I tell you something, if you look hard enough in Grantham town, you'll find some real gems. I say this because the blue pig is hidden out the way, but is it a real gem? First off I say that I went for dinner but all I'm going to say is it was lovely, the reason being, is upon a quick chat with the manager he said he was stopping meals within the next week or two. So for me to recommend you to go here for the food, would be pointless. Shame though because the food was very nice.
The pub is delightfully traditional, not for the modern businessman, and maybe a miss for families but for an average Joe looking for a chat and a drink it's perfect. The bar staff are friendly, and you can even have a chat with the wonderful manager there. The pricing for drinks is average, which you would expect from a small pub in this day and age.
It's not a perfect place though, outside needs a lot of work. The beer garden is hidden away, and is surrounded by brick walls and an old shed. There is also area for smokers, which badly put together. But it's all forgivable when you step back into the pub.
