My boyfriend and I were celebrating his (24th) birthday and decided to have a pre-dinner drink at Blu! When we walked in we were greeted with a smile and kind compliment. Our server was with us shortly after sitting, brought us bar nuts and took our drink order. We had ordered a tequila on the rocks, and a Manhattan. A group of four (older folk) sat down next to us about 5 minutes after we put our drink order in. So, here's where my frustration originated. This group had gotten their drinks (including two speciality martinis...) before we had gotten our two drinks on the rocks. AND, had gotten checked in on to make sure their drinks were ok, before we had gotten ours. It was disrespectful and very obvious as to why this group of older adults were served before us. I am an easy going person, so I won't dwell on this experience but felt sharing this low quality customer service was important to all the young professionals looking to have a nice cocktail in a lounge setting. I love the comfy seats and the view at Blu. Skip the fancy martinis on the drink list and opt for an Old Fashioned (Much more affordable). Grab a chair by the window and just relax. It's a great spot for that. Those of us who live here rarely make it up to Blu, I'm trying to change my habits and have been here a few times recently for girl's night. I really love my city and Blu is a great way to see it and appreciate it. Side note, the last stall in the Women's bathroom has a great view. Who doesn't want to look out the window while they pee...I mean who? It's fabulous. read more

I've been coming to this lounge for years now and it continues to be great. Unfortunately, it has been "discovered" and now is quite busy on Fridays and Saturdays. I really enjoy the live jazz and acoustic music they have. The waitstaff is great if you're at a table--the bar not as much. I recommend dressing up for this place...it is upscale and you'll feel more "in place". read more

I made an impromptu visit here after a wedding reception in the Pfister and was pleased to see it lived up to the hype. Absolutely gorgeous views of the city. I probably paid the price of a 6-pack of High Life for just one here (next time I'll just pay the $13 for a cocktail), but given that this isn't my regular place, that's fine. The staff was nice, especially given that a bunch of wedding folks headed up here at once and fairly late. The only downside was when last call happened and, within a few minutes, the lights came on and a bartender literally yelled that they were closed. Always love going to Blu! Great jazz on Fridays couples well with a great cocktail selection. My friends and I prefer to dress in nice attire which most patrons also seem to do. It gets quite loud especially on the weekends which can be annoying if you are in a larger group and want to talk with each other. Friendly wait staff which tries to keep up with the busyness. To celebrate my anniversary, I took my wife out for a steak dinner and then I said "lets go to Blu at the top of the Pfister". Valet parking $16 and they wonder why people don't come downtown. The Blu was nice and cozy, good service and the music was just ok. I don't think I will be back. read more

I really like the views here. Located on top of the Pfister, it's one of the tallest bars in the city, if not the tallest. It's pricey though, and serves a business and fancy casual crowd. A romantic spot for a drink with your honey. Plus, they validate parking. read more

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying my second afternoon tea at Blu and it was a wonderful as the first! The setting is gorgeous -- plush and posh inside, with a stunning view of the lakefront and downtown through the floor to ceiling windows. Each table setting gets its own tea service, with a lovely silver teapot (that stays warm and tilts easily for pouring) and classic china. The service is wonderful -- everyone is attentive and knowledgeable. I especially appreciate the tea butler service, where the tea butler walks you through all the teas, explaining what they are, how they taste, how much caffeine and allows you to smell them. And I appreciate that they have fantastic tea that's from a local company - Rishi Tea. I drink a lot of tea (in fact, I have several of the varieties they offer at home and was excited to try some new options that aren't widely available). The food was also pretty good -- my one quibble would be that my vegetarian tea service didn't need to be quite so restrictive (basically vegan and gluten free too), but everything on it was excellent and I tried a few of the other things from my friends' tray. Overall, I highly recommend Afternoon Tea at Blu for a special gathering on a winter day. read more

If you can find a seat or a corner to burrow in this is a GREAT spot for a date night. There's usually live music and a great view of the city assuming the clouds will allow it. The drinks are delicious! They could expand their lite bites menu but that would be one of my only complaints. It's usually packed for good reason. read more

Fantastic cocktails, and you get your money's worth despite the ten-dollar-a-cocktail prices. These drinks are the strength a cocktail should be. Strong flavors of the liquors, but not overbearing. And the recipes are great, definitely got some unique hits. read more

This place is absolutely great. Drinks are priced appropriately, because this is where you bring your woman and make it rain. The view of the city is awesome and there are plenty of comfy, intimate seating arrangements by the windows. The decor is dimly lit and very nice. A couple things were a little out of whack like the starry ceiling which must have missed a touch up in the recent renovation! This place is not a hip lounge and I don't think it is trying to be. Never wanted to write a review for Blu since it's better kept silent. But last two years ish the place has become crowded never the less my husband and I love this place. Intimate and romantic setting with dim lit setting with a fabulous view any time of the year! Very disappointed. We went for my birthday and got seated right away. Another server was clearing the table and said that our server would be right over. We waited 20 minutes and the staff was talking at the bar and laughing. No one came to get our order or if we ok. They kept looking over at us too, very odd. There was maybe 10-15 people in the whole place. Needless to say we left and they never said anything to us and we walked right by all of them.
