Enjoyed an awesome sunset dinner cruise with Blue Dolphin, complete with several close-up whale sightings and a couple dolphins spotted as well. Captain Kai was competent, informative, and very funny, as was crewmember Vayden, and Collin's mai tais are not to be missed. The food onboard was delicious and included traditional Hawaiian pulled pork and teriyaki chicken. Scrumptious cookies and bubbly rounded out the evening. Some things to be aware of: This cruise is on a catamaran; some of our party were expecting a small cruise ship that would have been a smoother ride. Waves are bumpy, and the windier parts of the trip resembled a mild roller coaster--if that's not your thing or you know you can experience some motion sickness, please factor that into your decision to book a trip. That being said, one person in our party experienced some light motion sickness and was really well cared for by the crew. We really appreciated their kindness and support. If you have sturdy sea legs and an adventurous spirit, I'd highly recommend this excursion. The views of Kauai from the ocean are worth it alone, but the information from the captain and crew about the island and its culture are also super valuable. The whole experience also felt very safe; the cruise will not go to areas with high wind/surf, and on our trip the captain explained why he was turning out of the wind/waves when he made that decision.

This was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to Kauai! We had a group of five, and I truly can't say enough good things about Capt. Kealoha, Evan, Kawika, and Aina. From the second we got on the boat, they made everyone feel welcome and were so friendly, funny, and accommodating. They took the time to engage with everyone on board, which made the whole experience feel really personal. Capt. Kealoha did an incredible job sharing the history of the Nā Pali Coast, pointing out famous movie filming locations, and explaining the history of different landmarks along the way. It made the trip so much more than just a beautiful boat ride, it felt like we were getting a personal tour of one of the most stunning places in Hawaii. When it was time to snorkel, the crew made sure everyone felt comfortable and informed before getting in the water. They even jumped in with us, which made the experience even more fun and reassuring. The two kids in our group had an absolute blast and haven't stopped talking about it! The views were unreal, the crew made the entire day so much fun, and we left talking about how glad we were that we booked with Blue Dolphin Charters. If you're visiting Kauai and thinking about doing a Nā Pali Coast tour, this is the one. I would recommend them over and over again!

Our captain was amazing very helpful and informative. The crew was helpful and funny. The vibes were great. It was a sunset cruise even the captain was surprised to see dolphins. My kids had fun and it was the best experience they had in Kauai. We will definitely book a snorkel adventure for next time with the same company.

My husband and I did not have a great time, but not because the fault of the crew, but because we had really bad motion sickness! Along the way the ride was pretty smooth. Our captain, Kai, was giving all sorts of interesting facts about the island and coastline. My husband and I were good until we reached the Napali coast and the waves got too choppy for us. I guess we are especially prone to motion sickness even after taking Dramamine. The coast itself was beautiful. It was a nice clear day and we were able to see the ridges on the Napali coast. We were good long enough to take some pictures and then we got really sick. I think we made the mistake of sitting on the top of the boat rather than the bottom. We had booked the dinner cruise, but unfortunately were not able to keep anything down. We also missed the champagne toast. One crew member noticed how much we're struggling and made sure to keep a close eye on us. He offered us water and ice many times to help keep us hydrated. He even packed us a plate so we can take our dinner home. I think his name was Vayder. He was outstanding. We didn't have the best time, but a glass half full type of person. We saw the beautiful coastline and the crew was great (Kai, Vayder, and Collin). The Napali coast is not something you will see very often, so book the tour! Perhaps be a little more prepared for any motion sickness if are sensitive to it.

We had an absolutely incredible experience with Blue Dolphin Charters! From the moment we stepped on board, the crew operated like a well-oiled machine. They were organized, professional, and genuinely seemed to love what they do. We traveled the morning of July 9th (for credit to our crew). We did the breakfast/lunch snorkel and Nāpali coast catamaran. What stood out most was how well they cared for everyone on the boat. They were constantly checking in to make sure guests were comfortable, helping people safely up and down the stairs, serving food and drinks, and making the entire experience feel like an all-inclusive resort on the water. Every crew member was kind, upbeat, and made you feel like they were truly happy you were there. Our captain was fantastic--he was fun, knowledgeable, and full of interesting information about the Nā Pali Coast. We never felt rushed, and they even stopped so everyone could take photos of the breathtaking scenery. We traveled with our 15-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter, and both had an amazing time. There were also several younger children on board, and the crew was wonderful with them as well. The boat was clean, spacious, and easy to move around, which made the trip comfortable for everyone. The food was delicious, and the entire day exceeded our expectations. As if the stunning coastline wasn't enough, we were lucky enough to see two different pods of dolphins swimming alongside the boat--an unforgettable experience! The biggest compliment I can give? The next morning my 10-year-old daughter asked if we could book another trip because she loved it that much. If you're considering a Nā Pali Coast tour, don't hesitate--book with Blue Dolphin Charters. It was worth every penny, and the views are truly once-in-a-lifetime.

Fantastic whale watching with an attentive, relaxed crew We did the 2-hour whale watching cruise with Blue Dolphin Charters, and it was excellent. We saw multiple breaches, tail slaps, fluke dives, and surface activity--the whales were active the entire time. The crew positioned the boat so well that we were able to stay in one great viewing spot and still see everything without moving around. The crew was incredibly attentive without being overbearing. Drinks and snacks were always taken care of--Mai Tais, coconut cookies, and snacks kept coming--and it genuinely felt effortless to just relax and enjoy the experience. The team was knowledgeable, calm, and respectful of the whales, offering helpful context without over-talking. The boat was comfortable, well run, and the two-hour length felt just right. If whale watching is on your list in Kauaʻi, Blue Dolphin is an easy recommendation

We did the sunset cruise and we loved it! We got to see the mountains and enjoyed a good meal as well. Drinks were complimentary. My wife and I seeked out adventure whenever we could find the chance- be careful, you will get soaked!!! We did not see any dolphins but did see plenty of good views!! Beautiful sunset with your loved one makes this very romantical.

BEST TOUR OUT THERE! Captain Chad was the best captain and was so fun and entertaining. He was extremely knowledgeable and showed us incredible views and shared several cool stories along the way. Great music, food, and drinks! The crew was just as incredible! Jaycee and Nai'a were so helpful and kind. They insured that everyone had a great time. Hands down, the best experience of our lives! Blue Dolphin's 4 hours were worth every penny spent and every second lived. The crew is friendly, caring and wonderful. What an unforgettable experience!! Check-In was painless and quick. This charter was extremely organized and Capitan Chad and his crew know how to party Kauai style !!! Where else can you get a one-of-a-kind tour from a Kauai local with waterfalls, sea turtles, dolphins, snorkeling, karaoke, lunch and an open bar. Nicole and Capitan Amber were friendly as well as accommodating and provided first class customer service as well as keeping all the passengers safe and ensured we all had a great time. My husband got a little sea sick and Nicole and Amber were constantly checking on him making sure he was okay. I've done these snorkeling tours before and this was by far the best experience. We were served deli style lunch which included build your own sandwiches. The food was fresh and we could have as much as we wanted!! My wife and I took the Blue Dolphin Napali Coast Sunset cruise. It was honestly one of the most photographic and awesome experiences I've been on, given that this was my first time in Hawaii and on a catamaran cruise. The crew of Captain Joe, Stacey and Rob were plain amazing, funny and very helpful. They took great care of all the passengers during this 5 hour cruise. I've never gotten seasick before but on that day, I did and the crew were extremely helpful and took great care to check on me from time to time. Plus, since my wife and I are vegetarians, they made sure to have special meals packed for both of us with our names marked. They were also very friendly and hung out with all the passengers, offering to take photographs and making sure that everyone enjoyed the cruise. I will definitely go with them again, when I'm in Kauai. I absolutely and highly recommend them! read more

Just got back. Wasn't cheap.. BUT WAS WORTH IT. We started at 8am and headed up the Napoli coast. Before I get started with the trip, the CREW was beyond great. Captain Chris, Michael, Quinn and Crosby were absolutely fabulous. We were well informed, well fed and well hydrated. It seemed that every time you looked up a crew member was asking you if YOU needed anything. The lunch was great, included home made bread, lunch meats,Mac salad , cookies and a cold beverage. All the fixins for a great lunch. The snorkeling was great of the coast and safety WS a number one concern. We saw spinner and bottle nose dolphins, sea turtles and learned about the historic Napoli coastline. Captain Chris knows his stuff!!!! Worst snorkeling spot ever. 1 hr only and No Fish nor coral reef found Preprepared food that food wasn't Great tip it off someone stole our expensive Sun glasses within that 1 hr of snorkeling 2-8 to long to be in boat not in water. Sorry not worth the money. read more

We had a family member visit Kauai 6-months before our family visited and they highly recommended a different company for a Napali Coast snorkel cruise. The other boat was all booked up, and after a lot of research online, we chose to book with Blue Dolphin. I can't imagine a better trip than what we experienced!!! We saw whales, dolphins, snorkeled with sea turtles, and that was all before the scenery became amazing. The captain and crew were outstanding!!! Super helpful, very informative, and they made the trip awesome in every way. Interestingly enough, while we were snorkeling we were near the competitors boat that was originally recommended to us. I don't regret booking with Blue Dolphin & plan to go out with them again on our next trip to Kauai. I know there are a lot of great reviews out there, but do yourself a favor and just go with Blue Dolphin, they are the best!!! read more

We had an amazing night on the boat with Chad as our captain. We cruised the Na Pali coast and touched the fertility water fall. Then we sang karaoke and enjoyed our evening on the boat. First time on a catamaran cruise and it was great! We did the two hour whale watching & sunset cruise last week. The weather was cloudy and had been raining all day so no great sunset but we did get to see some whales. The staff is super friendly and makes the trip fun. Cheers to Evan, the captain, and crew mates Nicole and Rob. We will definitely book with Blue Dolphin again on our next trip. The reservations staff is also very friendly. read more

We did the sunset dinner cruise and it was the highlight of our trip! We lucked out with a perfect weather day and were treated to absolutely breathtaking views of the coast and the sunset. Captain Elia & his crew were fantastic. Very professional and friendly, and super fun. They made the trip an absolute blast. And we learned so much along the way! Had a great time and loved the beautiful views of the Na Pali coast! We were joined by a pack of spinner dolphins and a couple bottle nose dolphins which was amazing. Captain Joe and his crew were awesome, friendly, informative and super helpful. We were on our honeymoon and one of the crew members (I feel bad I forgot his name!) was so great at making it memorable for us by snapping tons of great pictures of us in front of the waterfalls and other beautiful views along the way. The food was good, the alcoholic drinks were strong and it was a great cruise overall! read more

Did the Napoli Sunset Night Cruise w/Dinner and Champagne. Great crew; very nice, helpful, attentive! The captain was Danny, he was super nice, knowledgeable about the history in Kaui, and he was funny and entertaining! We had an AMAZING experience with Blue Dolphin Charters! We went on the Napali Raft Snorkel Tour to the Na Pali Coast in beautiful Kauai. Our captain was JR. Kai was the crew member and tour guide on the boat. JR was an excellent captain! He took us into caves, which were incredible, and we saw several pods of dolphins. We are avid boaters and JR exceeded our expectations for the tour! Kai was so great - cheerful and informative. The adventure was our trip highlight! read more

First of all...anyone reviewing this company complaining about large swells/seasickness, do everyone a favor and get off of Kauai. You should expect booking a "deluxe snorkeling trip," that you may encounter waves; this comes with the territory. That being said, from start to finish, this company was incredible. We knew exactly what was expected, (even if that meant snorkeling was to dangerous day of), we were well taken care of, saw tons of dolphins/turtles/sea life, and had awesome food/drinks. The crew (sorry we don't remember all your names Cory, Luke, capt cole, ect) was energetic, attentive, personable, and had our safety in mind at all times. This was a highlight of our honeymoon and when we come back to kauai, we will use blue dolphin charter for more adventures. Thanks again! read more

Absolutely fantastic! This was our third snorkel tour in Hawaii and even better than the others. Captain Chris and crew (Dane and Yohan) were outstanding in every way. Very professional and lots of fun. Boat and equipment were top notch and we saw tons of dolphins, swam with turtles and even some whale breaches. I can not recommend Blue Dolphin highly enough! Captain Chad, Matt and Chloe lead us on a magical day of snorkeling, dolphin sighting, and whale watching!! Wow what an experience!!! And the perfect way to celebrate my mom's birthday. The captain Joe and his crew Danny and Jen were very informative, helpful and accommodating. The boat was a great size and is clean and maintained. The Na Pali coast is beautiful on its own. But what makes this such an awesome experience is that Joe explains all the details about the movie scenes, the history, points out the dolphins and turtles in the oceans and makes the experience very memorable. He parked the boat under the waterfall so we got to experience the beauty of the waterfall. Our dinner, teriyaki chicken and pulled pork was amazingly good, drinks and alcohol were of abundance. And we got to see the beautiful sunset and the green flash. What a site!!! My only suggestion is to have vomit bags on stand by for those who get sick. Overall, totally worth it and definitely unforgettable. read more

The captain is great and the coolest captain on the ship! we all had fun! This is the best tour that we did overall, snorkeling though is kind of short wish it could've been longer on different spots. All the crews are outstanding as well they help out with everything withiut you even asking for it. They all socialize with people and you will feel like family with everyone on board! I would definitely do it over and over again.. read more

The tour was absolutely amazing and breathtaking. They were very friendly and filled with jokes that kept everyone laughing. I highly recommend going on the 14 person tour and I hope you get them for your journey. Absolutely amazing!!! I was born and raised on Maui and can honestly say I've never experienced anything like this anywhere else in Hawaii. My friends all work on catamarans on Maui and were all stoked on the little adventure raft. Captain Amber and Corey Boy made the trip so fun, I really appreciated their knowledge of Hawaiian history and mythology. It made the experience even more memorable!!! We just returned from a wonderful trip to Kauai and absolutely loved our whale watching tours with blue dolphin. We went in two groups because we had a couple of infants. On my trip we saw many whales, mamas with babies, tail slaps and breaching. We also were lucky enough to see a hammerhead shark right next to the boat. Our second group had an equally fantastic experience. They saw many whales up close and a pod of dolphins followed their boat. We both thoroughly enjoyed the 5 hours we spent with Captain Chad on our dinner cruise. He is really knowledgeable about the Napoli coast and a pretty good Karaoke singer. The 3 person crew was friendly and were instrumental in making the experience even better. A highlight had to have been taking us close enough to a waterfall so that those who chose to could get wet. I got wet. Later we followed closely a pod of dolphins and had great photo opportunities. The sunset was spectacular and Chad played classic Hawaiian music as we sat there soaking up the vibe. Dinner was served buffet style with pig and chicken. Another highlight for me was standing out in one of the two bow extensions and enjoying the roll of the boat as we headed home. My husband and I went on a snorkeling trip with Blue Dolphin Charters while we were on our honeymoon. It was awesome! The four crew members were incredibly professional and we both felt like they were a step above some of the other staff/crew we had met on previous vacations. Each crew member made an effort to talk to us individually and get to know us so that they could give us recommendations of things to do on the island and just talk to us about life. He is a master at navigating the caves and has seen every type of current and weather condition. Captain Keith stopped for every pod of dolphins we encountered and allowed us ample time to admire them playing beside the boat. And OH the treats and snacks. When it was time to snorkel, we enjoyed a large selection of ice cold drinks, local fruit (pineapple, mango, dragon fruit and cantaloupe) and treats baked by Mrs. Milolii - the best pumpkin rolls and mango bread you've ever tasted. And they packaged up what we didn't finish and sent it home with us to enjoy for the next couple of days. We booked a sunset Napali Coast tour during our Kauai trip. Our crew for the evening were Captain Joe, Sully and Rob. Due to an earlier incident the day before where I got sick on a helicopter tour, I took Bonine for this trip, as recommended by the staff in the Blue Dolphin office. I also purchased some of the ginger candies available. We had a gorgeous evening for our cruise. Captain Joe managed to get really close to a waterfall coming off the cliffs so some people could get soaked (why you would want to was beyond me!). My husband and I spent as much time as we could right at the front of the boat, enjoying the ride. The tour was great! We did see a few whales, and Captain Joe slowed down/stopped the boat so we could watch them for a bit. His information about the island was interesting, although we couldn't hear all of it due to us being at the front of the boat. Our loss, not their fault. On the ride back, the ocean was quite a bit more choppy, and it was requested that we stay more in the back of the boat. Rob and Sully were great when people decided to get up, and helped everyone go up or down the stairs as needed. They kept us entertained. They also were willing to take numerous photos of everyone on board at different times during the cruise. We enjoyed the food, too. The worst part for me was when I needed to use the restroom in the bottom of the boat. Let's just say that I'm thankful I took some motion sickness pills and was on the upper decks for most of the cruise. **5 Stars Blue Dolphin Charters Exceeded Every Expectation** Captain Evan, Nicole (first mate), Bryan, and Cole made our Napali Coast trip absolutely incredible! Captain Evan's navigation skills were flawless. You could tell he really knows these waters. I spent time talking with him on the bridge and we exchanged great stories. He's a natural who knows the water incredibly well and is just very cool and capable. Nicole has special skills at proactively managing everything. She's one of those people who just stands out the moment you meet them. She knows exactly what to do before you even realize it needs doing. The entire crew was constantly checking on everyone, making sure we felt safe and taken care of. Bryan and Cole were giving 100% and were totally awesome too. With 50 people on board, I was amazed at how smoothly they all managed everything together. They're incredible communicators and really know how to read situations. Everyone did their job perfectly, and you could see they genuinely care about giving guests the best experience possible. The trip itself was magical. We saw waterfalls, dolphins, and sea turtles. The snorkeling was fantastic. They provided amazing lunch, snacks, drinks, and cookies throughout the day. Kauai itself is a magnificent island, but Captain Chad and his crew (Matt and Peyton) really made this a unique and exquisite experience. Chad is native to the island and his knowledge reflects how much he loves Kauai and he really shares that love with the entire group. He was very interactive and has an amazing eye for wildlife. We were able to see a couple sea turtles, a couple mountain goats off the cliff, and were even able to see a pack of dolphins. He is also awesome at handling his boat, we were able to get close enough to stand under a waterfall and even take a picture near another. Once at the coast we had a nice dinner (caesar salad, pulled chicken, pork, pineapple, rice, bread, cookies) not to mention it was open bar the entire ride. There are also non alcoholic drinks for those who do not want (or cannot have) alcohol. Group size was about 30 people but there was a lot of room on the boat to move around and be comfortable (2 tier deck plus a cabin area). In terms of the restrooms, for a boat they were pretty clean and usable. And safety, they had enough life vests for everyone to grab two if they were ever needed. Captain and crew are always top notch! My husband and I go out with them all the time, and we're learning more and more and more about the island through their narratives. It really opens our eyes to all the hidden history and knowledge these guys have of this amazing island. The scuba instructors are always informative and keyed in on keeping us safe while making sure we enjoy ourselves underwater. The food is consistently fresh and there is enough variety to satisfy my vegetarian tastes between the fresh fruit and cinnamon rolls in the morning to the delectable potato salad and verge sandwiches for lunch (you get to make your own sandwich on the buffet). Even though we're starting to get a little tired of the same sandwich setup, for some reason we're always ravenous after our dives, so it is really great to have this food waiting! And the free alcohol :) These guys are great about making sure you have a cold beer or mai tai in hand! It's a rain or shine cruise, as we learned on our last adventure with blue dolphin. The rain made a lot of the waterfalls run along the na pali coast. One of the crew explained to us that since the water was diverted from the Alaka'i swamp, the waterfalls have stopped flowing. I did the Sunset Dinner Tour and it was the highlight of my trip to Kaua'i. You'll see a lot of people here giving 5 stars (myself included) and they are entirely accurate reviews. The Captain and crew were fun, smart, witty, knowledgeable and more than capable at navigating the tough waters. Captain Chad knows the ocean like the back of his hand, which made me feel very safe. His competence and skill allowed us to see and experience parts of the coast that most other companies avoid. The food was delicious. In contrast to the stellar reviews, I've read some of the negative ones. If you are considering Blue Dolphin Charters, you'll need to know these things before making a reservation in order to avoid any bad experiences: (1) from what I've been told, the water is even rough on the best and sunniest day along the Na Pali coast; (2) the weather on Kaua'i is unpredictable and moves fast; (3) Kaua'i, up in the mountains of Na Pali, is the wettest place on Earth, which means rain is a big probability; (4) this is NOT a fancy dinner cruise. Sea sickness is therefore a big probability, so is getting wet. I got a little sea sick and drenched to the bone, but you know what? I would do it all over again because those views are to die for. Joe, Danny and Lindsey were amazing hosts. We will always stick with this company when going to Kauai. My husband and I took our 5 1/2 year old son on the 2 hour Poipu whale watching sunset tour. All I can say is amazing! They keep their boat clean and clear. The crew were great with everyone, comical, extremely safe and accommodating. The moment you take off, they came around passing Mai Tais out and taking drink orders. The light snacks were quality and super tasty. We were surprised. The crew was amazing with our son and making sure he got a good seat and views. The experience with Blue Dolphin Charters definitely exceeded our expectations. Words cannot express what we saw, many whales and dolphins were out, but to experience it out and about leaves us simply speechless. This was such a fun experience but definitely not for the faint of heart. Our crew of Luke and Kai were spectacular. They were super knowledgeable, made it a point to check on each of the different parties (we had a couple of people who had sea sickness) and they made it a point to try to make them as comfortable as possible. Yes the waves were pretty EXCITING (as in 5-6ft swells) heading out, but Luke navigated it safely and beautifully and honestly all the wind and water splashing around in your face makes it all the more fun! The coast itself is so gorgeous AND the wildlife is plentiful. Literally saw a pod of dolphins maybe less than 30 minutes in, but we also saw tons of turtles, eagle spotted rays, and fishes. The only thing I might improve but I also understand why it was done was the lunch. The package mentioned sandwiches but we received a wrap (probably for convenience) but we have some picky eaters in our group and a wrap meant it was much harder for them to pick out the stuff they didn't want. However the chips, drinks, and cookies made up for it. read more

This whale watching tour exceeded all expectations from start to finish. We were lucky enough to see multiple whales up close, and Captain Cole's knowledge made the experience even more incredible. He shared fascinating facts about whale behavior and clearly knew exactly where to go--his experience really showed and made us feel confident and safe the entire time. We did a Blue Dolphin Charter while visiting Kauai in 2025, and it was easily one of the highlights of our entire trip. Looking back a year later, we still talk about what an amazing day this was and how happy we are that we decided to do it. A huge thank you to Captain Evan and the crew -- Dereyn, Renee, and Chasen. They were fantastic from beginning to end. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and genuinely seemed to enjoy making sure everyone on the boat was having a great time. The whole experience felt very well organized without ever feeling overly structured or touristy. The scenery along the coast was absolutely incredible. It's one of those excursions where the experience ends up being even better than you expected. There are a lot of things you can spend your time and money on while visiting Kauai, and Blue Dolphin was absolutely worth it. We went out with NaPali Coast Raft Adventures, Captain Noheli and Crew Jacob. It was the absolute best ride we've had to date! No-No and Jacob were knowledgeable, professional and entertaining. We learned much about the history of Kauai, the costal original peoples as well as wave and tide information. We got to see a rip tide and Noheli showed us what a rip tide is and looks like as well how to survive one. It was fascinating. The spinner dolphins surrounded us at one point, and Noheli told us about them being asleep in the morning. He shared that they always buddy up for sleep so their brains can shut down. Actually, it's only half their brains and it's the inside half of the buddy system. Really cool! We were completely impressed with Captain Noheli's ability to maneuver through the many obstacles of weather and waves. What an experience!! I think it would be hard to argue that any boat ride up the Napali coast is going to be more spectacular than the next. Same island, same breath taking views, same ocean... What was exceptional about this blue dolphin tour was the quality of the people captaining/hosting this charter. Captain Danny and his crew where the exception! First off, holy they are fun!! And not like that annoying; "make everyone scream" but rather genuinely charming and humorous. They were constantly offering to take photos, handing out snacks/drinks and sharing info about the area. Captain Danny even shared with me a great spot to check out the massive swell making its way in this weekend. But you'll have to go on the tour for insider scoop like that! Thank you Blue Dolphin, Captain Danny, Mike and Q for a great tour!! PS, We saw so many whales!! I couldn't get a good shot but there were tons. What an amazing crew! We went out with Captain Christian, Mike and Cole. They combined beautiful views of the Na Pali coast, fun and entertainment, and guest safety all into a wonderful afternoon of delight. We took the dinner cruise, leaving the harbor about 2:30 or so, and returned to see the beautiful sunset. The views of the Na Pali coast cannot be described! Captain Chris kept us informed throughout our trip, Mike and Cole visited each and everyone on board, making sure we were having a good time and feeling ok, especially as the seas were a little rough. (Consider taking Bonine or Dramamine before going out) The crew offers Ginger Ale and pretzels as soon as we left the docks to help settle stomachs. Dinner was good and drinks were plenty once we turned around. An impromtu sing-along to the tunes playing onboard was headed by Cole, on our way home. What an amazing day! The weather was iffy and the ocean was starting to experience the first winter swells of the season, but it didn't take away from the wonderful day that we both had celebrating our birthdays. Matt, Ryan, Johnny, and Capt. Christian were so fun, hospitable and informative throughout the whole trip, that it didn't really matter that the conditions weren't the greatest. Matt was so friendly and we loved that he went around and visited and spent time with every group on the boat....and not to mention, he makes a pretty mean Mai Tai! Ryan made sure that we were safe in the water (we only snorkeled) and would try to point out different wildlife in the murky conditions. Great group of guys and I hope to see them again soon! This is the best way to explore the Na Pali coast in Kauai! WOW! Four of us spent the morning on the deluxe snorkel cruise. We had a blast snorkeling and taking in the scenery and marine life. Cole (captain) was hilarious and provided fun and informational commentary on what we were seeing. He even made the rules fun. Quite the feat! Two of the four of us ended up getting seasick about halfway into it but Stacey and Luke (crew) were PHENOMENAL!! They took care of our friends with ice water, napkins, and tips on how to beat the seasickness. They kept us all comfortable and laughing no matter our nausea level. When we returned, we all agreed that if we could just turn the boat around and do the tour again right then and there, we would. It was the best way to end our time in Kauai! My family and I booked the Deluxe Napali Coast Tour and Snorkeling. We started out on time with a brief safety session by Captain Chris and his crew members Dane and Kai. Shoes are not allowed unless they are boat shoes, so there is space to put them. I would recommend bringing a swimsuit, towel, and underwater camera as food (continental breakfast and sandwiches) and drinks are thoroughly provided. The trip was about 4.5 hours, and if you are prone to motion sickness, take a Dramamine the night before and one or two pills 1-2 hours before the tour. The two crew-members were very helpful, and they took any photos you wanted! They were very knowledgeable about the island and Niihau (the native-only island). Captain Chris was a thorough speaker, so be prepared for a lot of jokes. This boat tour was definitely worth it; the Napali Coast is truly a must-see for Kauai!! read more

Blue dolphin canceled trip yesterday due to a windy weather system causing unsafe swells- no problem, they called early am. Rescheduled to today, drove out, checked in, signed release, paid, reparked where they told us, waited with crowd, THEN they announced would not go to Na'apali due to 19 ft swells. The waves are supposed to be 12 ft. tomorrow and doubted they'd be able to make the trip tomorrow (they knew full well they couldn't today as this is all a result of same system and is dying down). Bet they'll book passengers and repeat the deception again. Real low class outfit manipulating customers for profits. The tour they wanted to switch to was $40 less but they weren't reducing charge. We wanted refund but since online thru THEIR website needed "processing time". My wife had to ask for a receipt indicating cancellation. Wow. read more

We enjoyed the dinner cruise (no snorkeling) up the Na Pali coast from Port Angeles. The captain was excellent as was the crew. They give amazing service and are extremely friendly. Whatever you want or need they are there to assist you. Food was very good and cocktails are endless if you want to go that route. The narration is very good also. The crew and captain are very knowledgeable about the area. They give you a lot of local knowledge and history on the way. We saw spinner dolphins, waterfalls, and water caves. The sunset was spectacular but not guaranteed. If you get sea sick, they are very helpful and don't make it a big deal. I wouldn't recommend it for very young children. It is a long boat ride and it's all about the view and the narration. Wonderful trip! read more

We're a family of four (parents and two boys in late teens) who flew to Kauai from a visit in Maui for this dive experience specifically. We've done many of the other Hawaii dives (Molokini back wall, Lanai cathedral, Kona manta rays) and were hoping for something on the wilder side. Fathom Five delivered. The hard part is the "commute." It's a 2.5 hr boat ride (each way) from the pier in Poipu. The head on the boat wasn't working the day we visited, which was a scary prospect. But Fathom Five had the innovation of waterproof beanbags, which made the trips as relaxing and enjoyable as they could be. We thought Drake's attentive driving as we battled back into the afternoon trades helped a lot as well. Sean, our guide, was a true pro. He knew everything about the biology above and below water, the geology of the islands, and the history of Niihau. We dove Vertical Awareness first and immediately knew this was going to be special. We were met by an inquisitive sandbar shark as soon as we got to the bottom and soon saw our first (of probably a dozen) monk seals asleep and nestled into the wall. The visibility was essentially infinite. The layers of volcanic sediment result in crevices that are home to lobsters, eels, and nudibranchs. Bring a dive light. The second dive was the Ledges. The rubble from the collapsed wall of the crater is striking. I just remember thinking to myself while I was underwater, this is the best dive I've ever done. The final dive we did was the Arches. A little less visibility. A little less wildlife. But the swim-throughs might have made it the most memorable. Couldn't recommend this dive and these guys enough for a once in a lifetime experience.

This particular day, for whatever the reason, didn't have too many passengers. It made for a better cruise experience, in my opinion. After the normal safety briefing, we set off on the Kalapaki Kai II (smooth sailing gorgeous catamaran!) with the captain narrating the entire evening. While this was not a dinner cruise, we did enjoy a full service bar with light snacks during the evening. In my opinion, the cruise seemed uneventful and not very entertaining, but I am not necessarily interested in history, which is mainly what the captain spoke about during the cruise. He did a thorough job speaking about the Kauai scenery, fish ponds, mangrove trees, Haupu mountain range, Kalapaki Beach, the lighthouse, golf-course and Kauai's still-standing original hotel! We even watched numerous people surfing in the Nawiliwili Bay.... Can't say I'll see that anywhere else except Hawaii! The sunset was not anything to speak of the night of my cruise... but that is clearly out of our control! While I had a ho-hum evening... I will still highly recommend this sunset cruise! It was an incredibly smooth sail.... Short & sweet -- started at 5:30p and ended just as the sun set!

This one I'm going to have to file under one of the hardest things I've done in my life! But I'm so…read moreproud we accomplished this and did this! So many people talk about kayaking the Wailua River and hiking to Secret Falls. We didn't get a chance to do this on our last trip, but my youngest and I tackled this on this trip! Our guide, Ronda, arrived a couple minutes after our tour start time at 1pm. The morning guide said she'd be along "in island time." Once she got there, she took the time to tell us a little about herself, went around our group and had us each introduce ourselves and share a few words. She took the time to memorize all of our names! She also explained to us as all the other tours were heading out, that she liked to hang back and let everyone go do their thing so we can experience the falls privately as just our group. This girl knows what she's doing! It was about a two mile kayaking journey up the Wailua River with stops intermittently along the way for our "kayak kisses" so Ronda could tell us about the history and other aspects of the island. We were almost in our own little version of Survivor, thinking up ways we could survive out there and what we would need. It was honestly very cool. Once we got the end of the kayaking journey, we were given walking sticks for the moderate 1 mile hike to Secret Falls. There are a couple of areas where you have to cross through water, but nothing higher than the knees, at that time. The hike was beautiful! Ronda pointed out the Hawaiian Woodrose, kukui nuts, which we got to crack open and have a small sample, we washed our hands with awapuhi from the awapuhi plant, etc. it was such a cool adventure. We met the local songbird and dug to find worms for him to eat. He ate right from our hands! He actually landed on my hand and looked at me for a couple seconds! We saw cows on the journey home as well. Secret Falls is amazing. We had a blast swimming around there and resting from the journey. We met a lot of great people in our tour. It was like we all became a little family. We packed up and hiked back to our kayaks and headed back down the Wailua for the journey home. This time the wind was against us, so it was literally like paddling upstream both ways lol! This was such an amazing experience. I'm sure I'm leaving some things out because there was so much! I would say, if you're doing the 1pm tour, don't have any other plans the rest of the day. You don't want to be in a rush to get out of there. Our 5 hour tour ended up being close to 7 hours. It was nice because on the way back the motorized vessels were no longer on the river, so we didn't have to worry about other traffic. I'd also recommend having dinner for that night figured out ahead of time because most places locally close at 8pm. We were able to grab dinner from a spot about 10 minutes prior to their closing. They recommend tennis shoes or hiking boots, but my daughter and I used our water socks/reef shoes and while there were a couple times when we were bouldering I would have liked to have better shoes, ultimately it wasn't an issue. Ronda gives you an opportunity to unplug from the world, get yourself on island time, and take in all the beauty Kauai has to offer. Take it!

Wes met us at the river and went over very clear instructions and tips. It was great that they included wet bags to store your things. The river itself was beautiful, the waterfall 'hike' is generally very easy with a couple stream and river crossings that are slip hazards but overall not physically strenuous, and the waterfall is beautiful and the pool is swimmable. Plenty of time to check out both arms of the river. **WARNING - DO NOT park in the adjacent thrift store parking lot if the park parking is full. They slapped a huge sticker on our windshield and demanded $25 in payment when we got back to our car despite actually spending some time in the thrift shop and scheduling a donation time.
