Cavalier attitude to customers. As a long term customer and wine club member with Bliss for over 5 years I was extremely disappointed with the service received on our most recent visit. We were there with friends and I had a bottle of wine that we had not yet picked up from the wine club. I asked if we could start with that bottle but was callously told that he couldn't make money on that. I fail to see his logic when that bottle was already purchased through his wine club. There are too many other alternatives where customer loyalty is appreciated. This will be our Last visit to Bliss!!! read more

Stopped in on a Wine and Paint Night, which is a great way to drink and meet people. The owner was friendly, he went out of his way to find the perfect drink for me. There is a wonderful collection of wines, beer and cocktails. Ambiance Lounge area, Live Music Nights and perfect venue to host an event. Highly recommend Bliss Wine Bar perfect for a date night, girls' night out or friends get together! Sam behind the bar was great as the bar filled up. read more

Never disappoints. Great wines lots of fun events from music to trivia to comedy night. Nice to have a wine bar in our little town !

We were excited to visit and loved the concept and ambience, but the service fell short of expectations. With so many choices, no direction in which wines to try. Disappointed to say the least as we love our wine. read more

Good wine selection! Was excited to support a small business. However, the male bartender/owner was a huge turn off. He was much too talkative and I barely got an opportunity to catch up with a friend. Haven't been back in a couple of years. If you're not up for the chat, I'd recommend you make your wine purchase and head out. read more

Staff was extremely bubbly and accommodating. Espresso martini was great and I've ordered an espresso martini at many different restaurants! read more

The venue was very nice, music fantastic, however, the owner/bartender left a lot to be desired. He was creepy, acted like it was an effort to fill your order when you ordered a drink. He was not a really nice person, if he doesn't like the job, get the hell from behind the bar. Not the place for this individual. Otherwise, minus the bartender we had a great evening. I am from Florida and not used to treatment from a bartender or owner for that matter, like that read more

Went on wine tasting night and was not disappointed. Cozy little spot with good live music

I co-hosted a bridal shower at Bliss Wine Lounge and it was fantastic start to finish. Alex the owner was so easy to work with and made sure everything was as promised and exactly what we envisioned. The event space was perfect. So many people commented on what a cute space it was and how much they enjoyed the event. read more

Incredible atmosphere! This is a perfect place to come lounge and enjoy some drinks or light food with friends. There is plenty of wine selection and the staff are all knowledgeable and happy to give plenty of tastings/advice to help you choose the right wine. There is live music on the weekends and the artists bring a great energy and crowd. The owner is friendly and hospitable. I will definitely be back! read more

Bliss Wine Lounge is a great spot in Wauconda. There are some really good wines but the best part is how warm and comfortable the place is to enjoy a glass with your friends and talk. During nights where there is a live band the place can get packed. If you're like my wife and I, who love a 4pm glass before dinner you get a chance to really chill out and connect with the local friends. My wife and I are generally there every week. read more

We went to Bliss for the music. I have to say the experience was less than par! To start off we all went up for drinks and I asked the bartender what all was with the Espresso Flight! He said an espresso, a chocolate martini and whatever I come up with, something caramel! Being that I am a bartender and like creating fun Martinis I gave it a whirl! Absolutely the worst flight ever! The Espresso martinI was ok but the other 2 were gross! My friend ordered a win and the bottle was almost empty and he brings out this small 2X4 and puts it up to the glass smacks the 2X4 down and says It's good enough! Excuse me what! Then later a couple came in and he poured their wine and they received double what my friend did with her glass of wine! I watched the bartender drink every extra amount of booze that was left over after mixing cocktails, he became messy! Apparently this is a dry bar, as he walked to the back room to mix most of his cocktails which was kind of weird! He also made appetizers for people and he was a one man show and I saw the back room and it was messy! I don't think I would order food there as the back room alone was sketchy! We decided to give it a whirl for a 2nd drink because the music is what we were there for and we tried a Len drop martini! Not great! Just so you know a Lemon drop martini should not have lemonade in it! I was basically drinking a Vodka lemonde! The final kicker for me was a customer saw him bring out food and made a comment that you do it all and the bartender says Well I am the owner! WHAT? Are you flippin kidding me? Then I hear out of his mouth when serving someone that he Doest give a fuck! Great attitude for a owner of a bar, if you call that! So if you like wine only, this may be a place for you. I don't think the prices are that great for the quality you receive. If you are a local I can see why you like this place because they have live music but other than that this is a place I wont be coming back to as I was in total shock that a place like this that has a ton of potential is run this way! read more

Attended a private event and the space was beautiful and really compliments any decor style. Alex was very attentive and personable. Highly recommend for your next event or night out. read more

Wow! New owners, exceptional great wines to try! Generous pours at very reasonable prices. A fun tasting menu of food to enjoy with the wine and also some good beers. We were there on Friday night with live entertainment (Dan Peters), that had the bar rocking and so entertaining. The new owners are exceptional nice and care about you having a great time! I also joined their wine club as Alex (owner), has an exceptional palate for fun interesting wines at great value! You can also buy wines that you are tasting for reasonable retail rates. Hurry over to Bliss wine bar for a fun time and say hello to Alex. We will be stopping in often to enjoy fun drinks and entertainment on the weekend. read more

I was looking forward to a night out with friends at Bliss. The pros--meeting my friends and a decent glass of wine The cons--no food service, music too loud and I witnessed a totally unprofessional bordering on very creepy exchange between the bartender/owner and a female customer. read more

Bliss is a hole in the wall wine bar in Wauconda. I've been coming here for a few years and the only reason I gave them a 4 instead of a 5 is because their sparkling wine by the glass could be improved. However, I love going here to listen to music on Saturdays and crowd is generally very friendly. read more

I believe that one of the reasons Wauconda is our destination from North Barrington versus the Lake Zurich/Deer Park area is because of Bliss Wine & Gifts. I am amazed at the sense of community at Bliss with Bulldogs and Franks Karma Cafe- all on Main Street. Bliss is a great place to wine taste and have lunch. You can order from Bulldogs or Franks and eat it there with a glass of wine or microbrew. I really like how the wines have a great price point, but are delicious. read more

The Review in 2: SHEER BLISS! A great addition to the Northwest Burbs for those who enjoy exploring the expansive world of wines one sip at a time. Bliss is a treat! Drove by the newly opened store, and were charmed our first visit by the tasteful and comfortable decor, the array of clever wine-related gifts on display, and in particular the great selection of wines available for tasting and for sale at good prices. Free tastings of selected wines are offered daily (Tues - Sat), and wines are also available by the glass or half-glass to enjoy at their tasting bar, or at one of their tables with a nice slice of view overlooking Bangs Lake. The staff is friendly and well-informed on the wines they pour, making a visit to Bliss a treat! Highly recommended. See you at Bliss! read more

Went there for brunch and mimosas. Great vibe. The staff and even the other customers were fun to talk to

Friendly place to catch up with friends, sip on some wine, enjoy a beer, perhaps try something new. Warm & inviting atmosphere. Grab a bottle or 3 to take home, too! Orrr.... Got a party to attend this weekend? Maybe a dinner with friends? A housewarming party? Perhaps a bridal shower? and OOPS! you completely forgot to grab a little gift? No worries! Stop and grab a bottle of wine and maybe a little gift to go along with it. One stop shop for all things wine + ! read more

If you like wine, this charming little place is a good, cozy spot to go. I'm just not a wine person, so....it's hard for me to appreciate their offerings. Food, when they cooperate with local restaurants in town is good and a clever way to support others in the town. read more

We love Bliss! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the owners as well as staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They frequently have events including a monthly wine and cheese pairing night. They also offer a wine club so it's a great way to try new wines at a good price. It's a little gift to yourself every month! read more

Bliss Wine Lounge - a plate of desserts and a glass of wine - Wine Bars Near Me - Wauconda, Illinois

Great place! I've had great service, cozy atmosphere, live music, the chance to try some different wines. Have to try Bliss if not even to hang out there while you wait for a table at a neighboring restaurant. A nice feature too is if you just like hanging out there and get hungry, but don't want to brave the elements, you can go up to the bar and they can show you a menu and place an order for you from Bulldogs across the street. Bulldogs then will run your food over to you and you never even have to lose your seat! They have a lot of great music that is usually just great background music like guitar players and smaller bands. Its fun to just hang out and listen to some great easy music. This is definitely one of the Wauconda "hot spots"! read more

Very cozy and welcoming little wine bar. The owner was pretty knowledgable and friendly. Loved the ambience. For a place in Illinois, this place was top notch. Nice for a relaxed afternoon or evening out with friends. Able to taste wines from all over the world- most are quite interesting. Not your run of the mill wine bar in terms of the variety of wines offered. You can also get small appetizers to munch on while you try the wines. My favorite was a cool, crisp Resiling from Australia- surprisingly enough. read more

Great place to hang out on a Friday night with the live music. Cons: lack of space and tables. Also because of it being a small space, if you are sitting at one of the first few tables, the music is way too loud and you have to shout to have a conversation with the people you're with. They do have a very small menu with a few appetizer items you can order, but they're a little pricey for the quantity. We got the spinach artichoke dip and it wasn't even warm - and served with just five small pieces of crostini. We had to go to the bar and ask for more. Wine prices are also expensive - $4 - $5 for what they call a half-pour, which is basically a few sips. read more

I have been a "regular" at Bliss from the beginnng - a great place to relax, try some new wines, and sometimes listen to a great musician. The selection is amazing, for both wine, and micro brews ! Always a good time, always run into friendly people...it's worth the drive to Wauconda... read more

I think Bliss was made especially for people like my wife and I. She loves wine, and I'm a craft beer junkie, so naturally we loved our experience here. They have some great beers available, and of course, a ton of wine. We did find ourselves wishing there was a bit more seating (to be fair, it was a busy Friday night), but we did notice that if you're at a table, it doesn't look like they leave the bar to check on you or see if you want anything else to drink. We'll come back often, for sure, and noticed that they have several nearby restaurants where you can order food and they'll let you have it delivered there. read more

It took me way too long to discover this gem that's right in my backyard, and now I'm making up for lost time. This has truly become a home away from home. There is such a good vibe when you walk in, a great variety of delicious and affordable wines, good appetizers, and great live music. I love what the new owner has done to create a welcoming atmosphere and deliver a consistently good experience. I've brought a number of new folks here and would continue to spread the word, but selfishly, I kinda want to keep it a secret. Oh, and if you're a beer person - which I'm not - there are weekly beer tastings, too. A little something for everyone. read more

A cozy gem in downtown Wauconda that is a perfect place for wine lovers. The owners and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Bliss is the best thing to happen to Wauconda, if you ask me. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the wine selection is second to none. Not the biggest selection, but definitely the best if you like to try new and different wines that are reasonably priced! read more

So happy I stopped in here on my way home from work! Love the inside. Cozy.. inviting. Nicely decorated. Very reasonably priced and all the wine I tasted was delicious. I ended up taking home a bottle of Cabernet because that is my favorite. Jeff helped me and he was very friendly and informative about the wine I was tasting. No charge for tasting and they give half glass pours and full glass for reasonable price. I will definitely be back!! read more

I really like this shop. I wanted to buy a bottle (or two) of wine for a friend of mine and went in with only knowing that she liked sweet whites. I was promptly greeted and assisted by a woman behind the bar(?) who showed me about 5 different wines and let me sample a few before I made my decision. She knew her stuff too and my friend ended up loving the wine that I purchased for her. I'm definitely a repeat customer! read more

We stop in often. I meet my girlfriends for a quick tasting and take a couple of bottles to go. It's very small town so we run into people we know during almost every visit. Maria is very knowledgeable and quick to recognize what your favorite taste is and offers options for your pallette. Scott started bringing in some great craft beers (which is awesome for my husband since he's not a wine guy). The mood changes often, some days they feature a local band for some great fun, some days they have a harpist for a more classic ambience. Either way, it's a great time. I've been lucky enough to experience a private party which was wayyyyy fun-maybe too fun! Love the fact that you can grab a cheese plate or other snack while you're sipping and chatting. Great asset to Wauconda and neighboring suburbs! read more
