My wife and I recently purchased a motor home from Blue Dog RV in Kennewick, Washington. This was not our first RV purchase and we have had numerous experiences with various RV dealers throughout the northwest. With this in mind, we think it would be appropriate to share our experiences with Tri-Cities' Blue Dog RV.
Upon entering the sales lot we were met by Wallace W. and Ned H. who proceeded to spend most of the morning professionally asking questions about our needs and attempting to show us viable options regarding our needs in terms of motor home size, options, fuel economy, benefits of gas vs. diesel, financing, and other points of interest. At no time was there any high pressure or attempts to speed up our decision-making. In fact, our questions regarding buying a motor home were answered over email and telephone by these two over the course of the next week as we considered our possible purchase. We considered Ned and Wallace to be more like consultants rather than sales personnel, a refreshing change from our dealings with other dealerships in the past.
While being completely pleased with our experience with the sales staff, it is the service personnel who stole the show!
In the process of negotiating to buy our motor home, we were told that a satellite TV system was part of the purchase but, unfortunately, there was not one with it. We also wanted to be sure that the back-up camera was operational (we had trouble getting it to operate during our test drive) and needed a swivel-mouint for the front TV so that it could be watched more easily from the dinette. In addition, Ned and Wallace mentioned that the passenger front seat needed to be re-upholstered due to some sun damage and that service would take care of it.
Well.....,
Upon entering the door at the Pasco Service Center, Tony S. greeted us by name and asked which kind of satellite system we wanted. Not being completely sure, we asked about each, had our questions answered about each of the three in terms of our needs, and then chose the entry level model (Tony had taken the liberty to have three levels available). We then asked about a motor home cover and wheel covers (completely expecting to have to purchase them separately). Long story short - because we had chosen the lower end satellite TV, Tony threw in a cover and wheel covers! When does something like that happen in today's world?
Next, Tristan W. spends the next two hours patiently going through our motor home with us. He answered questions, had us practice putting the awning up and down, gave us tips on maintenance, and told us where to find more information on the internet regarding specific points about our motor home. But..., when we asked about the back up camera he tells us "oh, we weren't sure about it operating correctly so we installed a brand new Sony stereo system with camera, bluetooth, and cd capability." I repeat, when does that happen??
But wait, there's more... The service staff knew we had a trip planned to the Oregon coast in a few days and had de-winterized the rig. We then made an appointment to have the seats repaired and TV swivel installed upon our return. We brought the motor home back in and waited for the call saying we could pick it up. My previous dealing with RV repairs warned me that this could be a while! However, Jay C. stepped in and said he would do what he could to speed things up (as the upholstering was being done by a third party). Not only does Jay act as our intermediary with the upholster, he finds the time to call us twice and email us once with updates and a timetable for repairs to be completed! And.....he had both the passenger and driver's seats upholstered so that they would match! Suffice to say, way beyond our expectations! Unbelievable!
Sorry for the length of this review, but when we encounter a level of service and professionalism like this we feel that people should know about it!
