Kevo is amazing!!! We got married at the Mid-Pacific Country Club last July and Kevo was both our DJ and our MC. It was EXACTLY the vibe we wanted. Keep in mind this review comes from a guest/emcee/third party standpoint. My best friend had her wedding reception at Aulani and she decided to search Yelp and chose one of the highest rated and best reviewed DJs. Cut to the night of the wedding, I meet with Ray to go over a few things and I informed him that we had a script that we had to follow and that we were going to make all the announcements. To our disappointment, we quickly found out that the Ray was unprofessional and uncooperative. The first red flag was that guests noticed Ray had what looked like a beer and that he was leaving the DJ booth repeatedly throughout the night to take photos with characters (Disney characters made appearances at the wedding). I'm sure this maybe would've been fine if he had at least asked if it was okay first. A couple times we needed to make an announcement but Ray was not at his station to lower the music and turn on the microphones. Next, Ray of sunshine over here decides to take it upon himself to make announcements and even cut off the emcee mic and refused to let us announce last call for the photo booth (which was in the script, timeline and requested by the photo booth vendor). The bride and a friend confront Ray and he quips something like "I've been doing this for 35 years so I know best". 35 years of having attitude and being unprofessional? Even if he did know best, he could have spoken with the bride and groom, emcees, wedding coordinator, etc. With his "years of experience" he tells us that if we make an announcement, it would "kill the mood" (which he had already done by that point). He then proceeds to cut the music, leave the mic turned off, and says to us, "see". *update* Ray contacted my friend, the bride, with a very lengthy, defensive email. I empathize that negative comments can hurt and there may be a need to withhold one's pride. However, an angry, defensive email, especially in a customer service setting, is unprofessional in and of itself. *update* Kevin has been amazing following this event. I've reviewed email exchanges between my friend and Kevin and it is obvious he cares very deeply for his company and its customers. The stars may not matter, but I have updated from 1 star to 3 stars. The support and compassion has been unwavering. read more

We booked DJ Kevo for our wedding in the Coconut Club at the Ashton Waikiki Beach hotel through Tikis. DJ Kevo is one of the most wonderful, professional and true artists in his craft. My advice is book early! Or book through Tikis Bar and grill. He added my father- daughter dance song within the last couple seconds and he played everything we requested! Planning a wedding from 3000 miles across the ocean was anything but easy. On the one 3 day visit we had to do wedding planning, we met up with Kevo to see if we felt like he would be a good fit for our wedding. I was blown away at how expensive DJ/Emcee could get for wedding events, but I really did want to be particular since this person was going to set the whole tone for our reception. We really liked Kevo when we met him and discussed what we were looking for - he picked up on our goofy dynamic as a couple and said he had a really good picture of what we were wanting. Another draw for booking with him was that we could include uplighting (also crazy crazy expensive with some vendors) as part of our package. We were 5 or so months out from our wedding and it took us a little while to finally commit, but Kevo was great and stayed in communication with us via email whenever we had questions. When we decided to book we were really hoping he would be awesome - although it was more than I had hoped to spend, I felt like we were getting a reasonable price and felt confident that he would do a good job for the wedding. The week of the wedding when we arrived in town, Kevo sent us the questionnaire for music, bridal party info, etc. If I would have any complaints at all, I wish I would have had this a few weeks before - my stress and emotions were running super high the days leading in and I did put a lot of thought into the information he was asking for. I'm sure I could have asked for it sooner, guess I just wish it would have proactively been given to me earlier. That being said, Kevo was super accommodating and came to meet us at our hotel to work out some of the final details. He could tell I was really stressing out to finalize the details of things for the programs (what song who walks out to, who you announce, when you want to do this, that, etc.). He sat me down and told me to take deep breaths and that he would take good care of us and totally put me at ease. He gave us a lot of suggestions and that really helped. All that being said, KEVO WAS SO AWESOME AT OUR WEDDING!!!! Seriously, the best vendor we worked with through the entire thing. I wish I knew the other DJ that he brought with him to give him credit as well since he was also great. The entire reception from start to end went without any sort of hiccup. The flow was perfect, the music was perfect (matched exactly what we had asked for - every time a new song came on I remember thinking "oh my gosh I love this song!") - Kevo was totally professional, funny, charismatic. The guy stood to the side while we called up tables to take photos with us as they started dinner and handed me water in between groups - little things like that honestly made me feel special and really well taken care of. All of the standard things went off without a hitch and flowed so well - toasts, speeches, introductions, excusing for dinner, money dance, bouquet and garter toss, etc. He took the appropriate amount of song requests and really kept the group of us happy on the dance floor. At the end of the night while they were packing up, I just remember coming up to his table and telling him how much fun I had all night. I hope it's not saying too much - but I felt like this guy was a make or break for the event - and it wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable without him. I wish I didn't take over 4 months to write this review for you - but KEVO, THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR WEDDING SO, SO PERFECT!!! AWESOME!! Best way to describe Kev and everything he does. He was the DJ/emcee at my sons first birthday and really livened up the party. Kev also played a huge role in planning the party as well and to him I owe the success of the party to. There was no one else we wanted to DJ/ emcee our wedding other than Kev. Kevin, DJ Sir Style, and the Bliss DJ Hawaii crew were simply amazing! Kevin was our Emcee with DJ Sir Style at his side for DJing, the Bliss DJ crew operating the "dancing on a cloud" effect, motion monogram on the roof, and the entire ballroom up-lighting! The flow of the program went smoothly with lots of "awe" moments and tons of laughter with all the jokes/games that were done. Our guests are still talking about it! We hired a live band for cocktail hour that brought their own equipment and was able to use Bliss DJs sound equipment to plug into. We also hired a hula halau (Ring of Fire) to re-use the same equipment from the live band during their dinner entertainment. Kevin is super responsive to emails, calls, and texts making the process super easy. We wanted to make sure we got Kevin on the day of so we booked that package an entire year and a half in advance :D The quality of service is simply amazing and the end product is something to be remembered for years and years to come. Bliss DJ is the first vendor we booked for our wedding, and it was one of the best decisions we made. My husband and I are originally from the mainland, so most of our guests were flying in to the island for our wedding. We decided that our #1 priority for our wedding was DJ/Emcee/Entertainment. DJ Kevo responded to our email right away and was available to speak over the phone. He was really easy to talk to and he reassured me that the wedding program would be fun and appropriate for all types of people. He was able to work with our budget and he even did our uplighting and created a custom monogram for us. DJ Kevo met with my husband and me two times in person to go over the timeline and just to get a feel for how we were as a couple. We are so thankful he took the time to speak with us and get to know us before the wedding. DJ Kevo really encouraged and showed us how to personalize our wedding and just make it our own. Just little details here and there that we never would have thought of, but those details just make the wedding so much more special. ! He gave the perfect suggestions for music/songs based on our music preferences, and he really was able to feel the crowd and played the perfect songs throughout the night. People were dancing all the way till the very end! We also expressed to DJ Kevo that entertainment was important to us. He recommended a few games to play during the reception, and they were a HIT. Everyone had so much fun and people still talk about the games (6 months later)! Even our 90 year old grandfather was chuckling and having the time of his life. Kevin (owner) was awesome as our DJ/MC! When I had first contacted him for our wedding in August, he was super laid back and helpful with the process. He met us before we booked and made us feel very taken care of. He played all the songs we wanted to, mixing in a couple requests from guests that kept the mood exciting and upbeat! My only regret was not fitting in one or two of his games (you can find on youtube), they're hilarious! DJ Kevo is the best! From our first meeting, we knew he'd be a good match - without a flinch, he was ready to create a musical experience honoring our Chinese, Hawaiian and Italian cultures for a 200 person wedding reception. He was able to work with our tight budget and we were able to have his DJ services and uplighting (which was beautiful) truly tie our wedding and reception together. He honored the songlist requests we submitted to him (using his organized template) and was so attentive during the reception, finding music to fit each person who spoke or was part of the program. From the very first song to the last, he kept people dancing on their feet - there wasn't a single dud of a song, and he manipulated the red uplighting to match the tone of each song. We wished we could have danced until the wee hours of the morning because the music was that good and the ambiance was perfect. In addition to beautiful uplighting and a great playlist for the night, DJ Kevo also allowed us to use two of his cordless microphones and have a musician plug his guitar into his sound system for special gifts of music without any hassle - the sound was clear and the logistics were smooth, and we didn't even need to know about the technicalities since he worked in partnership with our wedding coordinators and photographer/videographer. It's no wonder he was the DJ for my cousin's recent wedding and our photographer/videographer's wedding - we would hire him again in a heartbeat! read more

Bliss DJ was soooooo great! I just had my wedding in Kailua in my Dad's backyard. We had Bliss do the DJing and the Emceeing. There were two guys- Kevo and another guy- Kevo focused on the Emceeing and the other gentleman did the music. We didn't have to even think about them the whole night. I gave Kevo our "program" ahead of time which he followed superbly, making announcements at perfect times. We gave him a very sparse list of music and genres that we liked- really just a couple of artists and a couple of songs, and told him to just play whatever he felt like playing. The music was perfect! He totally read the mood of the crowd and played certain songs/ genres accordingly. He also let us use a microphone/ sound system for the wedding ceremony for the officiant. His experience as an MC/DJ is the most impressive I have seen by far. This review is way overdue, but I hope better late than never. Bliss DJs, most especially DJ Kevo, was amazing! I'm sure any wedding party or event that had them can attest to it. The quality I see about them is that they make it all about the couple. Once Kevo took the stage, he made magic! Of course as a bride, you cannot think of anything else, but just focus on your beautiful day with your husband, DJ Kevo took the reigns while having in mind all the notes we made during the meeting. My wedding day was in good hands. We had 300 plus people, and everyone was entertained - all ages! The services I got from them was having them as MCs. This was at first, difficult for me because I didn't think of having a complete stranger an MC - but Kevo became family, through the meetings and again, learning a lot about us as a couple. They also did our uplighting and mongoram (of our initials to match my invitation). But if there's one thing I'm grateful for, it's how professional and positively personal DJ Kevo and his team were. Like every other wedding, there's always some challenges. A few days before my wedding, Kevo called me personally and gave me words of encouragement and promised to help make my day beautiful. To have a vendor attuned, aware about their clients says a lot. Yes, they can provide their music and mc skills, but what sets them apart is that they know that it's all about you, the client. I was blown away during my first phone con with Kevo. He got in touch with me within a few hours of my initial inquiry, and as soon as we got to chatting I knew he was who I wanted to book. He came across as extremely personable, professional and friendly, I felt like I was talking with someone I had known for years. We scheduled a sit down meeting to talk about my desires for our reception. He was there promptly and took charge of the meeting, asking all the right questions, documenting my preferences as well as assisting me in creating my timeline and giving a lot of suggestions that I hadn't even thought about. After discussing music tastes and styles of ours and our families he was able to get a good sense of what we were looking for. I was really excited to be working with him just after the initial meeting. I booked as soon as I could for DJ and MC services. We filled out a great worksheet where we selected specific songs that we wanted played throughout the night. The wedding was amazing. He made sure to run requests by us first which was really nice. I met Dj Kevo 1 month before my wedding. He helped me to relax and feel comfortable, ensuring me and my fiance we were in good hands! He practically finished our whole reception timeline during our meeting, and there was nothing but laughs during the process. He was still responding to my emails 2 nights before the wedding. We were connected to Kevo through our band. Kevo was so responsive via email and so friendly in person. We definitely got a good vibe from him when we had our consultation. Kevo set us up with a DJ sheet so we could let him know our preferred genres and songs for our wedding. He did an awesome job! Not only did he play the genres and songs we liked, but also he was able to read the crowd and play what was appropriate for everyone to have a good time. We had such a fun night! I wasn't sure if we'd have that kind of dancing reception, but we did!...and it was all because of Kevo's awesome music and emcee skills when we needed him. The first thing I must say is that Bliss DJs were amazing. I had talked with Kevin several times over the phone setting up our music list. We finally got to meet and have a sit down where we could go over all the songs that we wanted. Me and my wife did not have very many songs picked out and he was there to help tremendously in helping us pick out some great songs. We had our venue at Café Julia which was amazing. He had done several events there on a regular basis which made us feel very comfortable. At the event he engaged all of our guests in the mood was set perfect the entire time. The lighting that he used matched our color scheme perfectly. I would highly recommend him for any event because he knows music selection and how to keep all the guests engaged. We had an evening wedding at the Ko'Olau Ballrooms. Now, previous to our wedding, we were definitely on the hunt for an amazing DJ/MC, one that we could connect with, that preferably did not (overall) read off of a sheet, and that just sounded genuine. We had NOT expected to meet the DJ/MC of our dreams when we went to an ABC mixer in downtown Oahu. Dj Kevo was doing both the MC and DJ at the mixer and we got to hear his voice, see what he did, and see how he connected with the guests. When I went up to him to ask questions, he was spot on...and I have to say that I had asked him a LOT of questions that night. We had wanted an element of FUN, at our wedding and that is what we got! Thanks Kevo! The games were hilarious and Kevo, you improvised really well and it felt like you were definitely a part of the wedding, rather than just a stranger who was MC-ing. One thing I wish could have gotten to do with you was take a photo at the photobooth with you! Some things I might have changed for our wedding if I could: 1.) For koolau, we/they forgot to mention that after the cake is served, guests need to pick up their slice at the dessert area at the buffet. We didn't realize that this needed to be announced so many guests were waiting for their slice of cake and never got it because they didn't know they were supposed to get it themselves. If I could have, I would have made sure this was announced. 2.) During the whole wedding, you were saying Matthews last name, Luc wrong the whole time!! We didn't correct you though so our fault. 3.) For the scavenger hunt game, for the last hunt, players had to put a belt back onto the person who they took it from. This I think was a special case but one of the last contestants took this experience very poorly. She forced herself to participate but in the end hated the exp and ended up crying when she got home. She said she felt "humiliated and really awkward". I'm guessing this might not happen often but I'm thinking, maybe next time, BEFORE announcing the last hunt, give contestants the option to back out and/or give their belt to someone who is up for a "possibly embarrassing" challenge. =) We do want to emphasize that if we did this again, we'd ask Kevo to do it all over again. We had our wedding in Laie in February and hired Bliss DJs. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They played what we requested and made the night run so smoothly.
