Dined in Blu last night and was so presently surprised having heard very little about the place, I wondered if it was due to good reason; it's not.
Two of us dined, starting with the brie and passion fruit parcels and the mussels in Thai red curry. Both were absolutely delicious and couldn't be faulted. The accompanying salad with the parcels was yummy and the bread with the mussels was warm; always a lovely touch.
For our mains we had the lamb and the rump steak. I'm always dubious of getting minted gravy with lamb, as it's often overpowering, but it was perfectly seasoned and the meat was crispy on the outside, falling apart on the inside; delish! The steak was perfectly cooked and the accompanying onions rings were the so fresh they melted in your mouth. The portions were great and we even took some home so we could leave room for desert.
To follow, we had the cheesecake and the toffee roulade. The cheesecake was gorgeous, but I wasn't too keen on the roulade. That's personal preference, however, as my sister loved it.
Overall our experience in Blu was second to none. The ambiance was perfect and I found myself constantly commenting on the music; it was great!
Finally, a wee mention for our waiter, James, who made the whole experience even more outstanding. Will be recommending Blu to my nearest and dearest for weeks and will be back soon! read more
