Turning 41 I felt the need to act 21 and wanted to bleach the underside of my hair and dye it a purplish color plus cover up some grey. Layla didn't disappoint. Her drive for perfect creations resulted in what I wanted my hair to look like...awesome! Using the color rejuvenating conditioner plus some salon products didn't keep my color long though I only wash 2's a week. The ends on my hair that were bleached are now EXTREMELY dry and yarn feeling and no coconut oil or $25 professional leave in masks can fix. I do not blame Layla or her technique, just a warning for anyone wanting to bleach their hair at ANY salon. I will use Layla again for future hair cut and colors.

I've been getting my hair done by Amy for a couple years now, and I REFUSE to go to anyone else…read more When I had heard she moved from her business in Bellaire to Sugarland, I said say less cause ain't no mountain high or ain't no valley low for me to schedule an appointment with Amy. She is a national treasure and works absolute wonders! She is very meticulous with her craft so expect for a color and cut to be at least 4-5 hours long, but imo it's WORTH it. The care and patience Amy has reflects in her work, and I hope you can see it clearly in the photos where she's mentioned. I literally only go to see her yearly (if that) because that's how good her work is! It's always very natural looking, but you can tell there's been work done if that makes sense. Amy is also so approachable and open, and you can clearly see how much she loves what she does. Just book your next appointment here! You and your hair will thank me later for it!

The Funky Hue is a true hidden gem! I highly recommend this…read moresalon!! The owner, Bea is 100% professional and 100% down to earth (read = not pretentious!!) Bea has been doing hair for over 35 years and she's an absolutely wonderful human. She could easily charge triple for her services but she makes sure her prices are accessible. She's overqualified in almost every area of hair. She's great at recognizing the client's needs and she guides her clients to find the right style or hair treatment for them. Note: If she recommends any products for your hair, I'd listen! She doesn't waste time trying to sell you products you don't need. She's a master of her craft and someone I would feel 100% comfortable tell to "just do something different" with my hair. On a personal note: I love how Bea gives back to the community- I've been to her salon many times and she's doing a coat drive, a food drive or a complete makeover day for the less fortunate. She's usually booked out for at least a month, so plan ahead. The Funky Hue is uniquely the BEST salon with a great staff!

This is my second time going to The Funky Hue and I have nothing but good things to say…read more I initially heard about the salon and Bea through my sister, who loved her haircut. This is impressive being that my sister has really curly hair so that alone is a challenge for her to find a hairstylist that can deal with curly hair at a reasonable price. On my second visit, however, I did more than just trim my ends. I decided to get some color done. It was long overdue. I'm very low maintenance when it comes to hair so Ombre is my go-to. Being that I moved back to Houston recently..finding a hair stylist to trust proved to be difficult. I've had my bad experiences, but on my first visit Bea's passion for hair and hair color shined so I trusted her. I'm soooooo glad I did!! My color looks so beautiful, and the transition of colors is phenomenal. I showed Bea pictures of what I wanted and did NOT want. I shared my prior coloring history in case it could interfere with the results and asked for an estimate. She gladly shared that information and listened to what I had to say with such confidence that it put me at ease. Sugar Land/Stafford you're lucky to have her so close by...I gladly drive and will drive again to Bea from Midtown. Go to her. It beats the larger salons hands down.
