Joined Blue Dolphin for a charter yesterday and had a wonderful experience! We had booked a 1/2 day sail up the Na'pali coast and snorkeling at Niihau (The Forbidden Island), but unfortunately, the weather wasn't favorable in order to cross the channel to Niihau, so our tour was converted to a 5 hr sail up Na'pali and we stopped and snorkeled on the way back. Our captain, Chad, was up front about this before we left, and we were given an option to re-book. We were also given a partial refund for the difference in price between the two tour types. We elected to stay on rather than rebook. Who can control the ocean?! First, a shout out to the crew: Chad, Elias, and Kai. They were so friendly and knowledgeable and really took the experience to another level. Elias went out of his way to learn and remember our names and to help our kiddo out with snorkeling (it was her first experience in the open ocean, and she was a bit intimidated). Captain Chad shared a ton of local native legends and Hawaiian cultural information with us at specific locations on the Na'pali coast, and let me tell you, he's a talented captain too. He took the catamaran within 10' of the cliffs so we could "bathe" under a waterfall. We saw both bottlenose and spinner dolphins (spinners are the most common here in the islands, so we felt lucky to see both), and also caught a monk seal. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and this crew made a somewhat rough day on the ocean more fun (to be honest, I thought the rollers were fun anyway, but I don't get motion sickness and have some adrenaline junky in me). Ten of ten, and beat the large, well-known charter company I've used on one of the other islands by a mile. Will book here again. Travel tip: don't forget to tip your crew! read more

We went on a sunset dinner cruise with Captain Chad, Nicole, and Whitney! We had a BLAST they were so good to us, waited on us hand and foot and so understanding. It was not buffet style due to covid, there were two dinner options both were just ok. I got comfortably drunk! Nicole and Whitney did not skimp on the drinks they understood the assignment. Captain Chad filled us in on some native history, which I felt was important. I hope we did his home justice and exhibited respect for the history of Hawaii. They told us when we got on the boat we would get wet, BUUUUUT I REALLY wish when I received the confirmation/information on the trip that the company would have STRESSED the fact that you'll likely get DRENCHED on the boat so dress accordingly. I along with most of the other passengers were dressed on the nicer side (with the exception of some veterans). I'm fine with water, just wish I had the opportunity to understand to be prepared for it. I would do this again...but maybe with a bathing suit/hybrid outfit. I've been on a few of these over the years but these guys made it extra fun. Captain had great stories of Hawaii, especially Kauai which really added to the fun. We had a fantastic tour with Captain Joe, Kai and Nicole. The Captain knows what he's doing and we felt very comfortable. Snorkel time starts just 10 minutes into the trip which was surprising at first since last time I did this (mid June) we snorkeled out at the Na Pali cliffs. Once we left the snorkeling area the seas were a bit choppy, but the Captain navigated professionally and the crew was very friendly. The captain took us close to the cliffs and caves which was unexpected since the last time I did this (in June on a different charter) we did not go that close. Snorkeling early was smart as it was way too rough to snorkel at the NaPali cliffs on this trip this time of year (early April). Note: The swells were about 15 ft and if you're prone to sea sickness you should take precautions. I am prone to sea sickness but I was perfectly fine on this amazing trip! My recipe: Stand outside, in the back on the side of the catamaran that faces the land. Look out into the hills -- do not focus on the ocean and do not read or stare at your phone. Looking out into the hills will make a HUGE difference in whether or not you get seasick. Do not over eat before sailing: avoid coffee. I took 1/2 of a Dramamine tablet 30 minutes before departure. The Crew & Captain were great, lots of fun. Captain was very knowledgeable of the beautiful scenery to the Napali Coast & waters. The sunset with champagne was nice and the crew were very attentive. The 'buffet' lunch was disappointing, nor inside tables to sit and eat. I didn't expect to eat on paper plates holding food in my lap. The rum drinks were from a can.. I would've paid the extra for a cruise with eating tables and nicer meal. read more

First off this was an amazing excursion. Captain Nate and Nicole did an great job making everyone feel comfortable. We covered so much of the coast it was well worth it. We got to see sea turtles, dolphins, and fish while snorkeling. I while say if you have a back problem or neck problem or not in the best of shape. This could kick your butt. I would say I'm a pretty active guy and I was a little sore the next day. Hanging on the road hitting the waves. If you're okay with that. This will be life changing. I had people say it looks like there's a green screen behind you. Nope this is actual photos! I still can't believe I was there. If your on the fence I would say GO!! I've taken quite a few different charters visiting Hawaii over the past 12 years with different experiences with each. Overall, I must say, my trip today with Blue Dolphin Charters in Kauai was one of the best ever. Captain Chad was amazing. Great personality and fun. He was also very knowledgeable and he and his crew worked hard to ensure everyone was safe but also enjoying the trip. They had to improvise a little because of swells that affected the snorkel portion of the trip. Captain Chad though communicated clearly to everyone what was going on and then gave us options on what we could do as an alternative. Before making a decision he asked us if we were ok with altering our plans which ultimately ensured everyone's safety. That said, we toured the entire Na Pali coastline, went under a waterfall, and were able to see both dolphins and whales up close (a couple feet from the boat close). This was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I loved that our guides Danny and Ben were so cool and down to earth. Danny especially, was great at explaining the history of the Na Pali Coast. He was so enthusiastic, motivated and funny. We all enjoyed the company that he provided. He made our tour of the Na Pali coast amazing. Even with the South swells coming in, Danny was determined to get us through the tour safely and ADVENTUROUSLY. He followed through on his mission and we were able to check off so many things off of our list. We got to see a big group of DOLPHINS hanging out in the waters, see a bunch of TURTLES, go inside the famous roofless CAVE, and snorkel with tons of FISHES. For the price that my boyfriend and I paid, it was all worth it! I'd do it again. [THE ZODIAC RIDE] Our tour consisted of 14 people. From the office, we all jumped into 1 van and took a short ride to the dock. The crew briefed us on how to hang on during the ride. 1 hand on the rope to your side, the other hand on the rope between your legs. Sit with your back straight and don't hunch over. Hang onto your hat or you'll part from it (the wind was strong). If you want to get wet, sit in the back. If you want a wild ride, sit in the front. Either way, we all ended up getting a little bit of both. Gloves were offered during the ride, to those whose hands didn't like the rope rubbing against their skin. [THE WEATHER] If you constantly check your weather app like me, then you constantly worry about how it'll affect your experience. I expected rain for the day. The only rain we saw lasted a good 3 minutes at the end of our tour. It was sunny for most of the trip. The only thing that couldn't be helped was the spontaneous south swells, but we still got to enjoy the ride. If you're questioning whether or not you should do this, I'd say go for it! You won't regret it! Bring a camera too. read more

Funny with commentary, helpful with everything (would even walk you down the stairs and get food & drink for you), and definitely knew what they were doing and what they were talking about. The scenery of course was gorgeous and we had a lovely day weatherwise. A highlight for our group was seeing a pod of dolphins. Amazing! We drove an hour 15 minutes to get here from the north shore to be told the Nepali Cost part of the Nepali Coast experience will not happen. A test, email or call would have been a nice thing. Got a full refund, but not happy with this. That's it for my opinion. read more

We had a great time on the sunset dinner cruise! Captain Rob and his crew (Kai and Dane) were so friendly - from small talk to story telling and even offering to take photos, they really made the trip. I thought the dinner was GREAT. Pre dinner snack was just pretzels, so don't come too hungry (we ate about an hour after leaving Port Allen). The views were STUNNING. Even though it was a relatively calm day according to the crew, 3 people got really sick, and there was quite a bit of lurching- if you get a little seasick, medicate appropriately. CLOTHING: It was obviously very windy - learn from my mistake and don't wear clothing that will fly around and annoy you endlessly! No hats. Bring a sweatshirt- even on an 80 degree day, when the sun starts to set, it got chilly on the water! Even on our "calm"day, water shot up in the front of the boat; wear something you don't mind getting wet (and sitting in all afternoon). Seeing the NaPali coast (and a couple sea turtles & whales!) was a once in a lifetime experience that ever Kauai visitor should make time for! Blue Dolphin did a great job! read more

We had such a fun day on the Blue Dolphin excursion! For starters, the crew (Capt Joe, Ruby, Brian, JR and the others) were amazing- not only did they give us an incredible tour that was informative and entertaining but they moved around the boat so seemlessly to keep everyone safe and food/beverages full. They were so proactive and truly made this already 5 star excursion over the top! The playlist was also great. The boat was comfortable and clean and offered a variety of seating options. The slide was fun as was jumping off the side to snorkel. The food was excellent- best cinnamon rolls ever for breakfast and fresh wraps for lunch. Very well done. The excursion itself was phenomenal - seeing the coast from the boat is an absolute must do. Our day was quite calm but if you are susceptible to being sea sick, be sure to take Dramamine. The rolling waves of the Pacific can be no joke but the boat handled is very well and it was fun experiencing them. The Napali Coast is stunning between the beautiful waters and the impressive cliffs and archways. The sea turtles and pods of dolphins were awesome to see from the boat too. As many of these reviews say, this was our FAVORITE excursion we did in Kauai! It was so beautiful, fun, the staff made the trip worth every single penny and more! Their experience and professional manner was 100% awesome. They were knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. We are a family of 5 and we have a 3 yr old. I was a little nervous to bring him on board but he did great and the staff, again was so helpful! My two girls 7 & 9 had never snorkeled but they did on this trip! They saw a ton of fish, spinner dolphins and sea turtles. The Napali Coast is stunning. So amazing! Take your motion sickness pills before you go if you are sensitive to getting sea sick. We had such an amazing experience last weekend with Blue Dolphin charters. The captain and crew is really what made our experience so awesome. First off, Captain Joe, was SO caring about everyone on board. My mom for example was really nervous about snorkeling. Captain Joe didn't only reassure her, but literally jumped in the water and held her hand until she felt comfortable. She ended up having an awesome time snorkeling, but would have never ever had the guts to actually try it until Captain Joe guided her through every single step. The crew too - Whitney, Nate, and Evan - were all so caring, kind, and fun people. To top it all off, the Na Pali coast is absolutely gorgeous, and we saw whales up close and personal, dolphins, several turtles, and tropical fish. The food and drink served was all very generous and delicious as well. The breakfast was a delicious cinnamon roll and tropical fruit. Lunch was a turkey wrap, macaroni salad, veggies, and cookies.
