what was said. The driver ignored him. The passenger in my car also said something but was ignored. My passenger was a male. It is obvious this driver gets his kicks from shouting at and abusing females. Absolutely disgusting, down right disrespectful behaviour and I would honestly highly recommend steering clear from this company. Please also be aware. I phoned the business and was told there was no manager. There was someone shouting the responses in the background telling the lady who I was on the phone to what to say. Being that I was not far from the firms "Registered Business Address" I decided to go to the location as I truly was horrified by the drivers behaviour and wanted to put in a complaint before it came to this. The address DOES NOT EXIST. Please note that the address that this firm use is the address of something called "Gazza's Gaff" which on the day was totally closed. All the shutters down and absolutely no sign of anything there. We asked 4 people in the area, 3 who were local business owners. One directly next door to the so called location of the taxi rank. This was not the address and no one had EVER heard of it. It looks like this is potentially being run from someone's house? Now please note this is NOTHING to do with the Covid-19 situation as you would still have seen a premises there albeit closed. However there was absolutely no sign of this ever existing. Please be very cautious ahold you use this firm. However I would strongly advise against it. Having read the reviews left on many other platforms this truly is not an isolated incident.

I have been left waiting for over half an hour for a taxi to pick me up after work as their driver decided to pick up a group of girls that ordered a taxi 15 minutes after we did. A member of my family ordered a taxi a day in advance to get to a hospital appointment, but said taxi never showed up. When we rang them, we were told that it wouldn't be coming as it was during prayer time. If they had let us know that they wouldn't be available at that time, we could have made different arrangement, but ended up panicking to get there on time. We've also ordered a taxi to take an I'll pet to the vets, only for the car to turn up and refuse to transport animals despite us specifically mentioning that we needed a driver that would take pets! Also, in 2022 when cash usage has dropped in favour of cashless payments because of covid, refusing card payments seems a little backwards.

Two failed attempts from other companies and I tried Amber, imagining that it'd be a similar story. Not the case! For a start, they've obviously got my number on record, since the chap in the office knew where I was and my name. He then tracked the nearest car, told me his location, and gave a very reasonable estimate as to how long it'd take to arrive. Sure enough, five minutes later, along came my car. The driver was super friendly, and had no worries at all on getting me to the station in time, and provided much chat on the way. All in all, Amber's back in my good books. The chap in the office was a delight, really helpful, and honest about the time it would take - none of that "It'll be ten minutes" when they mean 25. Lovely stuff!

My friend got her smart phone out, hit a button on a slick app, and we watched the car arrive on a map in real time. Then there it was -- this huge, shining beast of a vehicle, complete with free bottles of water for us as we drove to our destination. Five years on and they've finally come to Leeds! I can't tell you how excited I was for this to happen. It seems ludicrous that it's taken so long for a taxi firm to establish here that not only uses a smart phone app for ordering (yeah yeah, I know Amber has one) but takes card payments. See, that's the main draw for me -- I can't tell you the amount of times I've had to miss a train or arrive late because I had to visit a cash machine en route. Ridiculous! Not any more. Thanks UBER. Obviously, it's not all roses, but it mostly is. Maybe 5-10% of drivers have been not up to scratch -- either failing to see me for pick up (and basically telling me that it was my fault even though the pin was correct) or driving recklessly. But none were so bad that I rated them (on their app) below 3 stars. Most of the drivers have been a pleasure -- taking care to make sure I don't slip on ice, discussing the fastest route, and so on. I do find it a bit cloying that they all ask me if I've ever had an UBER before, now. (At first it was new, it got old fast.) Either way, I've not had even close to the number of disappointing journeys/drivers as I've had with every single other taxi company in Leeds. It's simply not worth booking with anyone else -- in terms of both cash and time. The only down sides are that there are certain times and areas where cars are just not available (6am for an early train is tricky, as is anywhere not in LS6 or LS1/LS2 at the moment) and of course, the inflated prices at high demand times really are a wallet puncher. At moments like those I'll just suck it up and get a City Cab or something. So! There might not be the free water and Californian sun with your UBER in Leeds, but there will be solid, kind drivers for the most part, and a cheaper journey than almost every other company. I mean, once I got back from town for £3.50. There were two of us in the car, which made it CHEAPER THAN THE BUS. Insane. Srsly. There's no reason not to download the app and at least have it handy. The fact that a taxi is always available from Arrow is one of the only positive aspects of the business - they are renowned for overcharging, especially for shorter differences such as Headingley to Leeds city centre, and the drivers are mostly unfriendly. On more than one occasion, we have contacted them in advance, asking for a six-seater people carrier to be told that one is on its way. Yet lo and behold, two four-seaters turn up in place of one six-seater, meaning the company makes more money and the customer spends more. I would recommend Premier or Amber over Arrow, but with the state of the taxi industry in Leeds (there are barely any black council cabs unlike London or Liverpool) there is little to choose between all the private hire taxi firms; you just have to bite your tongue and pay the extortionate prices. I found the buses to be pretty generic for First standards, no different to what one would find in other cities such as Greater Manchester and Potteries regions, the only exception being London where the set-up and look of buses is different due to Transport for London (TfL) regulations. I had mixed experiences with the staff, some seeming friendly and helpful, others seeming like they couldn't care either way - it was pretty much a half and half split, again this is commonly based on bus journeys with other operators and even First around the country, not just in the Yorkshire and Humber region. The Park and Ride service seemed to be highly overpraised, it even has it's own bus stops around the city, these buses are much more expensive and you can't travel with these with a regular bus ticket including concessionary pass, it also seems to be a set fare along the route meaning just to go one stop (I was arriving in the city for the first time in 18 months, not knowing where my hotel was) I'd have to pay £2 which included a return journey I had no intention of making. Buses ran either on-time with a delay of no more than two or three minutes, however, on a Sunday the buses were really really awkward and infrequent, with multiple services not turning up for 45 minutes in-between buses, and sometimes longer even in the late afternoon, the same also applies for a Bank Holiday. I understand it's Sunday hours, but the most I've seen as a gap in-between buses is 20-30 minutes (and even then there were other buses serving 90% of that route in that time), in other areas so for a city centre of such a large city with a population of around 474,632, that really isn't acceptable. Issues with certain drivers, the comfort of certain buses and other issues mentioned including how infrequent the buses actually run, it is barely satisfactory Monday to Saturday too, I feel First are taking their position basically running a monopoly of buses in the area (Through my weekend in Leeds I only saw one bus route which wasn't operated by First or their Park and Ride route) for granted, letting service suffer, and prices rise and that isn't on. 1*

Every one of them was clean and smooth and quiet. What I found particularly useful was that my bus was staffed by a "bus host" - when boarding, you would take your seat and he came to you to sell the ticket, make change and answer any questions. I am guessing that this helps with times at stops, since the bus doesn't wait on a long queue of folks. Many of the stops had cover from the rain, reasonably accurate "next bus" information and maps of the system and the individual routes. £3.70 for the day, a good deal.
