Tacos
Natasha R.

Absolutely loved this place!!! Came here multiple times during our stay at the Marriot, and it was always up to standards. Our party loved the Korean cauliflower, which was a perfect blend of sweet, crunchy, and salty! I got the fish tacos, which came with a choice of mahi mahi or shrimp- I got both but definitely preferred the shrimp! They also came with a side of sweet potato fries, which I thought were really well done. I hate when my sweet potato fries are soggy, so I felt the these was really crispy and nice. We actually ended up coming back here for dinner, and I got the strawberry and spinach salad. The salad was excellent, and I loved the inclusion of crunchy bits and the cheese! The dressing was the right amount as well, and though I'm not usually a salad person, I really enjoyed this one. Highly recommend trying this place!

We ate here while we were staying at the Marriott Resort. The ambience is superb with great views. However, the service was pretty slow and the taste wasn't great. The server wasn't able to help us with questions related to the wine menu. Ambience - 5/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 4/5

Walk into the Marriott Resort and spa to find this restaurant located in the fr left corner. Decent size, big bar and a pretty solid selection on the menu. It's convenient if you're staying at the hotel and probably the only reason you would come here considering the fantastic restaurants on the island. Over all the staff was friendly and the food was Ok/good. The shrimp and grits have brown Turkey gravy (not good) everything else was good, shrimp "cargo" was tasty, no snails instead little shrimp. Dumplings are ok, as was the rest of the things we tried here and there throughout the week when the kids needed a snack or something easy.

Located at the Hilton Head Marriott, this restaurant offers a variety of American dishes - burgers, sandwiches, some pastas, etc. Service was really good, and so was the food. So much so, that we actually visited twice during our time in HHI. For being a hotel restaurant, the food wasn't too expensive. We had burgers and fish sandwiches, and both, surprisingly, came out really good. During the pandemic, they took proactive steps to follow social distancing and cleaning protocols. With that being said, I don't know if I would visit again unless I was staying again at the Marriott. HHI and SC have a lot of flavor and great local dishes, and this restaurant doesn't offer those.

Came here on a last minute choice. Boy was I surprised. Although it was late food was still good and waitress still on top of it! I strongly recommend and proud to be the first reviewer.

Chow Daddy's - the name would suggest an old school barbeque joint or maybe a diner; but it is…read moreneither. Hilton Head Island has seen some changes in food offerings in the last decade, but fresh and new American fusion isn't common. Enter Chow Daddy's. With two locations (the other in Bluffton) we hit this one on Hilton Head. It's a risky place to put a restaurant, buried in the back plaza of a nondescript but high-end shopping center deeeep in the wooded neighborhoods of the island's Southern tip. If you're staying elsewhere on the island, you'll find you have to pay a small fee to access Sea Pines but many people do to get to the Salty Dog Cafe as well. While it may not get a lot of visibility, it is definitely worth seeking out for the very good Latin American cuisine being offered. Out party of five arrived on an August Friday evening after making reservations and were impressed with the cleanliness and upscale minimalist vibe. Dark booths and Edison-style lighting are offset by the daylight let in by picture windows. There is outside seating in the patio (very pleasant in the shade) and a small bar open off the host area. Inside seating is large enough for bigger parties of 6-8. Definitely not a post-beach day place, but perfect for date night, or more dressy family dinner out. Service was quick and talkative; we enjoy chatting beyond food with out severs which makes the experience even better. Apps and mains were delivered quickly with good presentation. We started with the fine fresh corn dip - extra tortillas were helpful to get the last bits. Mains included a fresh and well pattied cheesburger, mix-n-match tacos and two specialty bowls - cajun shrimp with spicy fine fat prawns and an Ahi-tuna poke style bowl. The rice in both was excellent and the portions were perfect. I'll try to un-hide this hidden star with this review and encourage you to seek it out if you live on "HHi" or make your next visit. Rare 5 star from us.

I came here with a bunch of friends from my undergraduate research lab while we were in Hilton Head presenting at a conference. We had rented a condo to all stay together and this place was in walking distance, so we headed over. I don't remember what all everyone else got to eat, or much about the service, but I do remember it was a total vibe. Beachy decorations that were fun but still classy and not too kitschy, warm lighting, good music. I ordered an item probably not even on their menu anymore: pulled barbeque chicken on a hunk of spicy cornbread with a side salad. I checked online and it's nowhere to be found, but it slapped at the time, and from pictures it seems like you can still maybe order their spicy cornbread at least, which was the best part! It had a great cakey texture and some legit heat. The chicken was succulent and tender and the smokiness paired well with the salad. It seems Chow Daddy's enjoyed a decade of success after my visit so long ago. I hope the temporary closure listed on the Yelp page doesn't turn into a permanent one. It was a pleasant surprise to be reminded of this visit and my time with friends.

We were lucky to get seated outside because the live music and views were immaculate. The oysters were super fresh.. so fresh in fact we found a little crab in one of them. We got it replaced promptly by our friendly waiter for a new one! I got the scallop risotto. It was good but not my favorite. The sauce was creamy but somewhat bland, which allowed for the perfectly cooked scallops to shine. My mom got the seafood pasta which was fantastic and flavorful. The high-tops outside are great because they're completely covered, while the tables with umbrellas still get sun depending on where the sun is. They have several powerful fans outdoors plus the seating is comfortable with a great view of the trees, boat, and water. The crab punch cocktail was good, but the crab coconut rum tasted a little odd to me (their exclusive brand). I preferred the salty Chihuahua cocktail. All drinks are thankfully strong (everywhere else on the island they were weak). The Jalapeño hush puppies seem like they are made in-house, and they're very flavorful & crunchy. The hush puppies came with honey butter which was also amazing. The lunch grilled grouper fish taco was delicious & fresh. The salsa on it was very flavorful! The house-made potato chips are also great. Service was great (not rushed). They do need drink coasters (water was all over the table). We came back for dinner. They had live music. Abby& Taylor were the two different servers we had and they were both amazing. They did not rush us. The fried green tomatoes were very good with lots of pimento cheese and crunchy unlike the ones we had at Old Oyster Factory. The pineapple Mojito was good. Overall great experience!

I have been to far nicer "upscale" restaurants on the Michelin guide that didn't bother with this nonsense. It is on an island, we're not at a two star in NYC. Prices didn't match up to food quality. A Truly Unforgettable Evening…read more Alexander's Restaurant made an already special night into a memory our family will cherish forever. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. The menu offers an outstanding variety of selections, making it easy for everyone to find something they'll enjoy. Every dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and expertly presented. The quality of the food matched the restaurant's outstanding reputation. What truly set Alexander's apart, however, was the incredible hospitality. Our adult son, who has special needs, had chosen Alexander's as the place to ask his girlfriend to marry him. The staff knew about the proposal in advance and couldn't have been more accommodating. They were ready when the moment arrived, helped record the entire proposal on video, and made sure everything went perfectly. To make the evening even more extraordinary, the kindness didn't stop with the staff. A wonderful couple dining nearby was so touched by the proposal that they quietly paid for our son and his fiancée's dinner. We were completely overwhelmed by such an unexpected act of generosity and will never forget it. Their kindness made an already unforgettable evening even more meaningful. The restaurant itself is surrounded by the beautiful Lowcountry scenery that makes Hilton Head so special. The peaceful setting, comfortable atmosphere, exceptional service, and outstanding cuisine all came together to create one of the most memorable dining experiences we've ever had. Thank you to everyone at Alexander's Restaurant--and to the incredibly generous couple who helped make this once-in-a-lifetime celebration even more special. This wasn't just dinner; it was a night our family will treasure forever. Five stars simply aren't enough.

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.

Good Seafood, Fun Rooftop Atmosphere…read more We had a very enjoyable evening at Poseidon Coastal Cuisine in Hilton Head. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, and they were excellent--fresh, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the meal. For my entrée, I ordered the Broiled Seafood Combination. Everything was cooked well, fresh, and nicely presented. While I enjoyed it, I thought it could have used just a bit more seasoning or flavor to really make it stand out. We had reservations for the rooftop, which has a fun atmosphere with dueling pianos providing live entertainment. The music made for a relaxing and enjoyable evening. The only downside was getting upstairs. It was a little confusing because security was collecting admission for another event, and we had to explain we had dinner reservations. Then, despite being clearly well over the minimum age, everyone still had to show ID to prove they were 21 or older. It wasn't a major issue, just an unexpected and slightly awkward process. Overall, the service was good, the food was enjoyable, and the rooftop entertainment added to the experience. While nothing was truly over-the-top spectacular, it was a pleasant evening, and I'd certainly recommend Poseidon for a nice dinner and rooftop ambiance while visiting Hilton Head.
