quite a delicious diner located in new jersey. my overall favorites dishes were the steamed potato and cheese pierogies that had the most hearty, comforting potato filling with the perfect bit of cheese. i also really enjoyed the lemon ricotta pancakes that were topped with the most perfect zesty lemon compote. both of these dishes really stood out to me. i liked the mocha but it tasted more like a hot coffee and had a very light chocolate flavor. overall the food was honestly incredible. i would 100% come back. service was great. of note, i did have to wait 25 minutes for a party of six and the restaurant was fairly busy so just plan ahead.

We love it here! First time visiting and not the last for sure. We were seated very quickly, but I am sure it gets super busy on a weekend morning. Worth the wait, in my opinion. It is very cute inside with the butterfly wallpaper and there is some seating outside for a warmer fall day. I was excited to see a lot of Polish favorites on the menu and will have to try those the next time I am back. My husband got the pancakes and I had the Paris morning breakfast (eggs, salmon, baguette, potato pancakes with cream, dill, and capers) and swapped the poached egg for scrambled eggs. It was so good and one of the crispiest potato pancakes I have ever had! My husband said he wished he had order that instead despite enjoying his pancakes. Our only complaint was that both of our iced drinks were warm on the bottom. Could be a quick fix by shaking the drinks with ice or just leaving more room in the glass to top with iced. Next time, I would just get a hot beverage instead.

Such a cute place for breakfast! The food and service was great and the food came quickly for a Saturday morning. There was a wait to sit outside but we got a table right inside for 4 people. It's also in a really cute area of the town to walk around before or after!

Nice little cozy corner spot with outdoor seating. Service was great. We both order some iced coffee that was okay. Needed a little more ice. The eggs Benedict were beautifully made and tasted delicious. We also tried the Paris breakfast - instead of the poached eggs I got them fried. The platter was okay. Wasn't too happy with the taste of everything on my plate but didn't hate it. Overall - for the drive that I took to eat here - I'm sure I could've picked something better off the menu to eat. Overall not a bad place to have brunch.

Charming little spot in Basking Ridge with exceptional service and delicious food. Went for a Saturday breakfast and just managed to get a table. The place was packed at around 9am and the lines kept growing during our time there. Our server was attentive and friendly. It was my first time visiting and I mentioned we wanted to try a few different items. She went ahead and split each meal; each plate presented beautifully! Clean space, friendly staff, prompt service, and tasty food! Blue Cafe is a place we'll be visiting again! Tip: Definitely go early so you don't have to wait.

Stopped by blue cafe on a whim today and wow I was so pleasantly surprised. Tried the chicken pesto sandwich which was amazing (the olive bread is a nice touch). I also saw they had blintzes on the menu and it peaked my curiosity as I've never had them before. These were sooo good with the blueberry compote. Food was filling and it was enough for 2 full servings for me. I ordered takeout today but the inside is cute with a few tables available. Outdoor seating also available and all servers were so sweet. Prices were reasonable for the quality and taste. I'll be back!

This place was an off the road stop on our way home. So glad we did! Adorable and clean restaurant with friendly service that really understands what kids need too! The food was perfect! I am part Ukrainian and enjoyed seeing some dishes from my past... I got the dish with pirogies, potato pancakes, kielbasa, and their homemade sauerkraut (I normally don't like it store bought,but this was fantastic ... like what I remember). Also, perfectly made cortado.

This is our go-to place for breakfast on a weekend lately,especially due to variations of Easter Europe dishes available,that's rather difficult to find in New Jersey. Whilst there's no way to reserve a table in advance,once you do get in,service is super quick and everything we've tried from their menu was lovely. Ambiance is very cozy and European,from the setup,to menu,to dishes in which the meals are being served. Thumbs up!

We had an excellent breakfast experience! I ordered the Mediterranean Avocado Toast, and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My husband had the Warsaw Skillet, which was hearty, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. We also tried the pumpkin iced latte, which was smooth and full of fall flavor without being overly sweet. Everything was prepared with great attention to detail, and the service matched the quality of the food. We'll definitely be coming back!

Delicious spot for breakfast and lunch! It's a smaller, cozy place and they don't take reservations but seems to move pretty well. The food is delicious! I tried the blue cafe plate which had homemade pierogis, potato pancakes, and kielbasa. I also got the vanilla chai which was rich and delicious! Service was very quick and friendly

Worth the wait. Both times I've come here on a Saturday afternoon the wait has been 30-45 min, but always worth it. They do rotate and have specials and can say its the best French toast I've ever had (not pictured was the strawberry French toast) my family loved their meals as well (pancakes, toast,eggs,etc) The polish donuts were amazing treat that were light, sweet but not too sweet and airy with a little blueberry inside. I've come in summer and it's great to have outdoor dining when it's a nice day which also cuts down on wait times. Have to come back to this little gem again. Maybe come closer to closing as the last hour there was no wait after us.

Listen, there is no greater feeling then going to a new city and finding a jackpot restaurant. This place has the absolute best breakfast. I've had in a long time the food is delicious. This service is amazing and I absolutely love the ability to eat outside minus the bees looking forward to returning in the near future, but highly recommend this spot if you're in the area.

Impeccable diner, with easily the best meal I've had in months. Tucked away in a very cute town, this café immediately feels like a home-cooked meal with plenty of well-spaced tables all seated close to one another as part of a beautifully decorated restaurant. The food was delicious, including ample serving sizes, fresh vegetables, and homemade sliced bread, which normally comes as just basic for most restaurants. There appear to be some very good pastries as well. On the weekends, this place can get packed very quickly. Get here early and try to snag a table by the window if you can. The special items are delicious and as an example, I ordered maple, cinnamon, flavored iced coffee, splashed with almond milk.

The Blue Cafe is a great place to get breakfast. My group ordered the French Toast, Huevos Rancheros, Eggs Benny and a 3 egg omelet and we were all VERY impressed by the food. The breakfast and brunch food is amazing. The Paris morning is my fav. followed by French toast. Both savory and sweet dishes are yummy. Went once a week for a month because we wanted to try as much as we could. Their latte, cappuccino and chai teas are all top notch including foam art. (Note: they put cinnamon powder on matcha latte - so note to self - ask for no cinnamon) The only complaint is that the owner/ manager is not very friendly. The staff is friendly and always refilling water and coffee. Seems to be socially distanced (only been since after Covid). Hand sanitizers on tables and staff and patrons wear masks unless eating or drinking. read more

We don't find ourselves in Basking Ridge very often. But we were in town yesterday morning and looking for breakfast. My wife found some promising reviews of the Blue Cafe and since we were close, we decided to give it a try. The first thing you need to know is the place isn't very large and it is apparently very popular. It was Saturday morning and the weather was nice (but a little cool), so, the cafe was busy. As I said, the place isn't very large, a rectangular space, with a display case/server station at the far end. They also have several two seat and four seat tables outside, with propane outdoor heaters along side the larger tables. Upon arriving, there were several customers waiting outside. The dining room was full and very active. The hostess told us the wait would be 20-30 minutes, but a few of their outdoor tables were available, so we took a one. While reviewing the menu, we quickly noticed there was an eastern European (Polish) touch to the menu. Their Warsaw Skillet included kielbasa from Polaski's in Linden (the very best place in the state for kielbasa, in my opinion), and they had paczki on the menu. To the uninitiated, paczki are filled donuts, usually fruit filled (ie: prune, blueberry). What sets these Polish treats apart from the variety you'd find at a Dunkin Donuts is paczki are always larger, have a fluffier center and the filling is typically placed under the top crust of the donut, not in the center. The filling of the day was blueberry, so, we ordered two, to go, as a post breakfast treat we could enjoy later. They were some of the best paczki we've ever had. Our waitress was prompt, friendly and checked on us frequently. I ordered the Warsaw Skillet (a 6" cast iron skillet, filled with fried potatoes & onions, kielbasa and topped with two eggs). My wife ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, but asked to hold the lemon curd and requested whipped cream instead. As others have described, the 3 pancakes were large, fluffy and square (which surprised me). Even without the lemon curd, they were very flavorful, with what I believe was candied lemon rind. The whipped cream was fresh, not Readi-whip, and there was a generous helping of fresh berries on her plate as a garnish. Overall it was a very nice experience. If I were to have any criticism at all, it would be how they service the outdoor tables. Servers have to go from the display counter/server station, move through the busy dining room, exit the front door, pass patrons waiting outside to get to the outdoor tables. During our visit, all three areas were fairly busy, making this task a bit challenging for the servers. A window or door near the kitchen/server station, directly to the outdoor tables would be far more efficient. But for now, it is what it is. Its' still worth your time! read more

What an amazing experience at this quaint restaurant in a former home right in the middle of town. The interior is well appointed and gives the feeling of being in someone's dining room. Our server, Abi, was extremely pleasant, helpful and efficient. She immediately took our drink orders and gave us just the right amount of time to look over the varied menu. I opted for the Warsaw Skillet which contained the BEST Kielbasa I have ever eaten. The owner visited our table and was extremely pleasant and wanted to be sure that everything was perfect and it certainly was. My only negative is that living in Florida we will only be able to visit EVERY time we are in NJ. Do yourself a favor and run, don't walk to this one of a kind gem! read more

Amazing breakfast/brunch! Everything is homemade and you can tell. We had the French toast which was made with homemade brioche. You don't even need to chew, it's so soft and tasty that it melts in your mouth. Also had the omelette with no shortage of options to add and every one was flavorful and fresh. My fiance and I both love the Blue Cafe Parisian breakfast is my favorite. I like that they have a real espresso machine it makes yummy coffee drinks. And it's so nice to walk through town. Its nice new edition to Basking Ridge. I hope people support them that corner seems to be cursed. Let's break the curse and see Blue Cafe make it! read more

A great lunch brunch spot. My daughter had the chicken and waffles. Chicken tender was crispy on the outside still warm and juicy on the inside. Waffle was crispy with a hint of sweetness and the sriracha honey was the perfect blend of sweet with kick at the end of every bite. I had the Blue Cafe Plate, which was a delicious trio of polish specialties. The only draw back to the meal was price of the lime Rickey for the size served. read more

This is a wonderful little addition to our town The owners are very gracious hosts as well. Breakfast all day! Lunch is terrific as well. Veggie burger is made in house and served on a multi grain bread and real fries or salad. The french toast is crazy delicious! Already planning brunch with friends for next week! Definitely recommend it read more

In a word...excellent. In an area where most of the restaurants are average at best, the Blue Cafe stands out. My wife and I went for lunch on the 1st day of school and were seated outside at a cozy table for 2. She had the Baja bowl and I had the focaccia chicken sandwich. I believe we eat with our eyes 1st and both dishes looked as good as they tasted. Service was perfect too. We'll be back for sure. read more

I'll start my review by stating this establishment is quite simply a hidden gem in Basking Ridge,New Jersey!!! My wife and I decided to try out a new place for breakfast and we knew we picked a wonderful place. I had Ricotta Lemon Pancakes with a generous amount of mixed berries and maple syrup with lemon curd placed on top of the pancakes. One of the most unusual but incredibly delicious breakfasts I've ever had!!!! We had a wonderful and attentive server in Cesar who kept my coffee cup filled throughout our time at our table. This is an 8 table Cafe and very comfortable. I would highly recommend trying out the Blue Cafe if you're in the mood for an enjoyable meal in a rural setting!!! read more

Went for lunch & enjoyed every bite. Food was amazing. I had the grilled chicken salad & my guest had the chicken pesto sandwich. Both yummy! Decor was very comfy & staff was very attentive. Loved the juice bar. Local owners were very friendly. It was busy but not overwhelming. Small but lively place with great outdoor seating. Can't wait to try their breakfast! read more

From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the warm, cozy atmosphere. But what truly made this place special was the incredible food and outstanding service. We ordered the Paris Morning--a delightful combination of crispy potato pancake, smoked salmon, crème fraîche, poached eggs, capers, dill, and a French baguette--and the Blintzes, which featured three Ukrainian-style crepes filled with farmer cheese, topped with homemade whipped cream and blueberry compote. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous enough for us to share. What truly set this experience apart, though, was the exceptional service. Our server, Malvin, was an absolute gem--warm, professional, and incredibly attentive despite how busy the café was. He made us feel genuinely welcomed, and our meals arrived promptly, even with a packed house. A few days later, I happened to be in the area alone and couldn't resist returning. To my surprise, Malvin not only recognized me but also remembered exactly what my boyfriend and I had ordered the first time!
