As a man of pride on appearance, trips to the hairdressers are always a daunting experience, your life depends on the outcome of your cut.
I booked myself into Blue Tit Salon bating my breath as I wanted to get something MAJOR done with my hair for the first time (no it's not some sort of midlife crisis), from dark thick hair I requested for a platinum silver do done...
I arrived at the Salon located in East Village away from the hustle and bustle of central London where I frequently go to find the Holy Grail hair salon of my own. Blue Tit a really hip, chic industrial environment I greeted by a member of staff at front of house welcoming me which is IMPORTANT as I hate trips to hairdressers, so I felt all at ease.
My hairdresser was Andy, a REALLY dead on fellah. Myself being Deaf Andy was absolutely warm and totally deaf aware which, was a massive bonus (I've had bad experience before with communications). He sat down with me and listened to what I wanted done cut and colour wise and the challenge I gave him he was confident to deliver. Andy spoke to me clearly the process that was going to happen over the next 3-4 hours..Okay this was the first time I was to sit in a Salon for that long as normally I go for a cut that finished within 15 minutes and the results were always average so I had to put my trust into Andy's hand. Before all started I was offered refreshments such as Coffee, Tea etc The Coffee was superb.
Andy cut my hair before the colouring process as I watched him, it was like watching a sculptor crafting his masterpiece, the cutting was pretty skilful looking and it was something I haven't seen before unlike at other hairdressers they just snip chunks off but here it was a man of talent knowing his stuff. I was absolutely content for once. Again Deaf Awareness was used, instead of speaking directly to me via the Mirror Andy would walk around face to face to me with questions and answers.
The colouring process - Andy warned me I will be bored over the next few hours once the bleaching process begun so offered more coffee and said you may want to watch something on your phone or play games so luckily I brought my charger but I wasn't left alone all the time, I've been checked on regularly, asking how my scalps are feeling, chatted about life.
The rinsing/washing of the hair again deaf awareness was used, tapped gently on shoulder when I was done and the final silver colouring was added to my hair, dried and styled.
Hand to god it is the freshest cut I've had in my life, absolutely rocking, Short at side with a matte messy loose quiff and a silver/grey shine!
Without a question Blue Tit Salon is going to be my main hairdresser for the remaining days however long I stay in London and Andy is it. My quest for a regular hairdresser is now done no question about it, yes it was a long day but the overall experience has been absolutely pleasant, exciting and TOP NOTCH.
The number of compliments on the street and people asking about my hair I have pointed them to Blue Tit at Stratford, the amazing transformation it has made socially. Look I am not being big headed, it can't be helped it was all Andy's doing.
My own Mother loves my hair, she's been fighting her own hair to prevent it going Gray for years but now she wants to grow it out gracefully inspired my her own wee son
Thank you Andy and Blue Tit. Keep it up and see you again! read more
