Best sushi spot in Lafayette! Everything is super fresh and we love all the different rolls. Our favorite is the Diablo roll, although everything we've tried has been good. Staff is friendly and service is quick! I believe they are walk in only, but we've never had to wait too long for a table.

Small neighborhood place in a stripmall. Sushi was tasty and fresh. Portion size okay. Pricing is moderately high. Will try come back again to try a few more rolls. Friendly staff.

Chirashi

We tried the chirashi and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. It was the perfect lunch, thank you!

Not a bad option for sushi in Lafayette. This restaurant is run by the same people behind Sasa in Walnut Creek. This is one of your best options around Lafayette and we came on Friday at 5:30 and it was already busy. Service was friendly and the fish was decently fresh: can't expect stuff flown from Toyosu every day. Would come back again as a more casual option to Hanazen.

Great place for sushi and Japanese appetizers. Full bar. Amazing outdoor seating perfect for an sunny afternoon. The wine selection is excellent as well. Service was friend and not rushed. The ducks swimming in the pond adds to the experience.

Ohana Roll was good - that sauce was amazing. Crab and tempura shrimp inside and hamachi and shiso leaf on top.

I was a little skeptical getting sushi here after seeing the ratings but I had a hankering for some after getting some Susie's Cakes so I decided to give it a go since it was close by. I came right when it opened and decided to sit outside. I opened the menu and immediately saw high prices for sushi- one roll was already $18.95. Yikes. The waitress offered some specials - one was the Ohana roll: shrimp tempura and crab inside and topped with hamachi and shiso leaf. Sounded yummy. It arrived and it looked pretty. Gotta admit - it was delicious. The components really went nicely together and that SAUCE on the side. It was a savory sweet unagi sauce that was addicting. It really added some nice umami flavors to the roll. I was tempted to get some salmon sashimi but 3 pieces was already $12.95. I opted for the bill, which was $21 with tax. The food is pretty good but not sure if it's worth the $$$. I have a really yummy place in WC I go to with rolls for $12.95. Maybe I'll be back if I get the same craving in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Philly and Lafayette rolls

Had lunch here and things were semi-crowded (restaurant was about 60% full). Tables were clean and the ambiance was calm/quiet. Would be a great place for a casual sushi date. Service was excellent and attentive. My waitress was the only server working there, and she did a great job keeping my water glass full and making sure I was satisfied with my meal. The food was alright for the price. I ordered the Philly and Lafayette rolls. They came out promptly and as described in the menu. Even though each roll only came with 6 pieces, they were very thick (about 2x as thick as the ones you see in grocery stores). The bites are well-proportioned and tasty. I did spontaneously order some inari (not pictured unfortunately), and it was just okay. $5 for two pieces felt kind of like highway robbery, but for a place that has to pay Lafayette rent, I'm not going to condemn them for it.

Maguro nigiri, Mita Spicy Roll, and Spider Roll (left to right).

(There button on the right steering wheel must be pressed down until it beeps, then you use your voice command.) The nearest sushi restaurant in my Tesla car screen was Kiku Sushi! This is a little gem of a restaurant with a cute interior dining area with television for people watching the FIFA games, a good bar selection of you imbibe, and a delightful patio where you can sit under a covered awning. The place has a small parking lot along the side of the restaurant located in the back. If you're shopping at Whole Foods or Mount Diablo Foods, this restaurant is located down the street from them on a side street on Lafayette Circle. I spoke to the owner, they only use the best quality sushi: Atlantic King salmon, bluefin tuna, the shrimp is cooked here, white tuna is from Korea, the onso hamachi is from Hokkaido. The onagi is high end, and ordered from Thailand. There are two other Kiku Sushi & Vegetarian locations, one is located in north Berkeley, 1416 Gilman Street, Berkeley, CA, and one is located at 538 Valencia Street, San Francisco. The food is absolutely delicious, nicely presented, and the sashimi is cut into very thick slices. I ordered my favorite go-to dish, chirashi sushi, and a specially ordered eel handroll with rice and veggies. The matcha tempura ice cream was delicious, too. You must absolutely come and try out this place, they play relaxing, nice jazz music in the background, it was good for a very nice before-the-250th-anniversary of our country, the 4th of July! Check out this place, you surely won't be disappointed!

We chose Hakashi for a friend's birthday lunch, three of us, on a Tuesday afternoon. I had been…read morelooking forward to it, which is part of why I'm disappointed enough to write this. It was pretty empty for weekday lunch. The service was slow in a way that added up. I arrived a few minutes after my friends and no one came by to ask if I wanted anything. My water glass sat empty for most of the meal, and at one point I spent about eight minutes trying to get someone's attention. We asked for lemon and had to ask a second time. We ordered a salmon crudo as an appetizer and our entrees arrived before it did. The miso soup that came with my combo never came out, and when I mentioned it, our server wasn't aware it was part of the combo. When my friend ordered a tempura udon and asked for two bowls so we could share, we waited on those as well. Our server was polite the whole time and the restaurant was clearly short staffed. Nobody was rude to us. On its own, this would be a two star night that I would have forgotten about. What I have not been able to forget is what came after. Two of us felt unwell for the rest of the day and one of us threw up that evening. I emailed the restaurant a calm, detailed account of the visit. When people started feeling sick, I wrote again to tell them so, because it seemed like something a restaurant would want to know. A week later I have had no response to either message. For a restaurant serving raw fish, that silence is hard to accept. Handling raw seafood comes with a higher standard of care, and part of that standard is what you do when a customer tells you people got sick after eating your food. You check. You ask what we ordered. You write back. Even a two line reply would have told me somebody looked into it. I'm not writing this because of a slow lunch. I'm writing it because I gave them every chance to respond privately and they chose not to, and I think anyone deciding where to eat raw fish deserves to know that.

They had a grocery store across that has a parking lot but not sure if it was just for the grocery shoppers only. The crew was taking a break when I walked in but there wasn't any customers. I asked to use the restroom from my far drive and that would give them time to get ready for a customer to order. My favorite choice of sushi is the lion king roll so I got that and enjoyed a few bites while the person I was visiting ate the rest. We even enjoyed the deep fried California roll. My bento box was ok and I ate the rest the next day which tasted better the next day oddly but good. They are small very intimate so a date night spot or small group of 4 will enjoy. They say evening time is when they get busy FYI Will possibly come back but I only say that because I don't live close by. I'll get sake then when I do!! I highly suggest them

It also came with rice and miso soup. The miso soup was way too salty and didn't have much miso flavor. The piece of salmon looks long in the photo, but it was actually extremely thin and small for the price. It also had barely any teriyaki sauce on it. The spicy tuna roll was probably the biggest disappointment. There was hardly any actual tuna in it :( It was mostly just cucumber, which made the roll feel pretty skimpy. The salad and gyoza were probably the best parts of the meal, although I couldn't really tell if the gyoza were freshly made or from a frozen bag. My friend also got the beef teriyaki and said the beef was very tough, while the chicken katsu was just okay. Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this place, but unfortunately, I don't think I'd come back. I'll probably just stick with my usual sushi spot in Berkeley. Food: 6/10 Service: 8.5/10
