I've been seeing Dr. Larson for a year now. As an adult getting braces for the second time, I researched on yelp, Dr. Oogle and saw two other orthodonitists before going with Dr. Larson, and am very happy I did! People in this office are awesome...especially Jose. Jose has had braces himself (as an adult!) and is great at empathy. He's frankly the most considerate and compassionate tech / orthodontic assistant / dental / medical assistant-type (I'm honestly not sure what his title is.) I've ever had---and I've had plenty. Jose remembers that the back ends of my wires tend to poke me, so he makes a point every time to bend them in without me reminding him. He researches the color of rubberbands so food stains would be the least noticeable. (Smoky pearl, fyi). He anticipates your pain and warns you in advance to eat now, and to take Tylenol. He's approachable, the one with time for your questions. I like Dr. Larson too---he's very good at explaining things---but Jose is the guy you will see the most of. I had braces previously, in my pre-teen years. Back then, we drove 45 minutes out of the way, to go with some guy on my mom's dental plan. I don't remember liking him at all. My parents English isn't that great---so they don't really ask any questions, and I was taught to go more with the flow back then too. Comparing Dr. Larson to my pre-teenage braces experience, honestly makes me wonder if I got some quack back then. It's scary how the quacks are still out there---the one orthodontist on my insurance plan really did not try understand my predicament, and was just trying to push braces on me. He didn't even try to answer my questions, and just brushed them off. I went off insurance and paid out of pocket for Dr. Larson, and am glad I did. read more

Dr. Larson is great! He was recommended to me by my dentist 10 years ago. My crooked front-bottom teeth had always bothered me; but, the fact that I was getting married in a few months gave me the incentive to find out if anything could be done. I was very pleasantly surprised when Dr. Larson said that my teeth could be straightened with a removable retainer. After only a couple of months, my smile looked great for the wedding pictures! And, my teeth are still perfectly straight today. I returned to Dr. Larson last year. With my teeth nice and straight, I thought I'd look into my less noticeable (but annoying to me) cross-bite. Again, Dr. Larson discussed the options, answered my many questions, and patiently explained the pros and cons so that together we could decide on the best solution (braces for my top teeth this time). He mounted the braces taking into consideration the way that I smile so that they were barely noticeable. Dr. Larson is efficient (both of my treatments were completed within a year) while also being a perfectionist. Many times, I didn't even notice the small details that he found to correct. I always felt confident that he was taking the time to do things the right way while still getting me through the treatments as quickly as possible. I usually made my appointments in the morning before work. I never had to wait more than a few minutes. They got me in and out fast. Dr. Larson's office environment along with his friendly, cheerful, and professional staff make it a great place for kids of any age! read more

This was an alright experience overall but if I had to pick again I would go somewhere else. My braces took 6mo longer than the estimated time of treatment and there was no communication whatsoever about timeline. Appointments are at terrible times of day which was super inconvenient. I also had to wait for 20-30 minutes past the start time of every appointment. My teeth are pretty good now but my dentist isn't thrilled with the work that was done-she wishes my bite was more centered. She also hates how they use permanent retainers for the bottom teeth and called it super outdated. You can even see my teeth moving badly in x-rays due to this retainer. The communication between the reception is awful-I got my braces off right before a vacation and they said that was fine. After I got them removed they freaked out that I was leaving the next day and complained about having to rush my retainer. My teeth are a whole lot better but it was a frustrating 2 years and the work wasn't as good as it could be. The assistants who do the tightening as are great though! I'm still trying to get the stupid permanent retainer off but due to covid I understand that it's taking ages. read more

I've been a patient at Dr Larson's office for just over a year. Dr Larson was able to come up with Invisalign therapy that has worked remarkably to align my teeth without any extractions, which is what other orthodontists I consulted with previously proposed. Dr Larson is extremely intuitive and considerate about patient safety. There's a mix of adult and children patients at his clinic. Avoid this place at all cost! Why? 1. Horrible waiting time 30-45 minutes in lobby from time of appointment. They always run late so you end up sitting in a crowded office. After being seated, you still have to wait another 15-20 minutes prior to seeing the doctor 2. Doctor does not communicate well with parents, sarcastic, and easily get annoyed 3. Braces keep falling off and wires always sticking out 4. Very hard to schedule an afternoon appointment 5. Appointments must be scheduled in the morning? (how convenient!) 6. Treatment took wayyy longer than anticipated without proper explanation 7. Teeth look OKAY after treatment Looking back, I should have refused the referral from my dentist! I was a walk in patient when I tried Dr. Larson's clinic. Upon entering I was greeted by friendly and warm staff. Ms. Myla, the office manager made me feel like I am an old patient, she was very accommodating and very friendly. The office ambience is child friendly, well lighted and the equipments are up to date. Then I met Dr. Larson, who was very cheerful and professional. He explained to me the treatment plan, how long it would take. Dr. Larson listened to my questions and needs, making sure that we agreed on the plan, and making me understand how is it going to be. The price is very reasonable, and they would never leave you hanging even if the your treatment is over. I would definitely invite my family and friends to try and switch with Dr. Larson. All positive experience: my case was complicated and I had braces & other stuff for 2.5 years. I'm very glad that I chose Larson Orthodontics as my orthodontist. Got a discount for paying full amount upfront and, despite contract said 18-24 months, they hasn't requested any additional payments. Scheduling an appointment was sometimes difficult in a desired timeframe but that's understandable given the popularity of this place. I've seen many happy patients inside over the years. I only wish that they were close to East Bay because driving there from Fremont in the morning in crazy. read more

When my dentist referred me to Dr. Larson, and told me that Dr. Larson took care of his family's orthodontic needs, that sold me. Very happy to say that Dr. Larson has taken excellent care of me, too! My treatment involved invisalign and a limited set of traditional braces for one stubborn tooth (bicuspid, I think). Friendly staff always with nice, bright smiles; one of the dental techs had his teeth straightened by Dr. Larson and he's got a great smile. I had my invisalign done at Dr Larson's place 5 years ago. At the time, I felt that Dr Larson wasn't too strict or too perfectionist about the adjustment. At the end of the treatment (2 years), my teeth wasn't that great. However, the worst part was that I was not informed about the need to wear my retainer for a long time after the treatment. When my retainer broke, I just tossed it away, thinking that mine was completed. They should call all their patients 2 months after the the end of the treatment, reminding them about the retainer and possibly offering resources to replace old retainers. Anyway, I went back to them a few weeks ago, stating that I did the treatment 5 years ago and I may need additional adjustment. Instead of taking care of their existing patients, the office went ahead and planned to charge me full price ($7500) for the entire treatment. They said that if it takes more than 10 sets of liners, I will have to pay for the full price. Eek, I didn't expect that, after I already spent $7000 with them 5 years ago! read more

After moving to the bay area from San Diego I found myself needing a new Hawley retainer. My retainer broke and was in need of a new retainer immediately. After visiting some Dental offices I didn't feel as I was getting the best care until I visited Dr. Larson. He was so easy going and knowledgeable. He made me a new retainer and I'm so pleased and so relieved. He is a godsend and I thank you so much for exceeding my expectations and helping me retain my beautiful teeth and smile. My daughters have been going to Dr. Larson for almost a year, and so far-we are very pleased with his work! The staff is amazing,always accommodating my children's appointments with a time that works for me (work schedule), they are attentive and caring. Here recently though, I was interested on getting an implant done for a tooth that has been missing since 2003. I saw a specialist that my dentist referred me to and he wanted to do Invisalign for a YEAR to make space for the implant. I couldn't believe that I would have to do Invisalign just to create a larger space for the implant to fit. I have good straight teeth, never wore braces; so this was a complete shock! I called Dr. Larsons office on a Monday and Wilma(she knows me by name, I call so much..lol) was able to get me a consult with Myla same day. I explained my situation to Myla and Dr. Larson, and the best news he gave was he creates space for implants all the time! No Invisalign needed!! So happy to have him and his awesome office!! Doctor Larson and his sub par orthodontic work has had lasting repercussions on my mouth for over 8 years now. From 2003 to 2005 I had the standard two year braces plan with Larson. Two years after getting my braces off (I got them off in 8th grade) my dentist noticed that my bite was completely off. I had been mentioning that my jaw was popping constantly and was very uncomfortable and sore. I was then sent back to Larson so that he could fix my bite, that he had initially messed up (my upper and lowers were hitting each other, instead of having a slight overbite so the front teeth do not hit). Not only did he protest to fixing my bite for free (as it was his fault in the first pace), he treated me very poorly throughout my second round of treatment. It is now 4 years later (all the while wearing all of my retainers every night as instructed) and I have a recession on my front tooth. At first my dentist thought it was my doing, but I then met with a periodontist who explained that my orthodontist (Larson) had not set my teeth properly. Instead of moving all of my teeth in line (the roots to the tips) he simply tipped my lower front tooth back so it would appear to be in line with the others. What this causes is the root of that tooth to be significantly farther forward than the others, thus causing a strain on my gumline for that particular tooth, thus the recession that I am now dealing with. I will now have to get braces on for the third time in my life. I will not repeat the past again. I am frustrated and saddened that I have to go through this again, all because Larson was inattentive and poor at his craft. read more
