We absolutely loved our stay at Blue Ruby Farm. I keep thinking about how relaxing and beautiful it was. Stephanie and Paul are so kind and welcoming -- such a treat to spend time with them, and to enjoy the meals that Paul prepared with thoughtfulness and care. The house and rooms are beautifully designed - each with views out to the pond and a real sense of peace and privacy. The surrounding area is gorgeous; you're also close to Grass Valley and Nevada City, which are fun to visit. Spending time at Blue Ruby Farm is truly a unique and wonderful experience. It's a lovely mix of wildlife and comfort! We found so many birds - woke up to a singing Bullock's oriole; Pied-billed grebes and Wood ducks were calling and setting up their nests; an osprey, kingfishers, and herons were regular visitors. They have friendly dogs; Buster will join you and lead you on a walk around the pond if you'd like. :) Highly recommended! read more

This is a lovely spot for a getaway! The setting is beautiful and quiet, the rooms are roomy, comfortable, and elegant, and the food is just world-class. We dined family-style with the other guests on the first night of our stay (a Friday) and part of the enjoyment was getting to know the other two couples staying at the inn for the weekend. Paul cooked an amazing lasagna that night, made with locally-sourced ingredients and produce from his garden. Salad and dessert were just as good. Breakfasts Saturday and Sunday mornings were also wonderful. Stephanie is a great host and made good recommendations for activities and dinner Saturday night. The building overlooks their pond, which is a draw for local wildlife and birds. We saw beaver, red-winged blackbirds, Canada geese, deer, and various raptors. Highly-recommended! read more

We don't know which we enjoyed most, the experience of staying in our beautiful guest room with huge glass doors that open to a view of the lake or the wonderful--and healthy--meal that Paul prepared. Paul's cooking was delicious, pork roast prepared on the rotisserie in the fireplace, potatoes roasted to perfection, and beautifully seasoned broccoli and salad. He and Stephanie were gracious hosts, ensuring that we had every comfort. Wish we could have stayed longer, but we will definitely make return visit soon! read more

Blue Ruby Farm is such a wonderful place to be. My husband and I stayed there when we needed a little time away from the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley and it did not disappoint. Then comfortable beds and accommodations along with the view on of the beautiful lake as we woke up - All of it helped me feel like I could rest and reconnect and settle for a few days.
