Now I can add to my list the James Beard nominated Chef Vanessa Rose. Wow the food at Mother's is off the charts. What a delight. The mosaic steak was a symphony of textures, temperatures, and flavors. Like nothing I've had. The curry gnocchi was the most pillowy pasta I've ever encountered. The one that almost made my mind collapse was the trout. I normally don't bother with trout as it's usually kinda lackluster. The trout Vanessa made for us at Mother's was hands down one of the best pieces of fish I've ever eaten... and I ate my way up the California coast for 30 years. Get in now while it's still possible to get a table. This is as good as it gets. We got the honor of being food nerds when Chef came to the table and talked sauce with us! They have the bar setup in the middle, but I was feeling a bit crushed by all the people and just perused around the bottle area. Their selection is fantastic. They have it separated by location and cover all price points. Everyone can find something. I was given space to look around. Twice someone asked me if I needed help, but it was polite and not pushy. Once I found a Montepulciano I was interested in, someone came over from the bar to check me out. I asked him if it was possible to get one of the cheese trays to go, and was told it was no problem. He would ring it up for me and get right on it. He offered me a seat at the bar while I waited, but I was happy just looking at their other wine options. The cheese plate was super tasty, and a really good value at $15. There were four cheeses, grapes, almonds, crasins, and bread. We really liked the selection and were impressed with the size. Seriously nothing but good things to say. A wonderful reason to visit the market.

I ordered the bagel Sammy (without the egg), and it was absolutely delicious. The bagel had the perfect chew, the ingredients were fresh, and every bite was packed with flavor. Sometimes simple dishes are the hardest to get right, but Black Sheep nailed it. It was satisfying without feeling overly heavy, and the fresh side salad was the perfect complement. What I appreciate most about Black Sheep is the attention to quality. Everything feels intentional, from the fresh ingredients to the beautiful presentation. It's the kind of place where you can tell the kitchen genuinely cares about what they're serving. If you're looking for one of Milwaukee's best brunch spots, Black Sheep deserves a visit. The menu was not overwhelming, and it's nice to be able to sample the wine before committing to a whole glass. The people who work there are also cool and build a very welcoming and warm environment. It's clear that they're very knowledgeable about wine, and not in a snobby way at all. I've been to nonfiction probably three or four times and it's been an amazing experience every time. For food, I've gotten the chips and caviar, which was insanely good, the Caesar salad, and the bread. I can't complain about a single thing!

They do a great job of creating a great atmosphere with a variety of offerings to drink as well that allows for something for everyone. Also expect to have great conversation with the bartenders who just add to the atmosphere.

Last two glasses were having less sake than first glasses we were provided, probably because people who already drunk something would not notice the difference. It's ok to have expensive alcohol pairing with high end dinner but in this case the sake was very regular. By the way, at bar 10 steps away from the Dark room (same hotel, same floor, same the floor area) the same sake did cost $23 for two glasses. Well... I understand people try to run business and earn money but everything should not cross some decency borders. These guys did cross the line in my opinion. Even the host and waiters seem to hype it up, particularly if you come in with cowgirl boots. They opened up the garage door that let in a perfect breeze and the view was spectacular since it was a clear sunny forecast of a day.
