If you read the reviews, the most recent review was posted 4 years ago. For the most part, the reviews were positive. However, after a recent visit to Blue Iris Florist in Catonsville, I can see why there have been no recent positive reviews. Being prom season and an advocate of shopping locally, I wanted to purchase a corsage for our daughter's upcoming prom. A sign on the door indicated that they do not carry corsages, flower crowns etc. for the prom season. Knowing this, I went inside anyway to ask the florist if they knew of any other florists in the area that carried corsages. Could I have simply Googled "florists who carry corsages?" Of course! But, I wanted to ask a "professional" their recommendation for another florist. It's akin to asking a chef for a good restaurant recommendation. To my surprise, I was met with a sharp, " I don't know what others florists carry!" I unfairly was under the assumption that florists are polite, cordial and respectful. Until now! Taken aback by her response, I asked her if corsages were still a "thing" as I went to high school eons ago! I was met again with a, "sir I don't know what other florists carry?" Seeing this was going no where, I thanked her and left the shop. Who knew that a florist could be that unpleasant? I understand the competitive basics of pure capitalism and not wanting to help the competition but this was different. I was a potential customer. They couldn't provide the service that I needed, which is fine. I asked where I could go or who could they recommend and was met with disdain and disrespect. I was simply a dad trying to get his daughter a corsage for prom. You can surround yourself with beautiful flowers and objecs and that's just window dressing on the outside. But no amount of flowers can hide your pure ugliness on how you chose to interact with me. You've made my decision to take my future business elsewhere very easy. So, thank you! That being said, I'm willing to give you some leeway in that perhaps I caught you at a bad time? Maybe my situation, is a one off? But, If you did this to every customer, how do you expect to stay open? And frankly, not being aware of what your "competition" is doing Is just bad business. PS- If anyone needs a corsage or prom flowers, Radebaugh's in Towson was pleasant, helpful and professional. I'm picking up my daughter's corsage on Saturday! The response to the comment below from a dad looking for a corsage is completely inaccurate. The man that came into your store was my husband looking for a corsage for our daughter's prom. He was simply looking for the recommendation for another florist after seeing the sign on your door. There is no way he interacted with you in the way you described. However, he described your deplorable behavior to me after leaving the store in detail and it's exactly as described in his comment. It's very disappointing that a business owner has spent this amount of time writing a response meant to embarrass a person in their local community. As you so eloquently suggested, my husband checked Google and found another florist, where we will be happily giving our business going forward. Called yesterday after deciding to send my mom Flowers for her 75th birthday, today. (There's nothing like the surprise of a flower delivery in my opinion.)Allison was great talking me through my choices. I first confirmed that they are NOT affiliated with 1800 Flowers as I have been disappointed by them before and I try whenever possible use local businesses. I cannot begin to say how thrilled I've been with this florist. All responses and communications with owner, Allison Glascock, have been speedy, detailed and so very comforting. Blue Iris did a beautiful job on the spray for my uncle's funeral, a rose topiary for my aunt after her loss and later another arrangement to try & brighten a difficult day on the month anniversary. All were absolutely beautiful, bigger and better than expected. Once, when certain flowers weren't available, Allison contacted me right away to discuss options and assure me that the arrangement would be delivered to our loved ones on time. Yes, we hung up the phone when the conversations WERE OVER but never in the middle of the conversations. Regardless, customers can judge for themselves whether the flowers which she sent to my mother-in-law that I've included photos of in my review are worth $100 or not. I ordered a Valentine Day floral arrangement to include a box of chocolate candy. When the order arrived the candy was badly melted. I immediately called and first spoke to Gabby who offered to resend another box later in the day. I was OK with that, but within 1 min Alison called me a wanted stronly to only refund the price of the candy The candy was a huge part of the overall gift. I told her that this was not acceptable so she reluctanly said she was send another box. I asked for an upgrade box of candy to be sent since the total expeirence was ruined. The upgrade would have been only $7.00 more than I had paid. She stronly refused. For $7.00 I would have wanted to retain a customer and sent the upgraded box of candy. After thinking about it I called her back and told her to refund the candy and how dissapointed I was with their level of Customer Servvice. This was my first time and my last time using this company's service, What a shame for only $7.00. Do businesses these days understand the value of taking care of the cusotmer especially when it is their fault. Missed recommendations as I belong to several large organizations that orders flowers often for many occasions. read more
