Attended the Jessica Audiffred show last night with friends, and we had the best time! The venue was quite large, with plenty of space to dance. There's plush seating in front of the bar if you need to take a rest My friends ordered our drinks so I can't remember the name of it, but tasted good and was exactly what we were wanting! I will say, I don't think our drinks were that strong though (coming from a lightweight) The restrooms are very clean and had several stalls so there was never a long line. There's also an oversized Ottoman in the center, good for setting down coats and purses. When we went, there was a staff member handing us paper towels, very sweet! My friends and I came on a Friday night for the Electrik Seoul event and it was fun. We Ubers since we knew parking was going to be a hassle. Since we came when doors opened it the line wasn't too long and we got through pretty fast. They checked ID and bags. You enter down the stairs and into an area with a DJ and some couches. You exit near the restrooms and not where you enter* There were many areas in the club for photos. Many floor to ceiling mirrors and a booth that looks like you are on the cover of a magazine. The girls restroom was really clean and had an attendant. There were two separate areas with two different DJs. 2 bar areas as well. I ordered drinks from Cameron, she was amazing and sweet despite all the noise. Overall a nice venue! read more

UPDATE: we did end up seeing Reaper, what a let down. Extremely overcrowded, screeching sound that made my ears hurt (despite using excellent ear protection) constantly hearing top 40 tracks being played from the the DJ in the bar room, overpriced water. you could even see Reaper wondering why he could hear other music being blasted during his set. We left about 30 minutes into his set. Since that show, many artists have came to Bloom that I would have loved to see, but I've refused to go - in my opinion, this is the worst place in San Diego to catch a show. read more

In a word, this place is oppressive. The ratio of staff to patrons is way too high, lots of beefy dudes in suits and empty bottle service stations overseen by waitresses in skimpy clothes. I got a full pat down on arrival, a thorough questionnaire and poking check of my prescription pill bottle and the glasses in my shirt pocket, and a talking-to by staff for sitting down and closing my eyes for 30 seconds. Perfect if you like dancing in a police state, but definitely not for me. read more

My son and I traveled here to see a Daft Punk cover "band". They are really DJ's. The place itself is quite unique with several rooms joined together. So if you're in one room you still can hear a bit of music from the other room. Kind of strange but whatever. One of the rooms has a bit of seating of couches but in the big room to see the main act is standing room only unless you pay for a VIP booth with bottle service. The light show was cool and there is a faux magazine cover window to stand behind for photo ops. read more

I enjoyed the location's aesthetics and atmosphere as I entered, but the acoustics weren't my favorite. The music sounded crushed and loud. It's a fun spot for a club vibe, but I would have vastly preferred an outdoor festival vibe with better acoustics for the producer (12th Planet) I came here to see. We were looking for a happening nightclub in Downtown San Diego and got a free entry pass while walking around Gas Lamp area so decided to check out Bloom. This is an underground club so the entry is interesting. As soon as we were inside, we were blown away by the neon lights. They had plenty of seating outside the dance area. The drinks are a little expensive. I highly suggest pregaming before heading there . I like that they separated out the dance area and the seating area. It allows people to catch their breath and relax in the lounge area. Their women restrooms are also very clean and have a seating area. The music was great - not too loud, great playlist! You have to checkout this club if you are in downtown on a Friday or Saturday night! read more

Newer club in downtown SD. The entrance is actually on E street by the neon sign. The exit is on Fourth Street. It's a very well kept club with two different rooms. The first room you enter into has a cool photo opp behind glass like a magazine cover, and a standard DJ. There are sofas there to lounge in. The main room is good sized with the bar and main DJ stage. We came for the Dance Yourself Clean Indie Mix Night playing M83, Cannons, Rufus Du Sol, Tame Impala, Odesza, and more. It was a great set and this indie electronic party travels all around the US. The next one will be popping up in LA this Friday. read more

The club itself is cool, mostly just speaking esthetically. It's clean, looks cool, nice bathrooms, but oh my God THE SOUND?! AWFUL. The main room where the "headliners" play has zero bass. ZERO. It sounds like you're listening to the music through your cell phone. I will never go back unless I hear that they invested in good sound. Why on earth do they bring on so many heavy bass dj's with THAT sound?? If I were a dj playing there, I'd be PISSED. It literally makes no sense. Just a huge disappointment. If you are a fan of heavy bass, big drops where you feel it in your whole body, DO NOT GO here. I've gone there 3 times, each time being so excited to see the specifics who was playing that night and each time I have left in the middle of the set. It's such a let down . Bloom is a fantastic bar/club to dance the night away! It's very spacious, with two rooms to experience different DJs. We went on a Saturday night, and it wasn't crowded at all. I'm not sure if they have cover fees, but we arrived around 11 PM and weren't charged. The music featured EDM and hip-hop, but it was weird that they played Zedd back-to-back. The venue itself seemed clean. They had seats for bottle service, but if no one reserved them, it seems like it's a free space for folks to sit around and lounge (at least that's what happened with us). Overall, I had a fun time. The drinks were okay. This is a new nightclub in the area, so there may be some underwhelming incidents, like a mediocre DJ, but nonetheless, it was not disappointing, at most. read more

This is hands down the best club I've been to, and I chose it to celebrate my birthday. The lights are set up just right--not too much, but enough to give it that upscale nightclub vibe without feeling too pretentious. The dance floor can get a little crowded, but honestly, I've never heard anyone complain about it being too small. Dani at the bar was super friendly, even though I probably talked a bit too much. I tried to tip her for being so cool, but she insisted that a review would suffice. I managed to get her to take the tip, though. Michael, the guy working near the bathroom, was awesome too. Usually I think this is a sweet spot for upcoming DJs coming up on their career however one security guard in particular (Caucasian blonde dude) made it super uncomfortable the moment we got there. Luca Lush was DJ'ing that night it was about 11:20pm and worse that it was my Birthday. We got past the gentleman who allowed us through. Purchased the tickets and proceeded to get patted down like any other club. First words out of his mouth were "Open up your Sh**" mind you I only had a small over the chest pouch. Lucky for him I wasn't going to cause a scene but I do wish I captured his name to complain to whoever the manager was. I'm heavily hospitality based and that is not the way to welcome a guest coming into your establishment. I hope management would do better and wouldn't allow these Jerks to be doormen/Guards It set off the wrong mood for my night. I have one show left to go to for this Venue and will probably be my last unfortunately. read more

Bought tickets to see Yung Bae. The ticket said he would show up at 10 pm. Nope, he shows up at midnight. Okay, sure, misleading as hell, guess I'll hammer myself while I wait. Nope, not serving for 30 minutes. Fine, I'll hit the floor. Until Yung Bae, it's just a bunch of remixed 80's with meh layering. Okay, 30 minutes, time for a drink. It's $21. FFS. They gave me one of their signature drinks as a suggestion, and it was just not good. It was the only one I'm getting. Then he showed up 20 minutes late. Music's alright, but the acoustics in here suck because it's so small, the music is deafening. I'm glad I bought earplugs. The disco ball not even spinning on the dance floor just cemented how much I was over the night. I write this review as I wait for my friends to wrap up on the floor. Bloom, Doom & Gloom Where do I begin? The place is way over staffed and way too rigid. They think they're South Beach--but the vibe they give off is more Secaucus (NJ). So bridge+tunnel. On arrival we were strong armed into paying more for VIP despite the fact we politely refused. Right off the bat, the door men & women had sour attitudes after we declined and directed us to another line. Going into the club, each of our crew were frisked as if we were going to jail. A female in our crew got particularly nasty treatment. They rifled through everyone's purses. Things trended downward from there. The bartenders all had bad attitudes. Imagine our surprise when we got bilked $17 for 2 soda waters from the tap. All drink charges are absurd with low quality liquor. We were there for a special DJ duo dance event. Unless you paid for their ridiculous Jersey Shore VIP upgrade you had nowhere to set your drink. Ours were taken several times half drank. Shame on them. We spent $300 to send the DJs an amazing floral bouquet with a bottle of rose and the club manager never gave it to them. We had to track it down at 230am and miraculously they found it. Super shady behaviour. After dancing we went to the "Lounge" area to catch our breath and laid back for a minute happily laughing. Two security guards swooped down on us acting like we were on drugs and threatened to throw us out. We told them we had been dancing and were just catching our breath. After a few more words, they gave up. This kind of attitude has no place in a club or hospitality venue. Rude+rigid staff, uptight bartenders and overly aggressive security sums up our experience. read more

I'm a regular of Insomniac's other club, Nova, and decided to try Bloom for the first time and I am not a fan. I tried it via guest list so showed up right at 10pm was in by 10:15 and it was a ghost town... which was expected. There's 2 DJs one in the lounge which definitely bleeds into the "main room". The VIP tables look like a joke and the DJ stage looks like a crib with plexiglass. The crowd was mixed but definitely quite a few weirdos. This guy walked up to my whole group and offered us "blow" several times because we moved because he was annoying. Not anything on the club with that just know it attracts a weird crowd. My real gripe is with the bar. I pay almost $8 for a normal size bottle of water. I usually tip $2 out of politeness because it's not the bartenders fault water is $8. Well this night it was a group of us and I bought water on 3 occasions. The second time I went to buy water I was only charged NINE cents... yes that's correct $0.09! So I said wow that's cool and tipped $4 and of course threw away my receipt. Checked my bank on Sunday and total charged was $0.09... well I rechecked my account today and my total was $11.54. Can't even try to dispute it because I didn't keep my receipt. I recommend reviewing your charges and keeping your receipts if you spend at the bar. read more

Let me start with this: this was the nicest club staff experience I've ever had. My friend got sick after too many drinks and the bartenders went into immediate action, providing me with a wet towel for her neck, water bottles, and security to escort to an elevator instead of having to take the stairs. They checked in so quickly and focused on the needs rather than usual staff who just wants to kick people out when they show signs of drunkness. Now about the club itself, We were able to come in at no cover charge and enjoyed the EDM powerhouse the DJ was giving. There are lots of lights and spots for cute pictures. The venue has a good amount of space and there was really no wait for drinks at any point. The restrooms were large and very clean. The only con I can think of was how warm it got inside. My friends and I made sure to stand directly underneath the air vents to cool off, but it definitely got hot in there. read more

On our first visit to bloom: Our Girls got groped, expired beer, rude staff, cramped stage. Bloom needs to figure out what it wants to be. First, the entry to the event was chaotic and unorganized. It was cold and raining and there was no covering provided to those in line. My GF was stuck waiting five minutes only for security to turn away a couple for having a vape. Everyone else was allowed in with vapes and cigarettes? If things aren't allowed, then be consistent with your policies. Another man was hassled and almost turned away for wearing an artist jersey. The staff clearly don't know their clientele as this sort of attire is expected and encouraged for a ticketed EDM show. It felt like the venue couldn't decide if it was an upscale club or an EDM concert venue. The female security guard used her UNGLOVED hands to grope my girlfriend's bare breast and buttocks. At no point did she explain what she was doing or apologize. Each female in our party, who arrived at different times in the night, experienced this same unacceptable and unhygienic treatment. You're putting your guests and your guards at risk by searching without proper PPE; You need to clearly communicate what you're going to do AND do so in a clean manner. I told the ladies checking tickets and they rolled their eyes, as if this was a common occurrence. We all know how grimy these parties get; Do better. We purchased beer at the bar ($14) and it was skunked; we checked and saw it had expired in December of last year! The bartender also gave us weak drinks mostly made of ice. We've paid less for more at a massive rave, and that's saying something. There was a smaller DJ setup in the main bar playing top 40 and club standards. This was a ticketed DNB event and the vibes were completely different. I could hear Daddy Yankee bleeding over into the main stage and that was not a pleasant experience. I don't mind that kind of music in the right context but there's a time and place, and Management needs to choose the vibe and stick to it. Every few moments we were being pushed, elbowed and shoved out of the way by staff. I was elbowed in the ribs by one particular staff member multiple times, and not a word of apology or excuse was heard. The last time it happened I asked him to apologize and he shot me a nervous glance and scurried away. It was difficult to enjoy the show when every moment someone around us was being dazzled by a flashlight or pushed out of the way to let a train of bottle service girls through. Elevated experiences shouldn't come at the cost of GA's fun (and I say this as someone who has gotten tables at events before). We were there to support an artist friend opening for REAPER and enjoy the music, we were not drunk and disorderly or causing trouble. We attend many Drum and Bass events and it was our first time at Bloom. As someone who attends most insomniac events it's clear to us that Bloom isn't up to their normal standards. Good A/V production and clean bathrooms can only get you so far. read more

Bro grabs my vape and sniffs it like a weed pen is something you can't bring into a SoCal venue. $30 cover to feel like I'm going to a high school dance, with the first room playing 2012's top 40 R&B songs, but with the curse words. Main stage plays mid house music that makes every guy in the crowd dance like Commander Shepard. WAY too much security at every corner cancels out the need to charge me $10 for a 12oz can of Modelo. Way too much logistics for a "club", where I'm standing shoulder to shoulder. Packed in like sardines in an obvious cash grab that did nothing but remind me of why I stopped going to high school pep rallies. read more

Let me tell you how our night went. We had planned to go to Onyx around the corner when a nice promoter spotted our bachelorette party and invited us to Bloom for no cover. We agreed and when we arrived, a second promoter gave us 3 options before going in: 1. $40 tip for a bottle of champagne, 2. $60 tip for a bottle of vodka, or 3. go in without a cover and have a good night in a new club. We chose option 2 of the vodka bottle, it was a no-brainer for a party of 7. We walked down the stairs and were welcomed into a private, boothed area with a gentleman who was watching the area. We were some of the first to arrive and the place was clean, spacious and the music was already loud. Once seated, our table was being prepped... for champagne? I asked if it was necessary to have champagne glasses for vodka. There was a moment of confusion and they scurried off to find our server. She came back, confused as well about our "vodka" but things ended up being sorted out. That should have been Red Flag 1. We had some drinks made by the ladies of the club then we were free to enjoy the dance floor. We had a great time although the music was pretty bland the entire evening, imagine *boots and cats* for a majority of the time. EDM to the most extreme and no change of style throughout the night. Service was nice throughout, people respected our space and we felt very safe. They have a fun photo-op, too. A full bottle of vodka and 2.5 hrs later.... we asked for the check to move onto the next spot. Remember our promised $60 bottle of vodka? Well we were shoved a bill of almost $90. Out of confusion, we paid and left to use the restroom before we headed out. But after processing things, we realized what had just happened. Was this a mistake? An added fee we didn't know? Too good to be true? Doesn't hurt to ask, right? Right. We asked at least 5 employees to speak to our specific server and, eventually the manager, to understand the bill. When we saw a lady who we had spoken to not 2 minutes earlier trying to connect with our server, she would legitimately avoid eye contact with us like we were invisible. Red Flag 2. We were getting the run-around. I knew there would be a catch. Well lucky for them, many of us were sober and patient so we waited... and waited. After probably 10-15 minutes, we finally got ahold of the manager and one employee followed with an updated bill and apologized profusely for the mix-up. She was very nice. We were frustrated in the moment, started venting about it inside the club and the employee who came with the manager mouthed, "F**k you" to one of the girls in the group. Not cool but, whatever, we rid ourselves of the snakes of the night. Or so we thought. We ended up attempting to go to Onyx, our original plan, afterwards and had yet ANOTHER promoter was skulking around Onyx asking us if we knew about Bloom. I conceded and said, 'yes,' we had just come from there. He asked for feedback, I just said the music could have been improved with more melodies. He thought it was important to correct me and say it wasn't typical for EDM to have lyrics. And then continue to actively debate me on the sidewalk. Bad form, dude. Don't attempt to correct a potential client just so you can feel superior. He was excused. Pros: good space, clean venue, fun photo-op inside, cheap bottle service? (if you're not scammed). Cons: marble floors in bathroom causing a HUGE slipping hazard, ladies watch your step, the music was not entertaining, see above. After our experience, I don't have any faith that these other reviews are valid. Moral of the story? Check your receipt before you leave. read more

I recently went to this nightclub for the first time and, unfortunately, it will also be my last. The security presence was completely over the top. it felt more like entering a prison than a place to enjoy a night out. You can't even go to the bathroom without feeling like you're being watched. It was incredibly uncomfortable and ruined the whole vibe. To make matters worse, at the end of the night I was quietly resting my head on my boyfriend's shoulder when a security guard approached and rudely told me I "had to keep my eyes open." I literally watched him walk over to say that... It felt extremely invasive and unnecessary. If you're looking for a fun, relaxed night out, this is definitely not the place. I came to enjoy myself, not to feel policed every second. Save your time and money. There are much better EDM venues out there! read more

If you're looking for a chic, fun, but a raging good time, then San Diego finally got the place. Bloom is a new night club that just opened at the previously legendary Bassmnt was located. I went there for the first time this past week, the place just makes you feel classy. The sound system is amazing and there are multiple rooms if you are feeling different vibe. I really like the lounge area which is very spacious for big group of your friends to chill. Of course I got into the mix of things in the main room. The stage is setup so you can have a great view of the featured artist anywhere you are located. None of that obstructed view or I'm in the "back of the club" feel. Beautiful club filled with beautiful people. You cant really go wrong with that. I highly suggest to stop by this place. read more

I cannot think of one good comment for this place. The poorly managed and chaotic entrance line leads you to a stop and frisk security check. The pat down was a bit too "intimate" especially since I was man in a kilt. Already feeling a bit violated by the "Men In Black" staff, I decided a drink might make me feel a bit less "dirty". I was wrong! I was assaulted again by their prices. Makes buying a $20 churro at Disneyland look like a bargain. Imagine being hugged by a porcupine and rolled in rubbing alcohol. That would be more friendly and welcoming than the staff. We came solely to see our favorite visiting DJs. The keystone of their act is interaction with the guest on the dance floor. You would have had an easier time while visiting your favorite convict behind glass. Bottom line, AVOID THIS PLACE, even if it is that last safe place during a zombie invasion. When they went from Bassmnt to Bloom, they upgraded the ventilation and AC and things were amazing. Now, (after insomniac), ventilation and AC are turned wayyyyyyy down if ON at all. It smells in there and is stuffy, almost akin to how Bassmnt was. are u trying to sabotage the place?? read more

The venue is broken up into different areas but without actual walls to block the noise between the main act, in this case Giuseppe Ottaviani and one of the house DJs. During moments when the come in the main act fell below a certain level you could hear the music from the area adjacent to the main floor. You could even tell GO was annoyed with the competing noise. I was at the front of the stage and could clearly hear the music from the adjoining bar and DJ. Other than that the venue was okay. I didn't have any drink because the line at the bar was too long so I can't comment on prices or quality. Staff were helpful and polite, even security staff were pleasant. There were a group of college kids that were obviously completely inebriated and probably on something more recreationally frowned upon, which I have no problem with, but were getting too load and physically obnoxious. They should have been asked to move or chill a bit by security but were not. (I managed to calm them down with a few not so subtle hints after being knocked around several times.) All in all not a great place to see a big EDM/Trance/Dance DJ and experience the event as it should be. read more

I have never enjoyed a table experience more! I've partied in SD, LA, Vegas, Miami, Ibiza, etc. and the bottle girl we got at Bloom was unmatched! Attentive, but not hovering. Made delicious drinks. Took great group photos of us. Also, the manager came to check on us, she was so nice and you can tell they care about their clientele. The club itself was clean with a cool underground ambiance, great sound, and big LED wall with a sick light show! 10/10 read more

Been here for a few shows now especially through the summer. The club is pretty cool - large space, cool mirrors, and underground-warehouse club vibe. The led lights around the venue are neat. Girls restroom is HUGE! Really great Only complaint is the sound system. Idk if it's the speaker distribution or if the sound isn't being distributed with the correct balance... there are pockets in the crowd where the sound is so intense, in a bad way. And other pockets where it's not soo loud. I had to remember to bring earplugs after a few visits to this club. Which is not something I usually bring with me. And even with them, there were places I just couldn't stand because it was too loud. I thought it was just my problem but the last time I was there for Droeloe, I saw many people dancing with their hands over their ears. Will probably still go back, but I hope this message gets to the owners to fix the sound! Also love the DJs that y'all have been booking. Just don't want to worry about my ears all night! read more
