I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews. My uncle asked me to find a place for him to take my aunt to for a birthday/Valentine's get away and I picked this for them. They had no complaints. They said it was private, CLEAN, and no hassle getting in the cabin. After hearing about their stay, it's definitely a place I will be booking in the future for mine and my husbands next quick get away.

Found a German cockroach in my cabin as I was laying my four year old down, the management did not care and was condesening when dealing with the issue, and refused a refund for what they called a "bug" despite this being an obvious sign of infestation. It would have been absolutely normal to find woodroaches, spiders, and other woodsy bugs, being out in nature after all. However a German cockroach is unacceptable for a rental I spent 400 for one night one. It ruined my families vacation as we left immediately, not wanting to take the irregular and invasive pests home with us, ending our vacation early, and leaving us exhausted, as we got up at 6 for our vacation on the holiday weekend and returned home at 3 am. We had to cancel an entire day of activities in addition to a horrendously lack of customer service, please save yourself the trouble and rent somewhere else.

Finally putting in a review here, but I booked a cabin at the beginning of October and it was TERRIBLE. Do not waste your money!! The road to get back to the cabins was a VERY rocky and dangerous road, only room for 1 car, better hope someone isn't coming from the other direction!! The cabin was dirty, old worn down furniture, rusty fridge and door, hot tub water was green, mold in the bathroom, the list could go on!!! We immediately felt uncomfortable so we left out to Logan to call them and explain that we wouldn't be staying, and the manager fought me on it until I disputed it with my credit card and got them involved. I did get refunded but my entire trip was ruined. DO NOT BOOK HERE.

We stayed at Springwood Cabins last weekend for the second time, our first being last August. While…read morethere are several cabins on site, we've stayed at The Crows Nest cabin both times. Each cabin is far enough from the others with enough forest between them that you truly feel secluded in your own private site. We absolutely love The Crows Nest and I cannot recommend it enough nor give enough praise to the owners of Springwood due to their attention to detail and the perfect and spotless condition that they keep the cabin in. We've stayed at many cabin rentals throughout Ohio and Springwood Cabins has made us feel the most welcome and relaxed. The moment you walk in, you can feel the love that the owners have put into the cabin. Crows Nest is a two bedroom cabin with a large open living/kitchen area and each bedroom has its own full private bath. The front porch is spacious with four rocking chairs and they've added a brand new covered back deck with a table and plenty of seating and a new hot tub. We spent our breakfast time on the back deck daily. There is also a brand new outdoor grill below. To the left of the cabin is a well maintained fire pit with three sturdy benches, so you don't even need to bring your own camp chairs if you don't want to. Speaking of needs, the cabin is provided with everything you could need, all you have to bring is your food. Seriously. They supply bath towels and wash cloths, hot tub towels, paper towels, extra trash bags, toilet paper, kitchen towels, a fully stocked kitchen of cookware and utensils and plates. The appliances are well kept and clean: coffee maker, microwave, toaster and Keurig (with Keurig cups supplied), even dog bowls for if you bring your pets. And the WiFi is solid as well. When you first walk in, there is soothing music playing and you feel at peace immediately. It is thoughtfully decorated, the kitchen towels are even folded neatly on the stove. In the island counter is a personalized welcome tent card and that little detail made it feel extra special. I am really trying to find something constructive to add but it's difficult because the place is just perfect. If anything, I wish there were some hooks on the bathroom doors to hang my clothes, there is only a towel bar in the bathroom. I eventually want to stay at the Crows Nest in the fall for the changing of leaf color, I can only imagine how beautiful it is. I'd recommend Springwood to anyone who wants to truly get away for some time without sacrificing comfort.

Four Seasons is a few minutes outside the town of Logan and maybe 20 minutes from the state park. The cabins are maybe a 10 minute drive from Kroger or 5 minutes from gas stations, downtown Logan, etc. The cabins were pretty easy to find. The 2 cabins are near each other, but still private. The Song Bird has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, one bathroom, a covered hot tub, deck with charcoal grill and small patio table with 4 chairs, a wood burning fireplace (glorious!), full size fridge, small 4 burner gas stove, and small microwave. Song Bird is furthest back and doesn't offer much of a parking spot. there's a relatively steep hill on one side where you park and a little drop off on the other so not a lot of room to negotiate on the sides of the vehicle. We found it easiest to back into the spot so we didn't have to back down the long driveway which was hard to see because of fallen leaves, etc. The other cabin has a large parking area, which I coveted. The wooded area around the cabins is really pretty, especially during fall when we visited. The rentals are both pet friendly (although, thankfully our cabin did not smell like a dog). The grounds offer a small, picturesque pond with a paddle boat and gazebo, as well as hiking trails and fire pits. There is an orchard as well. There was no cell phone service here for us - we both had Verizon. No WiFi. No phone in the cabin that I saw. Song Bird's bathroom had 4 large towels, washcloths, hand towels and also had shampoo, conditioner and body wash there to use. Decent but small bathroom. The showerhead was a hot mess with water spraying in all the wrong directions. The bathroom has an overhead fan in case you ate chili cheese fries for lunch and don't want to kill the romance in the small cabin. The bedrooms had plenty of pillows. I could have used some extra, heavier blankets but that's because I like to sleep with blankets that weigh about the same as Andre the Giant. Maybe they were stashed somewhere and I didn't see them. The living room was comfortable. Leather couch near the fireplace. We purchased a crate of wood for $5 from Four Seasons and LOVED the wood burning fireplace. Pick up a newspaper or something so you have something to help start the fire. We used one of the Hocking Hills magazines as we had nothing else to use. We brought DVDs (Boardwalk Empire) and made good use of the DVD player there, but they do have satellite tv which was playing classical music when we arrived. There were cups, glasses, wine openers, silverware, plates, etc.in the kitchen. A coffee maker and a decent amount of coffee and powdered creamer left there from other renters. A hot plate, too, I think? A toaster. The only thing in the fridge was ketchup. Some pots and pans and bowls. You''ll be washing whatever you dirty so if you're not a fan of washing dishes bring some paper plates, plastic utensils and drink out of the wine bottle. During our visit the stove didn't work and there was no discount or anything offered. I chose this place partly because it had a stove (many cabins only have a microwave and mini fridge) so we could make breakfasts, etc. so I was bummed we couldn't cook at all. We found out at the last minute so couldn't find another cabin. The driveway to the rental office and to the cabins is a little hilly and bumpy. I kept thinking you'd need 4WD/AWD if you rented on a snowy day in the winter. It would be really cozy and beautiful there in the winter. I looked at a LOT of cabins before choosing Four Seasons and found Four Seasons to be more reasonably priced. The cabin was clean and decently decorated and cozy. Despite the fact that my relationship met its demise in Hocking Hills, I had a nice time at the cabin and would recommend it.

May had some pretty chilly nights so it was definitely hot tub time! We also had a fire one night which was a must in a Hocking Hills cabin. The beds slept great! I stay in the Westins with their "Heavenly Beds" when I'm on the road for business so I am pretty picky with my pillows and sheets. I gotta say, the pillows were not too far off from sublime. We all slept in, which we hardly ever do. I think my favorite part of the stay was sitting out on the balcony before everyone got up, sipping coffee and eating bagels while taking it all in each morning. Tough to beat that!!! --Also, the view from up on the top of the hill behind the cabin of the other hilltops was amazing. The groundskeepers had obviously taken great care in keeping the paths at the top really clean cut, which allowed great views of the pond and apple orchard. This really is a special place to get away for a night or two. It's not the Ritz, but it IS a great little gem if you are looking to get away and also have a good base of operations for the area attractions i.e. Old Man's Cave, Wineries, Bicycle Path from Nelsonville to Athens, Wineries, etc.

My hubby and I made a last minute decision to spend the weekend in Hocking Hills to do some hiking…read more We found Lazy Lane Cabins through a web search and the only cabin available on such short notice was Crooked Creek Cottage. I doubt we'll ever go back to the cabin we used to stay in after this cabin!! Check-in was a piece of cake. Due to Covid there was zero contact and we were able to grab our key in seconds. Their instructions to the cabin were a Godsend since GPS is worthless in the Hills. We found the cabin without any issues. What is great about this cabin is it's five miles from Old Man's Cave and it's on the same road. With our old cabin we would always get a little lost looking for the caves, but not this time. Once again, piece of cake. The cabin is very roomy and comfortable. The hot tub was AMAZING and the bed was comfy. There is also a pizza place two minutes away called Hunt Brothers Pizza that had THE BEST pizza!! The issues we had were very minimal. We had hoped to explore the property since the ad said it was sitting on 6 acres of land, but unfortunately there are quite a few cabins in the area that made it impossible to explore. And the television was so small, it made watching our movies at night very difficult. The sound on the TV was just awful. But we made do! We will definitely return to this cabin the next time we feel the need to visit the Hills.

Our family's experience with Lazy Lane Cabins was extremely disappointing. We were so excited for a…read morerelaxing weekend away, but when we arrived, the steep gravel driveway to our cabin was impossible to drive up. Our vehicle lost traction and began sliding backward, which was frightening and unsafe -- especially with kids in the car. Nowhere on their website or in the booking confirmation did it say that four-wheel drive was needed to reach the cabin. Lazy Lane later tried to excuse it by saying "it's Hocking Hills," but that doesn't mean every cabin in the area requires special vehicles. Any reputable business should clearly disclose if their property isn't safely accessible by a standard car. When we called for help, the only advice we were given was to park at the bottom of the hill and carry our luggage, groceries, and children up the steep driveway in the dark -- an unacceptable and unsafe suggestion. We had no choice but to turn around and go home, completely devastated. We reached out immediately and followed up several times, but it took days to even get a response. By then, they claimed they couldn't refund us because they had already paid the cabin owner -- even though we called the same night the issue happened. That is not the customer's fault; it's a breakdown in how they handle problems. They later offered two free nights as a "good faith" gesture, but they had to be used before the end of the year. With school and work schedules, that offer was useless to us. Lazy Lane Cabins failed to take responsibility, communicate effectively, or provide any meaningful resolution. Their dismissive attitude and lack of customer care were shocking. If you're thinking about booking with them, don't. The cabins may be inaccessible, and if something goes wrong, you'll be left on your own with no help and no refund.

All of the lake front properties are fairly private for being waterfront. This particular cottage is called On the Lake. I'm not big on reviews however I feel most people have only left reviews for complaints. We enjoyed our trip as always. Just a couple things that…read moremaybe could be improved on. First thing is 100% the trees coming out of the driveway need to be trimmed back about 5 feet or a mirror needs to be put in the trees across the street so your guests can see. It was so nerve racking coming out of there every single time as we were worried we would get creamed by a car. Dave even almost got hit pulling out one day when he was there. It's only a matter of time before one of your guests get killed leaving that property. Another issue, we literally saw Dave every day we were there. Friday it was lawn work. Pretty sure that could've been done in between guests, while the cabin was being cleaned. Sunday it was bc the hot tub needed a filter. Then we were packing up today around 10:20 and he was already on the property doing stuff. How are people supposed to come and have a romantic weekend when you have the cabin keepers coming to the property every day? We found it very intrusive and awkward for our relaxing trip. The cabin has the potential to be a really really nice cabin if it was redone/remodeled/updated. We know people would be fighting for that rental being right on the lake and especially having a dock as well. It would be even better if it were more modern and more comfortable. You can just tell it's not as nice as some of the other rentals in the area. We've stayed in a couple and it's definitely nice coming back to a nicer placer that you paid for instead of a place that's just like a regular house. The furniture is old and dirty. The living room and bedroom is very dark and dusty. There are cobwebs on the beams and even in the rack above the oven with the pots and pans and the dishes on the shelves are dusty. If it was a nicer cabin you could charge more money to rent it out. We'd rather pay an extra $300 and stay in a nicer place with WiFi mind you. The only reason we took this one was because it was on the lake and had the dock and we had planned to have a boat with us, which didn't happen. But cabins directly on the lake with docks to rent are very rare in that area and y'all could really be getting so much more if it was nicer. But again we enjoyed our stay. I know not a lot of time is spent at the cabin when we are in the area but when we are at the cabin we want to comfortable and relaxed and not feel like we're being watched.

We stayed at the Settler's Roost cabin…read more NOTES: -If you're coming here while it's rainy or icey, you'll likely want a 4-wheel drive vehicle. My little 2-wheel drive sedan did okay after two days of rain (and lots of mud), but it there would have been any ice or a ridiculous amount of rain, there's no way we were getting out of there. Lots of tight, steep hills and gravel don't play well together. -Neither US Cellular nor Sprint customers seem to have service out here. The cabin has Wi-Fi, which helps, but make sure to plan ahead. It isn't often that I find myself in a "genuine" deadzone. No roaming, no nothing. -There are some small, cement blocks leading from the gravel driveway to the front door of the cabin. It's not a lot, but it's a little bit. However, if it's been raining or wet, expect quite a decent amount of mud from your car to the front door (there's a nice doormat right inside the door that helps with that problem, though). PROS: -It's decently spacious. You wouldn't want a family in here (or more than two people, really), but you won't feel like you're constantly on top of your cabin-mate either. -The bedroom is pitch black in the evenings. Absolutely pitch black. If you love sleep like that, you'll love it. Otherwise, cracking the bedroom door a bit lets the ambient light from the microwave and oven display provide a bit of direction in the room. -The cabin has Wi-Fi. I know, I know, we're escaping from nature, but without phone service OR Wi-Fi, I would have felt a bit uncomfortable in case of an emergency. Plus, the Wi-Fi will let you watch some romantic films on the TV or other things like that. -The cabin sounds so lovely in the rain. It has a thinner roof than most homes, so you can definitely hear all of the raindrops. No leaks, though, so that's nice. -The cabin is close enough to nature that you'll likely see nature. There were two deers nomming their way through our backyard grass while we were there. Expect to hear lovely bird sounds and everything. As we came in winter, there were virtually no bugs, but I'm sure that isn't the case in summer. For enjoyment of the summer animal sounds, though, the windows are open-able and do have screens on them. -The cabin was rustically decorated. In addition to being a full wood construction, the small decor additions add to the rustic feel - not detract. That's nice. -The fireplace was used a heat source for the cabin. It was directly attached to the thermometer for the room - and it does put out heat! I wish it was able to just turn on and look beautiful without so much heat, but it definitely has the "real fireplace" feel to it, so that's a nice addition. -Hot tub on the back porch was perfectly warmed with clean water and no debris in it. Hot tub lid was easy to get on and off. -No laundry. However, the cabin does provide four full-sized towels, some washclothes, and some hand towels. With all of the hooks around the cabin, it's easy to let things airdry and reuse them as necessary during your stay. There was also 4 rolls of toilet paper and an extra roll of papertowels. We didn't run out of anything during our stay. CONS: -No dishwasher. This is likely just a silly expectation on my part, but I was surprised to see no dishwasher in an otherwise-equipped cabin. This wouldn't be a huge problem on its own, but as the cabin only has two copies of most things (bowls, teaspoons, etc.), you'll be doing dishes pretty regularly throughout your getaway. -The promotional photos make it look super private. That's only somewhat the case. When you come in, you'll notice lots of cameras and signs about how the property is under video supervision. And when you make it to the cabin itself, you'll see that you definitely have neighbors. Not to the point where you share a driveway, but to the point where I ended up waving at them while we were both loading up our vehicles at the same time. This is not really a "super private" cabin. -While the cabin is "full plumbing", the hot water is a bit on the "has character" side. To get the water to stay warm in the shower, you'll need to turn on the bathroom sink at the same time. This only manages to get the water to a tolerable lukewarm temperature. To get the kitchen sink to a hot temperature to wash dishes, you'll have to turn on that bathroom sink at the same time as well. It's not the end of the world, but it's a bit of trial and error you'll figure out as you go. -You have to be a bit careful around some of the wood areas. While the floor and some of the walls/areas of this full wood cabin construction have been sealed, it's clear that some of the areas were sanded but not painted with sealant. After getting a small wood sliver dragging my hand along a drawer front, I was a lot more careful.

You are just a short drive away from an abundance of gorgeous hiking trails. Being able to enjoy the hot-tub on the porch while being surrounded by forrest sounds and gorgeous views was just the reset we needed. My only true negative was that the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. I do think there are a few minor things that could make this cabin even better. (From a picky convenience point) -the couch is less for lounging and more for sitting up (like a waiting room) a soft ottoman would really improve the ability for couples to cuddle by the fire. -there are no couch side tables to set drinks on -the shower is SMALL (which is to be expected in a tiny cabin) if you added a shower head that can come down it would make it much easier to wash off mud from hiking because maneuvering in that tiny space is nearly impossible. - some sort of shelf/counter space for the bathroom that way if you are staying longer you can keep your necessities stored in there.

When I showed up we were shown the beds and given the opportunity to walk around with the cabin owner. Everything looked clean. We stayed 4 nights and there were no bites between the 6 of us. Ok now that part is done -- the cabin is a bit past it's prime. There is no Wi-Fi. I am a worry wart so I was nervous about the structure of the home. Starting at the top portion of the house: there were three beds up on the left, careful of the second (or was it the third) from the top stair which isn't truly a stair anymore, it's leaning at a 45 degree angle so it would be easy to slide down the stairs if you aren't using the stair rail. The main floor: the bedroom on this floor is perfectly fine, though the bed is a bit springy. It is connected to a LARGE bathroom with a jet garden tub. The kitchen is lacking cabinet space and counter space, if you are planning on cooking. The fridge is also void of the drawers, and door rails so there's no stage on the door. The stove has seen better days but mostly works fine. The living room has 2 couches, 1 love seat, wood burner, and an older box TV. The floor is a bit weak in here, seemed like one good ragger away from caving in. There are two ways to get to the wrap around porch which is also way past it's prime. That's really all I'll say about that because it's fine enough. There is a grill. The basement: this is where the shower is located. It's also where you get to the hot tub. Other than that there wasn't anything amiss downstairs. Everything was pleasant, it was clean and everything smelled good. There were plenty of clean towels and the kitchen has enough in there, that most people can cook about anything. We found 1 tick the entire time we were there (4 nights 5 days)

We looked at the address on the website, however it takes you to a location about an hour away from the actual castle. So, we arrived about 2 hours later than we anticipated. Driving around the middle of nowhere in the dark looking for a destination with no address was quite a challenge. When I called to get directions, I was treated extremely poorly from someone who I assume is the owner of the house. He reluctantly gave me some directions, but was not pleasant at all to deal with. When we arrived at the house, it was infested with ladybugs. Literally hundreds and hundreds of ladybugs inside the house. They were covering the ceiling and walls, and were in the bed. Absolutely awful. The woman who showed us around when we arrived said they had fumigated the day prior (not a pleasant welcome), and that they shouldn't be a problem. Well, they were. We could not sleep, there were ladybugs flying everywhere, crawling over everything. Terrible. And lastly, the hot tub. It smelled of mildew and mold. We did not use it because we could not bring ourselves to get into it. A hot tub used by the general public should be treated with chemicals regularly, and this one clearly had not been. Absolutely awful. So, we departed after only one night, although we had booked for two nights. I have called the owners of the house, and have not received a call back. $430 down the drain, and there is no effort thus far to make things right or even respond to the issues we had.
