I had never tuft before so this was something new and exciting to try out! Every step of the way, Sav (the owner) was absolutely wonderful, so extremely helpful and accommodating. From the detailed emails regarding the correct location of the building (inside Hope Artiste Village) to recommendations of the best images to tuft to helping you sharpen your tufting lines, we couldn't have asked for a better instructor. She gave great instructions and came around to help out where she knew we were struggling a bit but always encouraged and made us feel like we were all rockstars. I can't say enough about how great of a class we had. She had her niece Leah (sp?) help out as well and she was such a sweet kid. The space is large, airy and welcoming. Feel free to bring something to eat/drink but light snacks and water are provided. We left with the cutest rugs that we made ourselves. Great to walk away with a masterpiece we personally put our hearts into. I'd love to come back in the future.

There are tons of interactive exhibits including water play, climbing structures, pretend play areas, and building activities--that kept my toddler engaged the entire time. One of the highlights for us was the special area just for ages 0-4. It's such a thoughtful addition because it gives younger children their own safe space to crawl, climb, and play without being overwhelmed by the bigger kids. My toddler loved it, and as a parent, I appreciated that it was clean, well-designed, and developmentally appropriate. The superspace jumbo magnets were another hit amongst kids and adults alike. The parents got so invested into it and were building tunnels for the kiddos. Great fun for us too! Overall the space is very thoughtfully designed, and you can tell the staff really care about creating an engaging environment. They have a new craft activity everyday as well. Everything felt safe, clean, and inviting. It's easy to spend a few hours here without the kids getting bored. Another bonus is that the museum is in a great spot--there are a few restaurants within a block or two, which made it perfect to grab lunch right after all the fun.

Their space is so well put-together and I felt extremely welcome upon entering. After looking around at all the outstanding artwork and items on display for sale and chatting about what we could do, Alyssa and I began our art project. She has so many different options to choose from, I took advantage of the hypertufa pot project. She did a great job explaining the process to me and showing me how to properly make the pots by making one alongside me. This was no ordinary class, I was delving into a new form of art that I had never tried before and it all seemed so easy with Alyssa's help and willingness to teach. I can't wait to go back to Visual Shift with my friends and see what other projects are in store for us. Alyssa told me about paint nights that she would be teaching in the upcoming future and that is definitely something I would try out and encourage others to attend. I look forward to seeing this business flourish and would definitely recommend to any person who is interested in an exciting art experience! Truly a hidden gem in RI.
