The appointment ahead of me ran a little long but Arkin was appropriately apologetic and, thankfully, I wasn't in a major rush. This location is tiny! And there's no mobile phone reception so make sure to ask for the wifi password if you have to wait. More importantly: Arkin is a hair wizard. I explained that I needed a long lasting style to take me through a dinner that night in London (Tuesday), a conference the following day (Wednesday), and a flight to Phoenix (Thursday). Blow Dry Express?...more like Blow Dry Mess! I recently moved to the St Paul's area and was hopeful that this salon would be my weekly go to. I took an early appointment last week to get a blow dry before an important meeting. The stylist did not show up, and after calling the main hotline I was informed that he was going to be 10 minutes late. That 10 minutes turned into him being 45 minutes late with barely an apology on arrival. Today I made an appointment for a blow dry, arrived 5 minutes early and was told to take a seat. After around 20 minutes, the stylist then informs me that they didn't see my booking in the system and had accidentally accepted 3 walk in clients and already started their hair. Two of the girls had extremely long hair down to their waist, so I assumed that they would take at least an hour and I had to leave without any service or else miss my birthday dinner. After calling the main hotline again, I was met with little sympathy and complete disregard of the situation. This experience was a complete waste of my time. I would caution anyone going here hoping for an 'express service' or any degree of professionalism. read more

I picked up a flyer at a nail salon a few blocks away on Commercial St advertising a £19 introductory rate for a blow dry at this place. Online bookings, 10 minute walk from my office near Liverpool St station and they open at 6:30am? Sold. The focus of this salon seems to be about fast results. Under 30 min wash and style guaranteed (45 min max for long hair). They also offer an under 20 min dry style updo option and even claim to be able to cobble together a quality dry style in under 10 minutes! I opted for the wash and style, which all in all took about 45 min (my hair is long and thick) so they kept their word. The style menu has 9 different options, all very different and unique looks ranging from classic retro waves to trendy sideswept half-up hair. No receptionist. No beverage offer. Just one stylist (turns out she was also the owner) and she just got straight to the hair. I opted for sleek and she delivered on a quality scalp wash and lasting blowout. She was sweet, professional, and efficient. She mentioned that the salon is brand new and had only been open for 6 weeks. I should have confirmed that I could use the introductory blow dry discount before booking my appointment because when I went to pay, the owner informed me that the £19 promo was only valid for the month of September. That I didn't quite understand since 6 weeks in operation would have put the salon's inception at the first week of October, perhaps the last week of Sept if you're being generous. But tevs. At the full price of £25, the service was still worth it. On Mon & Tues during the off-peak hours of 10am - 4:30pm, she drops the price to £16, which is a straight steal for those of you able to take advantage during your lunch break. She's also offering discounts for parties of 4 or more and does home visit blow dry parties as well. read more

I had a very traumatic experience here today. Firstly, I tried to make an appointment online and the website booking system would not work. Eventually I called up and managed to book directly on the phone with the manager. I arrived to the appointment 8 mins late (my fault completely due to traffic) and when I walked into the premises I was informed by the stylist 'Andrea' that he had given my appointment to someone else (even though I am a regular) and there was absolutely nothing that he could do. I wasn't offered an apology and instead he shoved the company framed flyer in my hands and told me to call the owner directly with the number on the flyer. I quite honestly have never been spoken to and treated so unprofessionally in my entire life. He was rude, abrupt and extremely condescending. After speaking to the owner on the phone (who apologised profusely) they offered me a complimentary blow dry at their other salon. I went back into the salon to collect my bag and belongings and I was then verbally accosted by Andrea who was at the back hair wash who used his hands in a derogatory manner to shoo me away and stated "get out of my salon". I was absolutely flabbergasted that someone in this day and age can be so disrespectful and condescending. Who treats people in this fashion in 2019 and especially in a service business?!! I was a frequent visitor as are a lot of my close friends & colleagues and I have not received an apology from the worker. Whilst I appreciate the good will gesture from management I do not believe this matter has been dealt with in the appropriate manner and he should be immediately removed from the business as how can an organisation operate with such rude staff representing them? Best blow dry I've ever had (and I've had loads)... I come to Blow Dry Express on Saturday 8th September with my stepdaughter who is 4 - Violet, we both had a blow dry done for a wedding we were attending that afternoon at the Savoy. A wedding at which my other half was a Groomsman and my stepdaughter was a flower girl so we wanted to make sure our hair was "on point" for the photos. Before booking, I had lots of questions as I'm not from London (I'm more of a country mouse) as I was concerned about dragging Violet around busy London. Every email had a quick response and advice which eased my booking and since then everything run smoothly. On the Friday I received a reminder about our bookings. We arrived half hour early on the day of the wedding and were seen straight away. Violet had a blast and felt like quite the little lady of luxury. Marianna and the pink haired lady working with her (sorry didn't get your name :(), were very attentive of Violet, and myself, and she loved feeling like part of the girls while being pampered. When it come to my hair being done and Violet's had been finished they kept her entertained by talking to her and at the end she gave Marianna a big cuddle for making her hair look perfect. I'll be sending the salon a picture of Violet fully dressed for the wedding and I can promise you this was the best blow dry I have had! My blow dry was completed by 12.30pm, no need for hairspray so that it fell slightly before the wedding, and it was still in perfectly on the Monday morning after a night of dancing - and a slightly sore head the next day. If I worked in London I would be going to Blow Dry Express every Friday, and I'll definitely be recommending to many of my friends who are in the area. This review is a bit late, but I had a lovely experience at the Artillery Ln location in Feb 2019. I stopped by to see if there were any openings for a last minute blow out during rush hour. Though they were busy, Ana & Andrea managed to work together to give me a great styling. Excellent customer service, very efficient, and lovely results! As a regular customer to blow dry express I am really unhappy about the service I have received today. Firstly two weeks I had a blow dry and I was not happy with the service, today I requested to choose the stylist to do my hair and would recommend Anna or Larissa. I requested these two because of the bad experience I had previously. SJ was very rude and unable to help me though I come to the salon weekly. She offered me the choice to cancel this appointment . I insisted that I was happy to travel to the other salons if needed be, she said no and asked if I wanted to cancel instead. I will not be coming back you have lost my custom. Just FYI make sure that when they use the blow dry to dry the hair they actually make sure its dry as it has been damp and ends up falling out within a hour! Don't believe me actually see for yourself next time you are there :) Also one point for one visit, and you need like 300 points for a free blow dry. I met the lovely SJ at a magazine event in September, so when I found myself in her neck of the woods and needed a blow dry I was sure to pop in. I was actually getting my hair styled for a Halloween event, so I took advantage of the blow dry and Halloween makeup deal (£40) which was brilliant. I had the makeup of the undead with the hair of a Hollywood starlet after 40 minutes in the capable hands of SJ and team. Usual blowdries are £25, a very nice price, and the finish is fab - lasted 3 days, even with getting caught in a rain shower! From the time of my initial email with the salon, I was met with warmth and welcoming nature of the owner. I had my hair done by Marianna. Marianna was very welcoming, she did an amazing job on my hair. She understood my situation and my need to have the hairdo last the whole day. Thankfully when I got there it wasn't too busy and both Marianna and Veronika were able to both work on my hair. They were very welcoming and asked me if I wanted a drink, then I showed them a photo of what I wanted and they were so fast and completed the look in the allocated time. The finish was just what I wanted and as my hair is fine but there's a lot of it, the products they used kept it in place! They were cheaper and they knew exactly how to handle my hair compared to previous experiences of working with more expensive salons.
