The time issue was simply that the projects took a bit longer than we'd planned. The time problem though was at least partly our fault (changing our minds about design, etc), and that was compounded by suppliers actually sending the wrong product on occasion, so certainly not all a Wise Choice issue. Other than that, they were great to work with, very pleasant people all around, very conscientious (cleaning up work spaces thoroughly every day), and the entire project came in under budget! We will definitely reach out to them again for our next remodel.

We first learned about Wise Choice through Yelp, and although we were initially nervous about choosing a contractor for such a large job (they gave us the best estimate, by far!) without a personal recommendation, we couldn't be happier with our decision. They were great to work with throughout the entire process, from architectural and engineering plans, permitting, and the actual construction. The project manager, Sergiy, and foreman, Bogdan, were very honest, helpful, and responsive every step of the way. The project was completed pretty much on budget (with only a couple of unforeseen issues outside of their control) and on time. Third floor condo - we ordered all, they bought everything up three flights of steps ( 950 square feet) - after carpet was up they noted flooring was off, and LV was not an option unless floor floated. We opted for carpet. They hauled all of the LV back down three flights. Zero complaints. Happy to do whatever was in our best interest! Everything they were supposed to do had to be done twice or more. I had to order and pick up…read moresupplies constantly due to LYD contractors not measuring and trying to get by with short cuts. I had to order windows three times, a door twice, etc. I spent an unusually large amount of time coming back from work midday to supervise, per their request, bring supplies they had not accounted for, or redirect uninformed subs. I also had to carry and move and return the supplies they screwed up. This was a disaster project and took more than twice as long to finish as quoted. Items were installed that were unsafe (stairway railings) but the kicker when we were finally done: they screwed a toilet paper holder into our brand new vanity making it impossible to open the drawers without damaging it as well as too close so that we cannot put a roll on the holder. This is a daily reminder of how they screwed up our entire remodel that should have been an easy basement flip. ($200k+ and under 800sf) They fired the Supervisor halfway through our job for incompetency, but did not fix what they had already screwed up and now the flooring they put down is coming up in places. Absolute disaster and unpleasant experience. Don't trust his videos of "happy customers" he will show you on his phone or iPad when he comes to sell to you. It's all a scam.

While that was an unwelcome surprise, I felt extremely fortunate that Corneliu was the one who discovered and ultimately fixed the problem. This issue was neglected by another contractor who had done siding work previously for me. Corneliu fixed everything the RIGHT WAY at a very fair price and worked as late as 7:30pm, long after the sun had gone down, to ensure everything was done before the next storm rolled in. I'll be hiring Corneliu for a bathroom remodel later this year and anything else that may come up!

We wanted a door installed in the interior of our home. Cornel arrived, measured the space, explained the different styles, asking what we'd like. Then he went to the hardware store himself, took photos of all of the options that fit our criteria, and texted us the options so we could choose, saving me time from having to go to the store myself. He also went above and beyond by offering to fix the opposite side of the door frame, which was ugly before the project started. We didn't even think it was an option to fix that. Cornel installed the door, painted it, and fixed the trim on both sides, on the same day. The final result is absolutely perfect. It's beautiful, and the quality is stellar. We will certainly be using Smart Construction again in the future for home projects that we can't do ourselves.

Frank was hired to reframe part of my roof due to a large leak and replace a window. He placed…read morelarge plastic sheets over the interior and exterior areas so I could not see the area when they had remove the roof or window. He had placed 2x4 over layers of rotted wood. The roof area replaced had 5" of standing water (there was no slope). Nine months later we had our house re-sided and this the terrible workmanship we uncovered. The area around the entire window and roof was completely rotted and he did not say anything nor did he repair it. The photos say it all. Notice the large beam under the coping that was placed on rotted wood. Frank is unethical and his gross negligence surrounding this project is astounding.
