Long version: My lawn mower called to tell me he "found" a nest of yellow jackets burrowed into the ground when he ran over it with his lawnmower. Fortunately he is ok and only got stung once when they swarmed out because he started taking his weed whacker to them. It was after hours when he called me so I couldn't do anything about it until the next day. I did some research and made a few phone calls, then created a Yelp project as well. Several places returned my call and insisted on doing monthly maintenance after the initial treatment, even though I insisted I wanted them gone the first time they came and didn't want to do anything monthly. I'm not unrealistic, I know it is a HUGE hazard and a big deal to get rid of the any type of hornet, but some of the prices I was being quoted were equivalent to car payments, and the others didn't offer options without the monthly fees. I was getting discouraged by how much many places were fear mongering and trying to upsell me, so on Saturday I called up the lawn guy to see if he was still willing to get rid of them for me (he had offered to take carte of them himself, but I didn't want him getting swarmed and stung again so I told him to let me make some calls first). He was hesitant, but was still willing to do it. He was going to do some checking to see what he needed to do and how and let me know how much he needed for supplies and do it the next week. Skip ahead to Sunday afternoon. On Sunday one of the companies I had called, The Local Guy Pest Control, called me back and immediately apologized for taking so long to return my call (he had been out of town). No worries, I understand that. It is a small, local, family owned business where the owner himself comes out to do the service. Great! I love to support small businesses! How much to get rid of the problem and what will you do? (By now I had a pretty good idea of what it would take to kill the colony and destroy the nest, courtesy of bee and wasp handlers form all over the country posting videos online.) The owner showed up at my house bright and early on Tuesday, within 24 hours of me agreeing to use his service Monday morning. He was at my house for about 30 minutes and got rid of the colony, then treated the nest so any stragglers who were already out for the day would die when they returned. He was fast, thorough, and efficient. The price was very reasonable for the amount of time and risk involved in the job, AND he assured me that monthly maintenance was definitely NOT needed. He offered a guarantee on his services, so if I notice renewed activity I can simply call him back to take care of it. Tuesday night I let my lawn mower know the deed was done and that he didn't need to worry about doing it. He returned Wednesday evening to mow, so I checked in with him on the status of the nest. He reported back that not one single yellow jacket came out of the hole they were in, so all was well. SO many thanks to The Local Guy Pest Service! My mom is allergic and my dog is small, so this was literally a life-saving service for them! I will go to The Local Guy Pest Service first for ALL of my future needs, you have earned a new repeat customer with this one.

    I was calling around just yesterday to get quotes for pest services as the ants have just gotten…read moreout of control, and the spiders followed. Mantis wasn't initially the cheapest service I found, but they were the friendliest on the phone, had the quickest turnaround from phone call to initial service (one day!), and over the course of the two year contract would actually be the cheapest service ($109 upfront fee and $99 per quarter versus other services that waived the upfront fee but charged $149 per quarter). Well, I just had Cory out to my house to spray inside and out for ants and spiders and I cannot say enough about his efficiency, professionalism, and attitude! He wore booties to come in the house, explained the spraying process to me, what would be most effective on spiders vs ants, assured me of the product safety, listened to my concerns, ignored my kids' messy room (hallelujah), and I'm hopeful this is the start of the end of our ant problem. I'm totally looking forward to having an ant-free house with great and friendly service from Cory and Mantis!

    I was with Mantis Pest Solution for the past 7 or 8 years. In the beginning they were great over…read morethe past year to year and a half they have been poor. I went from not needing to monitor them a to micromanage them. I hate to be micromanged therefore I don't like to do it. This past Thursday I took off work to be here for Edward to do the lawn treatment which consists of putting down granules and spraying the yard and spraying the bushes. Edward arrives arrives at 9:53 am gets of the truck at 10:02 am puts his gear on then proceeds to spray the bushes in the front and back yard. He goes back to his truck, I thought he was getting ready to treat the yard and I look up and he is gone at 10:16 am Now I'm in my living room and I'm able to see the front and back yard along with my cameras. I wait to receive the invoice to see if he notes as to why he only treated the bushes. I receive the invoice and he state he treats the front the backyard and the bushes which is not true so at 10:39 am I called Mantis and speak with Caleb. Who I happen to speak with earlier that week to get a window of time when my service will be getting completed and I stated there's an issue with ants. I tell Caleb that Edward did not treat the front yard or the backyard only did the bushes and I need my yard serviced today. He states can get someone out Saturday I said that it's not acceptable. I took off work to be here because I have to be here because over the past year year and a half service has been poor. Caleb states they cannot get anyone back out today. I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager. I explained this is not good customer service as to I took off work to get a service completed and the service was not completed. I have to be inconvenienced on a weekend because I definitely have to watch whoever they send out to ensure they complete the task as it is to be completed. Caleb states the manager was not available and would give me a call on Friday I ask again if they can get someone out today. He states there's no way they can get anyone out until Saturday I proceed to tell Caleb to go ahead and cancel my contract and I still would like. call from Greg. He states okay and they would give me a call before 5pm Friday. He did ask for me to send the video of Edward not completing the job I told him that they can come see it when they do the reservice today because I'm not sending a video. I'm telling you what occurred as a customer of 7 to 8 years and I understand you may want to see the video to have to hopefully provide to the worker and show that they didn't do anything but how about provide good customer service and get someone back out here today to actually do my service that I paid for and I will gladly show the video. I'm not going to keep being the one jumping through hoops and adjusting my schedule when I'm paying you all especially when the service is subpar. Needless to say I did not receive a call from Greg on Friday and now we are here.
