Hair - Jen G. is superb! Loving your hair isn't always easy, but I love it since I've been going to her. She's the best! Nails - Sara B. is my girl! She does a great job every time. Massage - Lisa T. I love this woman! I've had a few massages in my time, but I will never go to anyone else now. She "reads" my body so well and always gives me what I need to feel better. These guys are all great - I love their personalities - and they keep me coming back. Prices are reasonable for what you get - if you want cheap, go to Great Clips - and I am always greeted w/ the utmost courtesy and friendliness. I feel very lucky that my favorite salon is so close to my new home in Elk River. Keep up the great work, Avalon!

Went in for a last-minute appointment scheduled for 10 AM. all that I wanted was a trim on my ends…read moreand my bangs.... just a touch up. I was going to be taking the place of a client who had last-minute canceled on a stylist named Heidi. The consultation time with her was very short. She asked very minimal questions, but I was told by the lady at the front desk that she was "very good" so I trusted her. However, I was wrong to do so. The overall experience at the salon was pretty pleasant. She made good conversation with me and I was provided with water. I walked out of the salon pretty happy with my results. I thought that my bangs were a little bit short, but I didn't mind that much since that happens almost every time I go in to get a touch up knot my bangs. mind u i barely have bangs they are basically long curtain bangs that i like to have because i wear my hair up a lot and i like the look. anyway, day goes by I have a headband in because I was doing chores all day. I come home take my headband off and am shocked. I was left with choppy, uneven, way too short bangs. I am not sure how she was able to style them so I couldn't tell when I left the salon, but it's safe to say I will be stuck wearing that very same headband until these grow out to a reasonable length so that I can fix them and they won't be too short. Safe to say this is one of the worst touchups I have ever had and that I will forever be scared to go back into any salon and ask them to touch my bangs ever again. I'm sad to leave, I don't like doing this. This place was recommended by my mom, she saw a different stylist who wasn't available this day , not sure if it would've been a better decision to wait the next day she would be in work or if I should've never came into the salon at all. I was hoping this would be a much better experience, considering their prices are very reasonable and it was a pretty quick cut. But sadly, I have learned my lesson and will probably stick to cutting my own hair despite being FAR from a professional.

The services were performed by her and I couldn't be happier. She was very friendly and did not seem put off at all to have me back in. I'm upgrading my review because I truly believe that this is a fantastic salon with great staff. While my first experience may have been less than stellar, I do feel that my comments were understood and greatly valued and for that I will certainly be returning to this salon for more services. Original Review: I feel terrible for saying this, but this was the worst mani/pedi I've ever received. If you're looking for some great nail cleanup such as cuticle/hangnail/dead skin trimming and/or amazing foot filing/scrubbing, I can't recommend this place. The girl who did the services was very personable and I liked her very much (which is why you see 3 stars), but her skills do not compare to the place down the street next to Casey's. For the money, I'm disappointed. I could have done what she did and better. I think the photos will help you see what I mean. I chose to treat myself and evidently this was not the place to do it. I sat in the salon for a half an hour flailing my hands through the air to get them to dry to a point I could roll my pant legs down and perhaps get in my car. On the bright side, the salon was very clean, though half the lightbulbs were out. Unfortunately, I won't be going back for the same services.

I am a client of Tina Schilling. @distinctivehairdesignbytina…read more She joined RK Salon in June but has been a hair stylist for years. She's always trying to stay up to date in trends. Finding someone who knows their way around curls (cutting and coloring curl clumps) is rare and she is fantastic. She gives a great scalp massage during your shampoo which is...WOW! RK Salon is modern and minimalist. Clean sight lines and sparkly chandeliers. All the ladies I encountered where friendly. As I sat to process my color, one who wasn't Tina even checked to see if I needed anything...like a free beverage. I noticed during my visit that there were a few young men (~17-25) coming in for trims. Also young kids too (one mom waited outside, one waited next to the chair). Usually I just see other women so this speaks that the business attracts men and families. I am reviewing during COVID 19. All staff and clients were in masks the entire time. I witness cleaning/ disinfection procedures after I switched between my 3 stations (styling, heater and washing chairs).
