Awesome sports/dive-bar vibe with not just your typical "bar food" options. Huge portions of delicious food & our server Wally was awesome.

The place brings good vibes to enjoy play some pool, darts and relax while maybe catching a good game! The staff was super friendly and helpful! Very helpful with meeting needs of their guest! The food was superb!! We tried a lot of dishes and all came out perfectly! Ans the portions are super large leaving you with take homes that will be eaten! We come back again!!

We came here for my birthday and had a great time. Crab cakes are good as are the seafood fra Diablo . Comes on a platter so lots of food. Menu is limited for a certain time but will resume as the summer goes on. Good time had by all and right by the marina.

My review is strictly about the bar and the bands. I came here with friends to see a band called Southern Steel. They don't play often in my area so I decided to check out Blue Rock Cafe. As I entered I noticed they have two bars in the main area. A large bar as you walk in and a single bar on the other side of the room. Intermittently, are some large dining tables. And out on their patio is another bar where the smokers can go. Boaters can pull up and dock here and go in for drinks and food. It's located on the Matawan River. This place is nothing fancy. It has an old country feel to it. The staff was really nice. I was very impressed by the bouncers. They were friendly, and very organized. There was a drunk woman near us who tried to start a fight, and they surrounded her in seconds. They took control of what could've been a bad situation but they handled it perfectly. All in all the band was a lot of fun there was plenty of room for dancing, and everyone had a great time. It was ugly sweater night with prizes. They make decent drinks and their pretty reasonable. They serve single and doubles. I chose to drink club soda because I was the DD and the bartenders were fine with that. Parking is somewhat limited this place is on the water. I hear they serve Colossal shrimp cocktail and some other foods like burgers, chicken wings, chicken fingers and some seafood and salads. I'd like to come back and try some of their food.

What a fun place, with a warm hometown kinda vibe, cold beer and good food. View of the bay/marina, outdoor bar and seating, lots of bar seating inside and restaurant area too. Good mix of music playing, very friendly bartenders. Came here for the day. Here for the night for a concert. Googled a nearby place by beach for some food and drinks. This place is a hidden gem. Dive local bar, but clean, well lit, people came With families for lunch, diverse crowd at bar. Came here at noon and didn't leave until 4. Calamari was really good, so were nachos. My sister and I split a small nacho order. More than enough for 2. If I am ever back in the area, I would definitely come back.

Love this dive bar, excellent seafood. Always a good place to chill and throw down some king crab. Place has one hell of a view too.

This place is dirty looking on the inside. Super outdated and the bathrooms were filthy. Can't imagine how the kitchen is.

Staff were beyond friendly. Cons -- THE FOOD!! We had pork belly and duck confit appetizer. Pork belly was drenched in sauce and overcooked. Duck dish was good but was a spread and served with such a small amount of bread. Main courses -- presentation was terrible -- i ordered NY Strip with french fries and veggies. Hubby ordered jambalaya -- both dishes were served luke warm and looked as though they had been sitting. French fries were all tiny pieces as if they were at the bottom of the fryer. The steak was a poor cut. The jambalaya lacked flavor. The protein on the dish was all overcooked. Dessert THE Elvis -- sounded sooo delicious but was basically a spoonful of peanut butter. Even the ice cream they served with it could not drown out the overpowering peanut butter flavor. I did enjoy the cappuccino. We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday and he didn't even eat his meal. It was that bad. Sadly, one and done for us. I know they changed their menu so perhaps this is not their best lineup but I cannot forgive the terrible presentation. The price point for what they are presenting its insane.

Why the hate for this spot?…read more Is it fancy? Hell no, but that's the point. Up the creek is a no-frills hybrid sports-dive-bayside bar that serves up cheap food, cheap drinks, and cheap company, in the best possible way. You're not coming here to be fancy, you're coming to watch the Mets, Yankees, Giants, or Jets on one of the huge TVs they have everywhere, while sucking down 3$ beers, and when the time calls for it, a porkroll* with cheese on a roll and an order fries. You can choose the bar, a high top, or the outdoor bar when the weather is nice enough (you'll always find me at the bar). There are some stairs to get up here, but you'll be rewarded with a view of the marina...and route 35....and if you look hard enough the parkway....ok there are stairs that lead up to a bar, that's all you gotta know. It's the perfect spot to catch the game and hang with the locals. Come in, say hey to Linda, and drink enough that you need some greasy food to make everything feel better. Doesn't get much better in my humblest of opinions. _____________________ *Call it "Taylor ham" and you're dead to me.

Leashed and friendly dogs are allowed on their second story outdoor deck and there is a staircase to the left of the building to go up. Actually, all of the pizza slices looked really good here. Nice and thick slices, which I like as a change up. When I got home, I ate these slices so quickly. They were delicious. The chicken tasted great, and had alot of cheese on it too. A mild Buffalo sauce used, but that didn't bother me. Very filling. Overall, I really enjoyed this pizza. This is one of my favorite chicken Francese entrees in the area! Since it's my favorite dish I've probably ordered it hundreds of times in NJ. The chicken is thin and cooked well, the sauce has the perfect amount of lemon, and the pasta when cooked al dente pairs great with the sauce. The staff is always professional and service is typically quick. Since this establishment does primarily takeout, expect to wait longer Friday-Sunday. Expect to use street parking, which can be a little tricky when it's busy for a quick takeout order (however I rarely have trouble except for a Friday or Saturday night). This is a classic pizzeria style restaurant. It's nothing fancy, but the food is delicious.
