When my sister told my young daughters that there was snow in the forecast for Christmas in Blue Ridge, my Beach Babies begged to spend the weekend in the mountains with my family so that they could see snow for the first time. We packed up Christmas and checked into our cabin on December 23 around 415pm, unloaded all of our things and settled in for the bad weather forecasted ahead. Around 515pm on December 24, the family dog alerted us to a fire on the front porch, along the (locked) garage wall. The next 15 minutes are a blur of trying to put out the fire, find our exact location for 911 and finally realizing that we were in trouble and couldn't get out of the burning cabin. God is good, and we were able to escape safely, with only 2nd degree burns and a couple of very traumatized little girls. My car was parked in front of the house and was destroyed by the fire, along with all of our belongings and Christmas presents that were left behind. To date, Vacasa has yet to return my numerous calls regarding the fire or communicate with me regarding my losses. VRBO advised that Vacasa would refund the charges for Dec 24-25 because we were not able to stay those nights. Vacasa has not refunded that charge. Vacasa has also not covered the additional hotel charge we incurred on Christmas Eve, after we had to evacuate the property. Lindsay, from the local office in Ellijay GA contacted me directly after she was made aware of the fire and assured me that she would handle the situation and be in communication with our next steps. For 2 weeks she assured me she would provide the info as soon as she had it. One week there was an appraiser and she would get the info. The next week the appraiser hadn't been assigned. The third week following the fire, she stopped communicating. Vacasa customer service made note of all of these things, multiple times, and promised someone from another department would be in touch with me, although it is "against company policy" to share what department or contact info for such. My wallet and Samsung watch were recovered and given directly to Lindsay to return to me, although she failed to mention it when we discussed my concern for my missing wallet. Upon being informed that she was given my belongings, I contacted her with the information and asked her directly if she had my things. Fortunately, she "remembered" she did and agreed to over-night them to me. For 2 weeks she said she sent them, but couldn't tell me which service she used or provide tracking info. The 3rd week, she stopped communicating. When the sheriff's office got involved, they gave her 24hrs to "find" the postage receipt. Less than an hour later she produced my wallet and watch with the explanation that while looking for the receipt, she "found it and thought it had been sent already". I reported all of this to one of the call center reps at Vacasa, again, although I don't anticipate hearing from them. read more

We stayed in Panoramic Views....this place was absolutely beautiful. We went in November so the views were all colored in the colors of fall. The cabin could not have been more perfect. Huge huge windows, gorgeous decor, and very relaxing for a quick family getaway. Our grill did not have any gas, we made a call and someone was there within ten minutes to take care of providing us with a new tank. Highly recommend this cabin and cabin rental company. We will definitely return. read more

Recently Vacasa took over Blue Ridge Cabin Rentals and our family's vacation in two weeks. Without notifying me, they raised the price of the rental and demanded the larger payment. I have spoken to employees and management who all don't seem to know what's going on. No one can tell me if my vacation is now cancelled because I'm certainly not paying hundreds of dollars more since the acquisition. Looks like no family vacation. Amazing cabin, SO CLEAN, & don't even get me started on the bed we slept on.. since then I have tried everything to replicate that level of comfort.. i have yet to find the remedy. It was beyond serene. I just kept saying... this feels like the closest I'll get to heaven before getting there. We have wanted to go back, & I have told many of our experience! Had a vacation planned for the first week of April 2020. Due to the COVID virus we were not allowed to go into the county without fear of being arrested. Tried to cancel but we were within our 30 day no refund window and were denied a refund. The insurance that was offered at time of purchase also denied our claim saying that the virus was an exception. It takes weeks to get a call back from Vacasa, if they call back at all. My family is out of our annual vacation this year due to the money lost on this rental. I won't be using any Vacasa properties again if this is how they are going to treat their customers. read more

Let's start by saying they have cabins for under 100/night. That is the best price we could find, and better than most of the hotels in the area. Our cabin was about 7 miles from downtown. You drive right by Unicoi park to get there, so there is easy access to most everything in the area. The cabin was clean and spacious for a one bedroom. The hot tub was clean and in good condition. There was a tv with all the movie channels, who really needs that on vacation. We did have a pool table and a radio too. My only complaints were that grill was old and in need of repair, and our cabin had no firepit for sitting outside and making s'mores. At $90/night near helen you can't expect perfection. Like the reviewer said how much time do you really spend at your cabin. read more

Last month me and my fiance took both our parents along with some of our siblings to Helen GA for a meet and greet weekend. The cabin we stayed at was called Almost Heaven. The cabin had spacious 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a lot of seating outside and fun rec room. The cabin was clean and tidy and very spacious for all of us to roam around in for 4 nights without hurting one another :) My only negatives was that there wasn't any dish detergent or laundry detergent. I say that because if it is expected that dishes be clean and towels be in the washer before check out , then you would expect those basics items. To the managements credit they did bring some right out when we called to ask abotu those items. We are planning to go back because for us its a good meeting destination for family around holidays. read more

If it would be a Zero star review, I would put it, this people are the worst. WARNING: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY RENTING A CABIN AT THIS PLACE!!! My husband and I made reservation to Spend Christmas (12-24-13) to (12-26-13), we stayed in # 245 cabin and we were not happy with the place, we had to leave the cabin morning Christmas day. Here is the list of the things that didn't allow us to enjoy our staying at the cabin and basically ruined our Christmas vacation: 1. The heater does not make the room warm at all, we were frizzing all night so unable to sleep. (we were considering leaving the place around 3:00 am) 2. All around the place was dirty: windows and blinds, hair on the pillows and blankets, jacuzzi, spider webs. 3. The bathroom seat is old and need to be replaced. 4. The place does not have a pleasant smell when entering the cabin. 5. Everything looks super old and many things were broken or malfunctioning. We spoke with them trying to get at least half of our money back, but they said no, this people are so unprofessional. read more

Amenities didn't all work, mattress was very old (you sunk to the middle like a hammock), the communication with their 'service' team was and is awful-- other than that though the cabin was fine. It was a bit run down but nothing to lose sleep over and the location was great. Lower your expectations and make sure you have no issues that would require you to call their service team. I would LOVE to give these "cabins" 3 to 4 stars. But I just can't. They are 3 stars for the setting but 1 star for the quality of the homes so I averaged. Unfortunately, whoever planned these rental places decided that less vegetation is better than more. Sure, the views of the mountains are precious but don't sacrifice by clearcutting the entire lot. Did you ever think that maybe the tenants would really enjoy having some trees around them? I guess not. This segues into my second complaint. When you drive up to these "residences" they really look like you're driving up to a motel. Instead of paving every square inch in front of the porch, try to make it look like it's a home owned by somebody who cares about curb appeal. Once inside I'm struck by the endless litany of laminated instructions stapled to the tongue-and-groove paneling. That's right, laminated and stapled. I felt like I was in at the Velvet Elvis Vegas Inn. No schmidt. But wait...it gets better. Upstairs in the loft game room is a freaking blanket, stapled to the wall with a little 3x1 frame stock around it that's supposed to be art. ROFLMAO. There were many corners cut in construction of these places. And that's sad. Example: They put all natural wood on the exterior and interior yet use laminate flooring. Give me a freaking break people. Now don't get me wrong, the area is spectacular if you are a mountain boy or mountain girl. If all you need is a staging area for adventure, hook up with these folks and negotiate a sweet deal, especially mid-week, which is when you want to be here anyway. So the rating is not so much for the area and more for the quality of the accomodations. UPDATE: I changed this to a 3 star. After reading it again today, I realized I was a little too harsh and more angry at the lack of craftsmanship in the construction than the quality of the "cabins." There are roomy, full-sized kitchens, washer/dryer, televisions, DVD players, AC. But you shouldn't be hanging around the crib anyway. You should be out enjoying the area. read more

My issues lie with the management company of the cabins and not the cabins themselves. I believe they have had a change in staff over the years because the staff used to be quite friendly and helpful. My biggest issue is that they charge a $60 cleaning fee and then ask for a tip--- for a home that isn't even truly cleaned. I have a toddler so its important to me that the cabin not have old/loose food particles. We found them under the couches and in the couches. The cabin was not filthy but if you are paying $60 to have a small cabin cleaned, I think its reasonable to expect it to be fully cleaned. Next, the roads are not paved. They are just dirt and gravel which is fine, but the office contacted my family to say that my mother was driving recklessly. She actually was not, but because of the condition of the road, her tires were slipping and sliding. The staff seemed to be accusatory and threatening instead of looking for explanation. The process for actually getting the cabin is also quite intrusive. The company should update their website. Instead of using a secure method of payment, you have to fax your credit card information to the company. The staff then has access to your CC#, Exp, CVV, etc. for as long as they like. They also require a copy of your drivers license. It seems as though the company should upgrade their website to provide better privacy of information for their customers. Next, the company accepts no responsibility for actually making sure the cabin is functional. For example, if your hot tub doesn't work. OH WELL TOO BAD. I feel this is a bad business practice as it's their responsibility to ensure that the items in the cabin are in working order BEFORE you arrive. The cabin it self (ours was called Tranquility) was gorgeous. It had a wonderful outdoor area with a fire pit, swing, deck, and enclosed hot tub area. It was spacious. We enjoyed our time there. The cabin was decorated nicely and there were special touches that made it feel very cozy. read more

Bill's review is very true, however, you do get a lot for the price. I believe for the price you get a steal of a deal. For less than $100 a night you get a house which is pretty clean with hot-tub, sometimes pool table, and fireplace. If you stay in Helen you would pay that for a shabby hotel room without the awesome views. We have stayed there 3 times and for our 2nd and 3rd stay they gave us a great discount because we were repeat customers. Also, I do want to point out that every cabin rental I've stayed at (ex: Pine Mountain, GA) there are always instructions posted everywhere, I do not believe Blue Ridge is unique in that respect. read more

My wife and I stayed at one of the company's cabin this weekend. Overall, we were very impressed with it. If we come back to Helen, we will certainly use them again. PROS: 1. The cabin itself. It was beautiful. We stayed in one called "Dancing Bear" and it was a wonderful cabin. Well decorated and well-built, we found that we could make ourselves at home quickly. The bed was comfortable, the water was hot and the hot tub was welcome after the drive up from Atlanta. The cabin was very clean and had clearly seen the proper amount of maintenance. 2. The location. The location is great. The cabin is far enough away from the other cabins to not give you a "closed in" feel but close enough that you didn't feel too far away from help if one needed it. It is close enough to Helen that you can easily drive into town for a visit and then retreat back to your cabin to rest away from the bustle of the town. 3. The staff. We had a small problem on Saturday morning (I'll get to that in a second) and we had to call their office number. We had to leave a message on their voicemail but they were quick to return our call. They were quite friendly and helpful. CONS: 1. The driveway for the cabin was quite steep. It was no problem for our Audi but other vehicles might have found it daunting. You might want to avoid this particular cabin if your vehicle doesn't have good brakes and power to get back up the incline. My old Ford truck, for instance, would never have made it especially if the weather had been bad. 2. The shower was, quite possibly, the most bizarre that I've seen. This was the problem on Saturday morning. Both my wife and I were totally perplexed as to how to turn on the shower. The staff was helpful and told us the key to the puzzle. Maybe it was my own ignorance but I had never before seen a shower that went from bath faucet to shower head by pulling down on the faucet. It was odd. Small issue though. 3. The internet was pretty much nonexistent. We had an excellent, strong signal from the router but we could never get our tablets or our phones to pull up even the simplest webpage or answer email. I include this as a "CON" because I know some folks are dependent on their internet connection as I usually am (I run an internet dependent business). However, to be quite honest, I found it relaxing to leave it all behind for the weekend. So, for my wife and I, this was not really that much of a "CON" but it might be for you. Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay at the "Dancing Bear" with Blue Ridge Cabin Rentals. We will not only stay with them again but, if we do go back to Helen, I will request the same cabin. read more

The gray fox was deceivingly advertised and disappointing. The rental agency gave me a run around and started sending my calls directly to voicemail instead of resolving my problems. Upon arrival there was a sink full of dishes and trash piled up on porch. One heck of a way to be greeted for the weekend. Overall the cabin was clean, but is in desperate need of an update and simple repairs. The hot tub was pretty nice at some point, but that was long ago. Instead of spending that much to stay in a cabin outside of Hellen; go ahead and spend it closer to activities. If you want quality then skip the gray fox. If you want seclusion in what I consider a single wide then give it a try. read more

We took our first trip to Helen in February. When we pulled up to the cabin, we were so excited to stay because the curb appeal was amazing. When we got in the door, at first we loved how it looked. You knew you were staying in a true mountain cabin when you first walked in. After being in there for a little while, we noticed the HUGE amount of dust that was floating in the air. Being a severe asthmatic, I began to worry. Thankfully I brought all of my medical necessities to get us through the trip. I took a walk around the cabin to check everything out and noticed dead bugs all over the floor, cob webs hanging from the lamp shade and all fixtures. The bed downstairs leaned as if it were broken. The hot tub only worked for one night and the grill didn't work hardly at all. The cables for the upstairs loft were missing so the kids did not have a TV. None of the pictures on the website are what we got when we arrived. The positives that I do have are the towels being fresh, the showers were clean and the toilets were clean. When I called the front desk to make them aware of the cabin being filthy, all they did was offer me 10% off the next visit. I really hope to be able to stay with BRCR again due to the ease of booking, but I will have to make sure I firmly request the cabin be cleaned before I get there. I am still hesitant to stay again. read more

My husband and I just got back from staying at Country Cottage (#175) for our anniversary. In general, the cabin was nice. Perfect size; it had all the basics we needed. Sheets and towels were clean. The cabin is in a quiet location that wasn't hard to reach or find. For the most part we did enjoy our stay there. There were a few things we found wrong, but not bad enough to call immediately to complain. Some of the things we didn't care for: 1) every evening small, very fast roaches came out in the kitchen. We each killed numerous ones every night. 2) The sticks on the blinds in the kitchen and bathroom didn't work. The blinds couldn't be tilted at all. 3) Every night the refrigerator would form a pool of water in front of it. One morning I found water dribbling out from under the crispers and, when I removed them, I found a large puddle of water (I mopped it all up). We weren't keeping any water in the fridge, so it didn't come from us spilling anything. There also was a lot of condensation on our items in the fridge every day. 4) There were dead bugs next to the couch and around the Jacuzzi tub. 5) Long hair in the bathroom/shower. Neither of us has long hair. 6) There is poor lighting in the kitchen, and the light over the stove (under the microwave) would only work once in a while, and stopped working altogether by the time we left. 7) the jets on the house-side of the hot tub didn't work. 8) some of the screens on the back porch were broken and thus the porch was buggy. This doesn't mean we won't rent from this company again, but we probably won't rent this cabin again. read more

We just got back from staying at BRC cabin in Helen,GA. The cabin name was Autumn View. The cabin on the inside was very nice. Just as the pictures show on their website. The kitchen was well equipped. But there was a few problems. One, when you sit out on the deck in the back, you are over looking someones backyard. There is a single wide trailer w/ 2 shipping containers parked in the back at the foot of the hill this cabin is on. Ugly view. Not only that, but the people who live at this trailer have dogs in kennels. We were there for 5 nights and these dogs barked and bayed and howled 3 of those nights. All night. Had a hard time going to sleep and staying asleep. There are at least 4 other cabins in sight of this one that would have same problem with the dogs. The other problem is the gas grill at this cabin. Take your on grill if you can. Their grill is a rusted out piece of crap. I had planned to grill most of our meals there. As for the people with BRC they are friendly, easy to make reservations. read more

I was about 7 or 8 months pregnant with my last baby when we visited and it was very relaxing. Our cabin had the hot tub on the private balcony area. Places to eat and shop wasn't too far out. Rent at Your Own Risk If you're looking to rent a cabin, don't spend more than you can afford to throw away. This is kind of long but I think you should know this before you decide. We saved up and rented a luxury cabin. BRC called us as we were pulling in the parking lot to check in to tell us there was no power. There was a city wide power outage. So of course we asked what our options were. There were no options. We could either stay and wait for power or not. The representative there said repeatedly that she "could not authorize a refund" so despite the cabin not having any power, she made it seem like we were most likely going to pay for it anyway. We decided to try and wait for the power to come back since we would lose money either way. She didn't even offer us a flashlight, candles or anything. The power never came on. We couldn't even shower much less use the hot tub, televisions, sauna, waterfalls or any appliance in the kitchen - all of the amenities we paid for. So basically we spent nearly $500 to sit in a dark cabin in the woods. We were miserable and decided we couldn't do two nights of this so we decided to check out. They did end up giving us a portion of our money back after we requested that something be done but we still ended up paying $270 to use the bed, toilet and the pool table (while it was still light enough to see). I worried all night about not getting our money back and ruining our first year anniversary by booking this cabin. Needless to say we won't be back. I know that if something like this happened again, that BRC would not take care of the customer. So, rent at your own risk. Oh, just as a side note - there are rules and little fees for everything. Even though you pay a $40 cleaning fee, they charge you $5 if you don't take your own trash with you. Read the Rules & Regulations book and look for instructions (one was even stapled to the wall) or face paying additional fees. read more

Stayed two nights during a busy June weekend in Helen. Cabin was about 7 miles away from town, up the side of a steep hill and in the middle of a forest. Was nice and secluded. Amenities (hot tub, cable tv, pool table) were there as promised. Did have a few problems. 1 - Directions were a bit confusing, sending us up gravel drives when the information said "paved." Cabin was also tricky to locate because the cabin names aren't displayed on the drive with signs, only the cabin address (but Blue Ridge didn't provide addresses). 2 - The couches and futon were covered in sand. The cabin was clean, but no one had thought to vacuum the seating. 3 - Our water was not turned on when we arrived on Friday night. We were prepared to call on Saturday morning about the problem, but someone came and turned the water on early that morning. 4 -Reviews that I had read about the cabin cited problems with scorpions. The reviews couldn't have been more accurate. We found a dead scorpion on the floor, but swept it up with no problems. However, when I went to get dressed in the bathroom on Sunday morning, I was greeted by a scorpion crawling out of the drain in the sink. I would have liked better outdoor lighting, too. There was only one light to greet us when we came in after a night on the town in Helen, and it was so dark among the trees! Aside from these minor issues, we had a nice weekend away, and the cabin was worth the money spent. I love the Helen area and am glad to find some nice places to stay in and around the city. read more
