This is a little late, and I apologize. Our wedding was 11/22/25, and I cannot say enough about the quality of the food. Our guests are still raving about it. I will certainly continue to recommend them to everyone who is looking for a caterer. That said, this was a second wedding (both of us in our 70's) and most of the planning fell upon us. We hired their coordinator for the day of and once we dropped off our centerpieces, etc., for the reception, I was free to spend the rest of the day getting ready, relaxing. We hired Blue Rocks Catering for our wedding, and it was hands down one of the best decisions we made. Our planner recommended them, and after comparing menus from other vendors, Blue Rocks stood out with their creative options and emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. We booked a tasting with our chosen dishes and were blown away--the food was better than restaurant quality, and our only hope was that they could replicate it on the big day. They absolutely delivered! The hand-passed appetizers on the Fort Adams lawn were a huge hit--especially the bacon-wrapped dates, scallops, and mini hot lobster rolls. Dinner was equally amazing, and impressively served hot and fresh despite the challenges of an outdoor venue. Our planner, who has attended countless tastings, even commented that it was some of the best catering she had ever experienced. From the day we met Katie at our tasting, we loved her style. She made us an incredible meal on night one and we decided on her services that night on the way home. She and her staff impressed us from that point on. Katie took the time to listen to us, work with us, and accommodate our styles and special requests. Since we were doing some of the background work ourselves given a family catering background, she also gracefully let us take the lead on some pieces that would typically be her responsibility. The food at the event was absolutely delicious and we've been getting comments ever since that nnight. Amazing grilled cheese appetizers, and the buffet was beautiful and didn't compromise the integrity/deliciousness of the food. I probably ate about 1000 scallops and bacon. The team was extremely knowledgeable about the wedding catering process and we loved that they used all local foods and vendors. Plus, her prices were SO reasonable - Blue Rocks Catering is worth every penny. Given the nor'easter and the flooding of our venue day and night of, Katie and her staff pivoted, shifted, and ran with every fire drill and situation that came their way, putting on an exceptional event for us. An outsider would have never known the stress they probably went through that day. One of our top requests was that the bar line never get past 2-3 people, and the bartenders kept it going all night. Everyone was so happy with the service and impressed with the quality of the staff. Extra special shoutout to that incredible staff, who went above and beyond to trudge through the mud and rain for probably close to 10 hours and still smiled at us every time we saw them. The title is misleading, since Blue Rocks Catering is also a Cafe/Sandwich shop that is one of the best I've ever experienced. Their specialty sandwiches are amazing, including the "Gooseberry" (roast turkey, cranberry and sage stuffing) and the "Fort Adams" (grilled chicken, avocado, tomato, basil, spinach and fresh mozzarella). There's a counter with a few seats, but most people are here for the take-out. Looks also like a popular spot for summer residents picking up ready-made lobster salad, chicken pot pies, and other savories. A young friendly staff is very attentive and our family loved the overall vibe of the place. Highly recommend for gathering picnic provisions before heading to Fort Adams or other parks near Ocean Drive. Also, a refreshing distance away from the craziness of Bannister Wharf and Downtown. We just had the most amazing surprise 50th birthday party for my husband this past weekend thanks to Katie and her team at Blue Rocks Catering. I wasn't even sure I could pull off this party on the beach. It was Katie's calm demeanor and her can do anything attitude that allowed me to trust we could carry out this party on the beach. Every detail was perfect. The food was so scrumptious that our friends and family are still telling us how much they enjoyed it. The staff and bartender were so friendly and effective at tending to our guests. Everything was timed perfectly and the night of the party I could sit back and enjoy everything. If you love seafood don't forget to ask about their incredible raw bar. It was a wonderful added addition for a beach party. Ingrid and her team at Blue Rocks were the caterers for our wedding. To start with the positive: Blue Rocks' food is totally delicious. All of our guests were really impressed with how perfectly the steak was cooked (not overdone!), and how great all of the food was, from the appetizers to the main course. Ingrid has two women on her staff who helped run our event on the day of, and they were fantastic. Ingrid was also very flexible while we planned our wedding - we had various things we wanted to personalize, and she appeared really willing to work with us to make these touches happen. In the end though, her flexibility was more like empty promises - many of the things we thought would happen didn't, and in retrospect, we just wish that Ingrid would have been upfront and honest about what she and her team could and could not do. Although we had an absolutely wonderful wedding, and our guests loved the food, we would still NOT RECOMMEND Blue Rocks to any other couple because we don't think it is worth the stress and work to manage Ingrid and her team. During our planning process, Ingrid was not very responsive - whether to us or to our wedding planner. Her unresponsiveness to emails and phone calls wasn't the biggest problem, but it added just a little more stress to what was already an intense process. In terms of the personalization: there were a number of things that we had agreed Ingrid and her team would do: having wine bottles on the table at dinner for the first toast, ensuring that the welcome station was continuously stocked with drinks, lighting tikki torches once it got dark, cleaning up the majority of plates and glasses before they left for the night. We were therefore kind of shocked when the father of the groom was giving the first toast of the night, and we realized there were no wine bottles on the tables, and no wine in any guests' glasses. The welcome station ran out of drinks. The tikki torches were not lit, and the tables were left a complete mess, so we -- bride and groom -- spent the majority of Sunday morning cleaning up trash and dishes. We were REALLY surprised to see the staff changing into their clothes after 4:30pm, when guests had started to arrive. Our venue was not guest-ready at the agreed upon time, and we really hold Blue Rocks responsible for not managing their preparation appropriately. Ingrid also left our event earlier in the night than we thought she would, and she did not check in with either bride or groom to make sure that we were all set before departing. Again, none of this ruined our wedding, but if we could do it again, we would not hire Blue Rocks, and we would definitely NOT recommend them to anyone we know. Even if the food is great, we don't think it is worth the aggravation of working with management that will disappoint you in this way. read more

Pardon me while I gush about my experience with these caterers. Blue Rocks was really something special. From the first response to our initial inquiry, they always got back to us quickly and with complete answers to our questions. We arranged for a tasting in January to discuss our August wedding and left impressed with all the food we tried and feeling confident that Ingrid and Katie were the ones we wanted to head this important aspect of our big day. My husband and I are both in fine dining, and it's very rare for us to be completely relaxed and impressed by food and service, but we were both beyond thrilled. They transformed our venue into the perfect casual, sweet, beach-front look we were looking for. They made sure we always had our favorite drink and even made me a plate of food so I'd take a second to have some dinner in the midst of all the excitement. Our guests were raving about the food and I received so many compliments on how great the service was. They were so easy to work with from the very beginning, working within our budget to make sure we got everything we wanted. It was also great that they were fine with us bringing our own desserts and wine (they would also have let us bring our own liquor, but their price for open bar was so reasonable that we didn't feel the need). When our wedding day arrived, I knew everything would go smoothly on their end and that there was nothing to worry about, and that's exactly what happened. If I had to do it all again, I'd absolutely go with Blue Rocks. You won't be disappointed if you do, too! read more

We used Blue Rocks Catering for our wedding with 180 guests a few weeks ago in Newport at Fort Adams. Katie and her crew at Blue Rocks were a PLEASURE to work with, from our first meeting all the way up to the wedding day itself. The food was phenomenal, and there were so many choices when it came to hors d'oeuvres and meal options. She made it very easy to customize what we wanted and how we wanted it set up and displayed for both the cocktail hour and the reception. Many of our guests raved about how delicious all the food was! Moreover, Katie was an absolute delight to work with. She was fun, helpful, and extremely reliable. She even let us stop by the day before to drop off some booze for her to prepare a sangria overnight for one of our cocktail options. During the cocktail hour and reception, she made sure one of her workers was constantly watching for us and getting us drinks or anything else we needed while we socialized with everyone there.
