There are some undeniable red flags with this company. Firstly, nobody ever answers the phone when you call them. Additionally, there are discrepancies between the addresses listed on Yelp and Google, and neither of them match up with the company's actual location. Furthermore, when I tried to verify their address, I found that it belongs to a completely different company that denies any association with Blue Zoo Aquatics. Their social media accounts are also suspiciously outdated, with their last Facebook post dating back to 2021 and their last Instagram post dating back to 2017. read more

Update from my previous post on 8/26/25. Animals arrived healthy and active. Packaging was perfect and staff was friendly. HOWEVER, I used two separate credit cards here and afterwards fraudulent charges appeared on both cards. The same experience has happened to many other reefers - look it up. Horrible horrible fish company. I have spent over $3,000 with them all 2019. Usually $300-$500 orders. Each order, something bad usually happened. They put too much water in a bag and it exploded & the anthias was dead. Another few orders, always they say something in your order can't be shipped. Another order, they didn't include the fish food, & then claimed I threw it out. They won't refund your card for dead fish, they give you a code to use on next order. So they reel you back in, & you keep giving them more chances. Apparently they are tired of me complaining about their bad service, so they held my $588 most recent order from 12/30/19 and kept the money until today. They pretended like they were fulfilling the order, but really they were just messing with me. Their system stated I could choose 1/3 as a delivery date, but then when I emailed what happened, GREG said oh, we are closed until Monday 1/5, will do your order then. And then when it became 1/6 and still no notification of shipment, I emailed again and again, & never heard back. Truly didn't care my harlequin shrimp were hungry and needed the starfish part of the order shipped ASAP. They do not care about these creatures. They are very negligent. Then I saw their horrible yelp reviews, and have concluded not to do business with them again. They are unprofessional and inconsiderate & will hold your money for a week, and their system triple charges your card sometimes and you got to wait a week for it to be released. read more

Their website is a bit outdated and I had an error where my order didn't go through but the payment did twice. Greg from Bluezoo called me the following day was able to confirm my order and refund the error payment. I only use paypal and haven't ran into any issues as far as my credit card being compromised. The shipping is fantastic and is in my opinion one of the best I've come across buying livestock online. It's the typical Styrofoam box with the double bagged plastic baggies for the livestock and heatpads as necessary. They include an acclimation guide and some airline tubing, dry food, and methylene blue as needed. The website says they ship Fedex but I've been getting UPS shipments which I very much prefer as Fedex can be terrible for overnight shipments. Maybe it's because I'm in California they ship UPS? The livestock were also in great condition. I haven't had any issues so far and I've ordered from them twice. The fish appear to be shipped in lower salinity at 1.020 and the inverts at normal tank salinity at 1.026. I do an observational quarantine for a few weeks before treating or adding to my display. Bluezoo has some of the best varieties of livestock online that you really can't beat. The corals are a bit pricey in comparison to other vendors so unless they have something you really like there are other places with better prices. It's honestly pretty interesting to see the differences in reviews. read more

I'm just going to start by saying this company is not a place you want to spend your money. I made an order, and then the day I'm expected to receive the order I get an email to inform me I wouldn't be receiving it on time. So I contact via phone to better understand the situation and am greeted with an attitude. It was almost like I was bothering them. This whole process was very disappointed and dysfunctional. I was also told that due to a sickness by the curator, that was the problem with the order not being shipped. Which is understandable but at the same time is unprofessional. Why would a business not have a contingency for just such an issue. I've ordered from other places online with issues also, but was at least sent something explaining the situation as soon as possible. They used to be good many years ago but lately its become one of those buyer beware situations. Their shipping practices are horrible. I have had more than one instance where it took more than a week to receive live stock, in both cases it was doa. The only thing they guarantee is that they will keep your money. It doesnt matter how negligent they are, they will keep you money and offer a conditional store credit that expires in 12 months. As I could only use the credit for livestock and it was a lot of money I tried again ordering one goby and 5 featherworms. The featherworms were all dead except one and the small goby lived. Five years ago, which I had forgotten until this order, I had terrible experience and just recently ordered corals and fish, I received an email from greg Myer telling me the animal curator went release my order as they don't look good. After 13 emails and 9 calls, to cancel, I had my credit card company dispute charge as greg never responded, nor picked up phone, and has no voice mail. I guess after the credit card contacted them, he decided to call me to ask what was wrong. I told him to cancel. He said he would contact his accountants to issue refund. Fraud! I received a Six Line Wrasse, Watchman Goby, Pistol Shrimp, and 2 Feather dusters and they were packaged VERY well. Each species was in its own bag - triple bagged, The bags were not clear/see through around the bottom sides which helped keep the fish calm. There were multiple heating packs. All of this was packed inside a Styrofoam cooler/box. They also included and acclimation kit, an informational/instruction booklet, and some of their brand of food. Very well done. The only thing I think they should change is they should require a signature upon delivery. If someone isn't home, the box is just left on their porch and livestock can easily die in the winter months. I have read about livestock scheduled to be delivered by a certain time and then the person has to leave for work and it doesn't arrive until later in this happening. All fish and invertebrates are doing well. One of the feather duster's was out in the bag (good sign). I will order from this company again. read more

My first order from them was DOA, the packing and delivery was perfect, the problem I felt was not enough air space in bag.....the fish looked like It had died just hours before delivery, no tissue decay or dirty water, just ran out of air and what is the point of the black bag, it is in a box. Finally made the decision to order some fish and corals online. The order went through seamlessly. There was concern as to how the fish would be safely shipped from California to cleveland ohio in winter. I was updated at 5:40 PM that my order had shipped. The next morning at 9:30 am I received my fish, snails, crabs, and corals all happy and healthy. It has been several days now and no issues with any of the little guys. This is my "go to" online store for healthy livestock and quality service!! I've even seen their facility in person on a recent trip to Southern California. I was allowed to take a quick tour. I'm from NY. The animals are cared for top notch. As well as online, I've never had a bad phone sale experience either. I've had a great experience each time, dealing with various reps. They are ALL knowledgeable. Any DOA or DAA critters were easily credited with proper proof of loss. I picked up the SPS pack from him and I was so excited when I saw what was to be sent. What I received was probably what no one else would of bought from them. Very disappointed and I paid over $100 for the frag pak. Open brain coral (red) was received pretty much dead and my water readings are perfect. It's been sitting on the bottom of the tank and its brown. I spent over $400 so I received a free Blenny. The water was cold upon arrival and I spent 3 hours on acclimation. He died an hour later. Sent a letter to the owners and they don't even respond. Don't waste your time here. There is so much better available. read more
