The reviews even though old are pretty straight up. I've had Charles and his assistant or helper come out 3 separate times for my AC within a week same issue all 3 times. It took the third time to actually 1/2 decently get the ac actually working and flowing. Rating is low because it's wild to pay 3x for the same issues when you could've done the work the first time correctly and not made it so difficult. read more

I've used this company twice and I can honestly say I will recommend them to all of my family and friends. They are easy to get a hold of, easy to schedule, and on time. He gets the job done promptly and doesn't overcharge. This will be my go to for all heating and air problems. read more

Yup five stars!! Charles and his associate B (my apologies for not properly hearing his name) came out to my place after my AC stopped working on me. They analyzed the problem on my 30+ year AZ unit let me know the good news and the bad. The good news was that it was the motor, the bad news was that they did not have the part on their truck and would have to order it. I was immediately heartbroken as I had already survived almost 48 hours with no AC, but I figured heck what was another 24 hours. Well Charles worked his magic because he as able to get the part for me the same day and came back after doing a service call to personally take care of my old AC unit. After much tugging, blow torching, you name it to get the rusty bolts and probably nails off, he was able to open up the AC unit and replace the motor and put everything back together again. Now Tada!! My air is blowing the lovely cool air that I remember thanks to Charles and his associate B!. You guys as well as the rest of your staff are the best. Thank you so much for taking suck good care of me. You went above and beyond and I am forever grateful! read more

My home warranty policy sent these guys out to my house to look at my HVAC unit outside since the motor kept overheating. Jeff was great. He was straight forward, no bullshit, to the point, and very honest. My repair window was between 6-8am and he showed up promptly at 6am, diagnosed the problem, got approval from the home warranty company, made the repairs and was out by about 6:45ish. If you're looking for someone to sugar coat things, you probably don't want Blue Ox but if you need someone to tell you like it is and cut right to the problem to get it solved in a timely manner, these are your guys. I have already recommended these guys to a close friend of mine within minutes of them leaving and would recommend them again. Life's tough, Phoenix is hot, and Blue Ox fixes your air conditioning. read more

Charles was great. He made several late trips to our home, and took on an obvisiously difficult repair. He always came when he said he would. Was always on time, and was reasonably priced. The service was perfect. Thanks Charles. Tino in Phoenix read more

They just put a complete new A/C system in my Rental condo. They showed up on time. They did what they said they would do. Very professional & very competitive price wise. Great job. I will use them again. read more

I had Blu Ox out twice from my home warranty. I was not upset with the warranty, i was upset with the lack of concern the ac guy gave. Yes my contractor was late and he did not have to stay to wait to look at the unit. He did ultimately wait but made me call the contractor three times while waiting. The contractors' truck had the gas siphoned so he had to get gas and push his truck to the gas station mid route. The AC guy said there is nothing wrong with our unit and I am used to Gas Ac systems which are better. After he left I asked the contractor what to do, he said it's a home warranty they never want to do anything. A few days later our heat does not want to heat so I called my warranty again. They sent the same guy back out. I think he was frustrated because he was called back out and had to drive from Glendale to the East valley. He showed up again, i had a list of questions from an AC friend, so he knew he had to be on his toes. He answered all the questions. He was kind of rude telling me to be quiet while he is doing a trouble shoot. I understand I had questions, he knew that I have people that were trying to help me. It was implied that i know people, why wouldn't he go above and beyond trying to figure out the issue. He left shortly after maybe spending 10 minutes total on the diagnosis. Today the system was not working again. I call my warranty to complain saying I refuse to let Blue Ox back in my home. They said they can send a senior tech out. I told the gal that he was a 20yr plus veteran with AC you can't get much more senior. She gave me a closer company to my home. Eric came out with a different company, looked over the inside air handler, the outside system, gauges, wires, you name it. He did find the Defrost board was bad. The Blue Ox guy did not even take the time to look at the attic. Eric with the new company said home warranties are good when you get good people. You may just need to call in and ask for someone different to do the job. Eric said the new board could be a few hundred dollars maybe even $600. I paid around $400 for the warranty. read more

Just had Charles out here to diagnose and complete a repair to our HVAC unit. The first visit he seemed distracted and unfriendly, but okay. He went straight to work. The second visit he was completely unprofessional after asking him to move his truck so the garbage collectors could collect the garbage for the entire HOA. I asked him to respect our property and the rules of the HOA after he huffed and puffed about it. He decided not to repair our unit and left. I had concerns after reading previous reviews, but they seemed to be older and I gave Blue Ox a chance. Not worth the time or trouble. read more

This is a story about a home warranty nightmare. This company was set to my home; a home which has been without AC, in Phoenix, in 108 degree weather for about two days. Just for starters, got the typical window of 12-4. At 4:10 I got the call that he was on his way and between 20-30 out. 1 hour, 5 minutes later he shows up. He does he typical stuff with my roof AC unit. 45 minutes later he knocks on the door asking for a check for the service call. A long blank stare ensued. Even longer. It continues. Finally I ask if he is going to tell me what's going on with my unit. More of a blank stare followed by, "it's shorted out, you need to get it replaced." Replace what? How long? Any short term solutions? Nothing from him. After a vary odd conversation he tells me the compressor is out and that I will need to get with the warranty people to decide how they want to fix it. After explaining to him that I thought that was his job, he basically gives me the, 'neh' and leaves. I'm now 24 hours removed from the service call and still without AC because the tech never delivered any report to the warranty company. They left numerous messages, as have I, as did my wife. Not a single reply. So, it will be another couple of nights in a hotel with my wife and one year old child because this lazy-ass tech couldn't call in his two line repair report as they are suppose to do directly after completing the call. read more

If you are in need of an A/C repair company, save yourself a lot of trouble and look elsewhere! These people are awful! My unit stopped working in May and they came out and changed the fan motor. Problem is they put in a defective motor and now when it is not working at all, they take 3 days to come back and fix their mess!!!!! No A/C in 113 degree weather? The customer service rep suggested I go buy mare fans!!!! Their customer service rep is worth ZERO !!!! read more

Blue ox came out this past spring to clean our basement air ducts as we were having a problem with water leaking in and were concerned with mold. Had them come out to do the cleaning which they state removes mold from the ducts and kills anything in there. After they finished we inspected the ducts and they had hardly been touched. Had them come out again and they did a half ass job on them again. There was no follow up to see if we were satisfied and now we just had our ducts tested for mold and it came back positive. This company couldn't even do what they promised with two tries at it. DO NOT EVER TRUST. read more

WOW ! From start to finish this was my best expierience with any contractor I have ever had. No need for details all I can say is JEFF IS THE MAN !!! Diagnosed the problem fast, fixed it, had a minor hiccup , and he returned in a half an hour and corrected it . Nicole was great at communicating to me and was great. Blu Ox is great and Jeff is a ROCKSTAR !!! I highly recommend this company. Rodney Jankowski read more

Just had Charles out to replace a ECM blower unit on my Heater. He was done in an hour and charged me almost 1/2 what I was quoted by another "Famous" AC/Heating crew and Sons. Great service and quick response. I have used his company in the past to repair an AC unit on a 110 degree day, the tech told me the coils were dirty and needed to be cleaned. He hosed them off and never even charged me for coming out. I will continue to use Blue Ox. read more

My home warranty company selected Blue Ox for my AC repair. The repairman arrived during the time window that I was given. He was professional and quickly diagnosed the problem and made the repair. My thermostat had failed. He then checked out the system to verify the repair and check that there was not another problem as well. I am very satisfied with the service. The only part I found less than satisfactory was that it took a full 24 hours to hear from Blue Ox to set up the appointment after I called the home warranty company. It could be a delay by the home warranty company or with Blue Ox, I do not know which. read more

Just had these guys out not even an hour ago. Very rude, very pushy, tracked mud into my house and left the front door wide open when I went to show them the thermostat. I have 2 cats, leaving the door wide open was not cool. These guys treat you like you're an idiot, I told the them the thermostat was on they didn't believe me, so I showed them. One guy told the other to check the filter, I told him it was clean, it had just been changed, he didn't believe me. I called and complained after I had them leave, the woman on the phone actually told me it was not their responsibility to close the door behind them. If these guys told me they had a checklist they needed to follow, I would have understood, they did not tell me this, they just kept trying to push past me into my house. When I saw they had left the door open it was the last straw. Common courtesy would have been to put something over their boots so as to not track mud in my house and to close the door behind them as they entered. This was actually the second time I have has this company to my house, the first time they didn't fix the problem. The first time they were here, they didn't need to check the filter. The first time they were here, the guy just kept opening the door and walking into my house without knocking, I have never had this happen with a repair person before. read more

Wow! Can't believe some of these negative reviews. I've been doing business with Charles / Blue Ox for about five years on a few different properties. First meeting was on a home warranty call on a rental property. I was so impressed with the service I have used them ever since. Over the years they have replaced or repaired four or five systems for us. Always very honest and reasonably priced. Calling them today to check out the system my daughter's home she just purchased. Thanks Charles. Wayne in Chandler read more

We were told by another company (hint: they have sons in the name and don't have good customer reviews) that we needed both units replaced as well as our heater to the tune of over $19,000! Yes, that's 3 zeros. A friend recommended that I give Charles a call as she and her neighbors had great service with Blue Ox. Charles came out the same day, cleared out a very clogged piece of tubing which had been causing our short cycling, and fixed the problem. Our only cost was the service fee to come out to the house. Really appreciate the honesty and integrity and will continue to use this company in the future! read more

Friends recommended this company when my AC went out on Sunday. Charles answered the phone and was on his way within thirty minutes. The compressor was dead and Charles said he could replace it on Monday afternoon around 2PM. He arrived on time Monday and within an hour the AC unit was working ! Thank you, Charles, for being an honest, professional. read more

Yikes! These people are not to be trusted! They tell you how much to pay, then you find out later he secretly added a tip in for himself! Their office called it a "misinterpitation". I call it dishonesty and stealing! And this was after he said he couldn't get to it to fix, funny the next guy fixed without a problem. Do you want untrust-worthy people in your house? I will never use them again, even if my home warranty company tries to send them out again! :( read more

My mother who is 70 years old with emphysema has been with out a/c since Thursday 6/9/11. She contacted her home waranty company Old Republic Home Warranty and they sent out Blue Ox Hvac Company. They came out on Friday 6/10/11. It was determined her compressor was burned out. My mother talked to Blue Ox and Old Republic Home Warranty twice and told them about her medical condition. They assured her that they would do everything they could. I called Blue Ox Hvac today 6/15/11 and they (Evonne) told me they were waiting on Old Republic to authorize the work order. I then called Old Republic and Latoya told me that the work order was authorized on Monday 6/13/11 and Blue Ox had two choices: pick up the compressor in Glendale ( which is 15 mins away) or have it shipped. They decided they would have it shipped ( which adds 1-2 days of extra lead time) even after my mom had called them twice about her medical condition (she can't go anywhere). Unbelievable. It has been 100-105 degrees everyday since Friday and 109 today. My moms house is 91 degrees inside @11am everyday. Not to mention her pets. This is the classic run around where each company is blaming each other. They wouldn't give me a direct line to there owner Mr. Gorby. I called Blue Ox back again to speak with a supervisor. Evonne told me there is no one there they are all out in the field. No cell phone?? She then told me a supervisor would call me in 30 minutes. That was well over an hour ago. Absolutly heartless. We still don't know where the compressor is or when it will be installed. The worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. DO NOT under any circumstances use this company unless you want to go thru what we are going thru. read more

MY home warranty company sent Blue Ox to my house twice. The first time the "solution" was to replace the freon. Within 2 weeks we were sweating again. Then, Jeff M. came out and said that the "coil was leaking" and needed to be replaced. He added freon to get us by while the home warranty approved the part (his estimate approx a week) and then he said that the appointment to replace the coil would take a few hours. Great.....two weeks later we call the home warranty company to see why they are dragging their feet on approving this part, and apparently Jeff M wrote on his report that freon was added and nothing further was needed to be done. Called Charles at Blue Ox and he confirmed this report. I asked why this employee would lie to me about what was needed and he didn't know, nor could he have cared less. Oh, and guess what, they are no longer contracted with American Home Shield. So it seems they knew all along that they were not going to be contracted and therefore lied about what was needed so they wouldn't have to deal with the warranty company. Now, we are left mid August during a heat wave waiting for another AC company to come out and do an evaluation. Horrible and unethical!!! By the way, they are not registered with the BBB, probably because they would have an F rating! read more
