Like other spots I've reviewed though you end up trying to take your life in your own hands if you attempt to walk anywhere but towards the main 'mall' portion of the complex. The access road has no sidewalks/crossing and is treated like a raceway by the locals. Your kids either need to be light or fast to cross the roadway to get to the Starbucks and there are no sidewalks so you have to dodge cars racing to get in line or cutting through the O'Charlies. Wish more areas would realize cars and pedestrians don't mix well and add some support for walking.

This shop is a tad cluttered and overwhelming but if you have the time and patience to weave through the tight spaces, you will absolutely find something fun and fabulous. There seemed to be sections of body/beauty, hats and clothing, a flag and decor area, an area with canned/bottled goodies and dip mixes, nostalgic candy, a counter with fudges, hand pies, ice cream, and candied nuts, a section with books and toys and many (MANY!) gift ideas and Smoky Mountain souvenirs. We also loved that the local Dancing Bean Coffee sells beans in bulk here. We have been using the Turtle flavor daily the last few days and love how smooth and subtle the flavor is, not overpoweringly sweet like many flavored coffees. The service was amazing-patient, prompt, and friendly. The candied pecans are the best I've ever had. They have been wonderful on salads and on a charcuterie board since I brought them home. The pricing wasn't extremely high either! For the fudge, ice cream, book, coffee, candy, popcorn seasoning, and nuts we purchased, I think we spend around $30. Not too shabby!

Parking's an issue if you're arriving when the bistro is open. We were always able to find a space, but sometimes not near the cabin. There are a couple signs for "cabin parking" but they were frequently moved, taken down, or ignored. Something the lodge should really fix. Roomy living space, couch, several more upholstered chairs, dining table. Wood burning fireplace (in season). Smartest TV I've seen in a hotel room. Most every streaming service you could think of, and when one wasn't there, it was a breeze to download and add. Full kitchen, basic plates, glasses, silverware. Paper towels provided. Microwave, oven, toaster, dishwasher, full fridge. A few ice trays. If you plan to do your own cooking, plan to take anything more you need. Roomy bathroom, walk in shower, great water pressure. Bed was wavy when moving, so a little partner disturbance, and wife complained it was not great on her back. Ok, but could use a refresh. Daily service as you need; leave a card with what you'd like checked each morning on the door. Overall an excellent place to stay in Townsend. The restaurant is tucked into a nice wooded area near the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. There is outdoor seating available, a firepit area with make your own smores, and indoor seating which is where we dined. We were greeted as soon as we entered and waited at the bar where Ian served us (he was great) until our reservation time (doubt we could have got in without the reservation). The bar had a huge selection of bourbon including many allocated bottles. My wife had a spicy margarita which she loved. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. Our server, David, brought us some of their famous cornbread it reminded me of couple of pieces of cake except it was cornbread with a delicious sorghum syrup and whipped butter. It was unique and delicious. We started with trio of dips - sharp cheddar pimento cheese, butter bean hummus, and my favorite smoked salmon rillette. These were served with sea salt crackers and pickled vegetables. It was all tasty and the smoke salmon had so much flavor. I had delicious thick cut pork chop topped with peach and jalapeno jam. It was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy and the topping added a fantastic spicy tang. The sides were charred baby carrots, green beans, a spoonbread with red-eye gravy and red pepper emulsion. My wife had a filet with bearnaise sauce and Yukon potatoes with cauliflower, sweet peppers, mushrooms and braised onions. It was cooked exactly as ordered with such a great taste and so tender. David brought my with a complementary piece of pie made with Cruze Farm buttermilk topped with berries and a lemon drizzle. It was a fantastic experience and we were so happy with everything. Everything was pricey for the area, but well worth it for what we received.
