I called at 12p and was greeted nicely over the phone. I let them know I was coming at 5 pm which is right after my daughter got out of school. Soon as I got In I seen at least 6 kids waiting and I was greeted and checked in at the front desk. The stylist was finishing up a child's hair and I was called next. I'm glad they were so prompt with the list. At their competitors salon "Childs Play" I have been treated rudely and the girls talk about the parents when there not there and they look annoyed with kids who don't always cooperate making the child's experience even worst in my opinion. My daughter was treated with care and they tried really hard to not get water on her face because she's afraid. They spoke softly to her and were very patient. They braid really fast and very neat I loved my experience here and will be coming often. read more

Meant to post this review in April! Two stars for the style, which was dope! Zero stars for the red scalp and exposes follicles. This hairstyle was way too damb tight! Since she was with her dad I don't know who the stylist was, but she does not know how to braid the soft heads of children. I was looking for another salon for my daughters because the last was very unprofessional (terrible with timing) and not as kid friendly as I would like. So, I went to yelp and found Bliss Kids. My youngest is really tender headed and always cries when getting her hair done. I must say that she didn't cry at all in Bliss Kids. They are really child friendly. I like the atmosphere - very clean and well put together. The business does not go by appointment, which is understandable when dealing with kids as all situations are different - difficult kids, braided dos that take longer than others, I get it. You have to write your kids name down when you get in or you can call ahead to add your name to the list if you're coming in later. The staff works pretty fast and the price is reasonable. My daughter's first salon experience. Hair came out amazing . Stylist was very quick and friendly. I signed my child's name on the list in the morning by 10am as it goes by a first come first serve basis. I was called about a 30-40 mins before it was our turn . This process works so you can continue with ur day instead of just sitting endlessly in the salon. They also wash and blow dry your child's hair at your request prior to braiding. All staff seemed very nice and attentive. Atmosphere is kid friendly. I would definitely come again . Prices are very reasonable. All the kids leave satisfied and looking super cute! I love this place. I have been here twice with my daughter and have been very satisfied with the service and their work. They are very good with keeping their schedule. I called at 12:30p to have my daughter added to the list and to her we would arrive between 5:30 and 6p. When we arrived she took her right away. Her hair was washed and braided and we left about 8:15p. They ladies are very fast and they do awesome work. The prices are also very reasonable. I would suggest that you call or arrive very early to have your child's name added to the list because they can get very crowded. I was on a hunt for a kids stylist to cater to my daughter needs.i used Google and realize it was near by so I gave it a try. They opened at 12 and I made a appointment at 1230 (they call u when your spot is up close) i had a whole bunch of people of ahead of me. I decided to call them instead by 330 and they suggested i come in. My daughter didn't get her hair done til 530. This would of been a 5 star if I didn't have to wait 2hrs after they told me to come in. BUT SHEESH IT WAS 2HRS WORTH THE WAIT. My daughter lovesssssss her hair. They have very reasonable prices and they wash and conditioned her hair. Everyone is very attentive, dressed in all black , answers any questions or concern and speaks with manners. They do great hair and its reasonable for the children. But they have bad business ethic. You get there at 12, when they open You put your child's name on the list and your #3. You get to the shop cause there's 3 braider's so your child should be first up. NOT SO! You get there 6 kids getting there hair braided and they haven't called you. How, I'm #3! I've been going here for over 4/5 years. They just recently moved their location. Candace is a sweetheart, Vanessa is too but the owner is all about money to me... an I hate that she brings her daughter during the business hours... it's not fair to paying customers especially when there's only two girls braiding an it takes them sometime to braid. As far as their braiding goes great job ladies! though Vanessa forgets herself sometimes and can braid tight. Just remind her, because she's great! Now I hate that we can't schedule appointments in advance because it get frustrating standing or sitting in your car waiting for a child's establishment to open, just to get a spot, and sometimes their booked so you just wasted time. The prices also definitely went up ridiculously it's like the African salon. They do wash and give the kids a deep treatment if you want. Seating is limited and they do have WiFi. Also this is for the parents with children who hate to wash or braid their hair. It's not fair you drop your kids off leave them to cry and become difficult. Candace and Vanessa are left to struggle with them while time is ticking for the next client. Either wash your kids hair or stay put with your child(ren)! I have been to Bliss Kids for about 2 years. The service is very professional there. My 10-y-old kid always has a great experience. The stylists speak softly, especially the one closest to the desk. After going to this salon 2 days in a row without being able to get my son's head done due to this being a very popular/busy kids salon i arrived here at 7:00am on the 3rd day hoping for better results. When i got there only 1 other customer had already arrived before me so basically i was the 2nd person there to be served. After waiting there for 3hours till they opened at 10am. The owner or whoever it was (named candice) that opened the doors let the 1 customer ahead of me come in and sign about 5 different people names in the book who weren't even there at the moment bringing me down to the 6th person to be served. They seemed to have a good relationship with one another but that is not the way business should be conducted it's first come first serve right? The entire atmosphere is "Child friendly." The staff are professional, welcoming and interact well with the children. The salon was clean and clearly being maintained well. The only reason they earned a star..was because the styles they created were indeed gorgeous. However ...they do not take the time to properly sterlize their hair tools..and your child will end up with ring worms and hair loss. So it's not worth it all all. After my experiences with Child's Play on Nostrand Avenue Bklyn. I am happy to say I've found a children hair salon that is just that...a child's salon. Where inappropriate language does not exist. Where the customer is treated with respect. And most of all the children experience true customer service. The stylist all wear a black uniform. They are not speaking their personal business on their cell phones. Each child gets their hair washed and conditioned as part of the cost. The cost is moderate based on hair style. I called when they opened to register my daughter and came over after picking her up from school. Everyone...the 4 stylist had clients. The owner told me my daughter will wait for 1 1/2hr and mentioned we should probably grab a bite to eat if we haven't. We did just that. By the time we got back. She got in the chair. Must say so far so good. I will be back and refer as many as possible. I love it when small business are doing what they need to in order to get to the next level. read more

I usually go to Destiny Kids on Nostrand Avenue but they are moving to another location so I found Bliss and it was just as good!! The salon does not take appointments. Instead, customers sign into a book and leave their child's name and parent's telephone number. If the wait will be especially long, the salon allows you to leave and then calls you when they are ready to take your child. The system works sometimes, but has not worked well as of late since the opening times are variable, the staff takes sign-ins by phone, and the staff sometimes loses track of the list (!). If you can handle the long waits during peak periods (since it is not an appointment-based system), then this salon can work well for you. read more

I called this salon back in September and asked if I could make an appointment. I was told that they did not accept appointments, you had to come in and put your name on the list. I showed up an hour before opening and the line was extremely long, at least 25 to 30 people. Once the door opened people just rushed to it, no organization. While standing on line people were saying that the best time to go was during the week, most kids are in after school or have programs. Now today is Monday, October 17 , 2017. I took off of work so I could pull my daughter out of school early. I get to the salon @ 2:30pm. There are 3 stylist and all 3 have a client. No one else is in the shop waiting. I'm told there are 6 people in front on me. How? People call and put themselves on the list. Wait, isn't that almost like having an appointment? It's currently 8:09pm and my daughter still hasn't gotten in the chair to start her hair. If tomorrow wasn't picture day I would have left a long time ago. Had the process been explained properly I would have planned and been prepared. They get two stars because every kid leaving has gorgeous hair. read more

I showed up to the salon at about 9:30 am. The salon was not suppose to open until ten but as I arrived the salon was already packed, so I waited my turn and signed the book my child ended up number 20 on the list! I was told by the owner that they would call us. We left . Called at 6pm was told she still had five people a head of us called back at 9 pm was told she is next and would be called when she was almost finished with the person. At 12 am, after not receiving a phone call, I drove over to the shop and inside were four children, three in chair getting their hair done and one waiting. I was told I am next . At 2:16 in the morning is when my child hair was started on. My question is if we signed the list at 9 something in the morning how is it that my daughter was not in the chair until 2 in the morning the next day and the last one to leave the shop? Moreover, when I looked at the list everybody underneath her name was crossed off and I was told that these people had cancelled or did not show up. Make it make sense to me because right now it does not. My daughter complained that the lady was braiding her hair too tight and was being mean to her. I feel that the lady took out the frustration of my questioning on my daughter, which to me was not fair. Nevertheless I paid my bill and gave a gratuity and informed my child that we would not be coming back. I looked over the reviews and found most were from years ago only one was recent and very true to my experience! I feel just because you have a nice clientele does not mean you get to treat people wrong! It means you feel comfortable when majority like what you do, so you no longer sweat the small things !
