My son broke his glasses at school. The frames were shattered but the lenses were still intact. We…read morewere just there for his annual visit and bought new frames, but they were not in yet. The office said I could come by and they can try to find frames to match his lenses. They did not give up until they found frames for him! My son can't really see well without his glasses and he would have had to miss school if he couldn't get new glasses right away. They made sure that he could get new frames and went above and beyond for us. Their kindness and care for patients goes a long way.

Every person I encountered at Valley Vision Center was warm and welcoming. I went there with all my vision records from my amazing Dr. John C Lawyer, O.D (Nevada) to make the transition go smoothly. The staff at Valley Vision Center in Geneva, IL was very appreciative of my efforts. Each phase of my visit at Valley Vision Center was professionally conducted, and well orchestrated. The staff was knowledgeable, and did I mention very warm/friendly. I felt as if I had been seen at Valley Vision Center for years. Dr. Michele Montalbano was extremely personable, inviting, approachable, intelligent, and THOROUGH. I could instantly discern that Dr. Michele Montalbano respects her staff and lead by example. She takes her time with her patients and finds time to have a teachable moment with her team in a non-judgmental manner. Dr. Michele Montalbano answered all my questions and I didn't feel rushed, I actually felt like she was a longtime friend while doing her job. The young lady who helped me with my glasses purchase was very very patient in helping me get the best out of my insurance plan, she ran the numbers and checked them as many times as I needed her to. I felt great about the decision we made together. I could go on and on about the Valley Vision Center and how wonderful my experience was, but I will let those who read this decide for themselves. He had tremendous eye pain for a couple days and it kept getting worse. My advice to anybody reading my first review below and who may fit this category - call them again and see if your insurance is now accepted or another arrangement can be made, as they told me "changes have been made since the new year". Turns out my eye irritation was possibly allergy related (either on it's own, or POSSIBLY indirectly related to a possible condition I may have such as fibromyalgia or something auto-immune, and I was prescribed special eye drops for the next few months. I say "possible" because that diagnosis hasn't YET been made by my other doctors as far as conclusively. But, I at least have more information on how to comfort the eye discomfort I have been having for 6+ months thanks to my visit with Dr. King. I was very pleased with my visit and all the staff (I have been coming here pretty regularly since I have been a teenager) and will continue to come here for my eye-related needs. Again as stated above, if you had previous problems (the past year) with insurance providers or payment issues, please at least give them a second call to see if things may have changed or other arrangements can possibly be made.

I was made an appointment online for Forever Eyecare through Delta Vision who noted they were a…read morepreferred provider under my plan. A few days before the appointment, I was sent an email stating that they were sorry I cancelled. I never cancelled. I called and was told that they do not have the doctor in on Wednesdays, which is why I chose them in the first place (again, as per the DV website). I was able to reschedule the appointment for a couple days later. Problems arose the day of the appointment. There was tons of traffic, and so I was running a little bit late (my Waze said 11 minutes) for my appointment. I called just to let them know, and they told me that I would have to cancel if I was more than 10 minutes late. I couldn't continue driving and chance it. Like, I get that they have a policy, but things happen..Still, not a pleasant experience. No matter.. one quick Google search and call, and I'll be at another optometrist in a few days. How many Doctors do you…read moreknow that will take a call 5 minutes before they close on a Saturday, telling them that you have been referred from an urgent care doctor that "couldn't find anything wrong"? Dr. Atwell is the answer. He goes out of his way to take care of his patients. Usually I show up at the end of the year to get new glasses and that us usually that. His office didn't hesitate to stick around make sure I was cared for at the highest standard, given a prescription, a personal cell phone number in case things didn't get better with stern directions to call, and a follow up appointment "anytime you can come in" Monday. Dr Atwell is not a typical 9-5 doctor, he is a rare breed of physician that cares for his patients, will bend over backwards for his patients and provides the best standard of care. Batavia is a small town and more people need to know about Dr. Atwell. He and his staff are hidden gems in our little town. If you need eye care, even if its glasses, contacts or medical issues, you need Dr. Atwell. I haven't found anyone else that compares.

My wife went in for a pair of regular and sun glasses, no exam so can't comment on that. She bought designer frames on both and after a day or so, she went back for a adjustment as they weren't fitting quite right. Again, after a day or so they were sliding about on her face so she knew they weren't fitted correctly. Back she goes and on this visit she finds out they sold her men's frames. You think any reputable business would say "we're very sorry, pick out some lady's frames and we'll correct our error". But no, they wouldn't do anything except to try and adjust them once again. One female assistant said "you've say they're to tight......too lose, make up your mind"! Yes! Really! Another employee (male) said to my wife, and I quote" you have thin skin because you're menopausal". Good thing I wasn't there when he said that! Those of you who wear glasses know they can be quite expensive and Third Street Optical did OBSOLETELY NOTHING to resolve our issue, give her a refund or offer to change frames. Beware of this business because if you have problems, don't expect any resolution!
