We took our one-year-old Golden-Doodle in to Blendon Kennels for a simple grooming. The before and after pictures posted below say it all: They didn't groom her, but instead SHAVED her. We are in shock. I dropped the dog off early in the morning. I spoke with the groomer. She told me that it would be $10 extra because my dog's hair was "matted." Fair enough - she was mildly matted, but not excessively. Our regular groomer also charges a bit more because she has to use a special comb to work through the hair before cutting. My wife picked up the dog in the afternoon. Imagine her shock at seeing this horrendous, unprofessional hack job. She complained. The groomer then lied to my wife, telling her that I had agreed to this. When my wife denied this, she told my wife that it wasn't her problem if she has communication issues with me. They had no right to do this to our dog. And, anyway, a professional would contact me before removing all of her hair. I called an hour later, and asked to speak with the groomer to complain. I was told she was no longer in for the day. I asked the business to call me back. After leaving another message today, I've not heard back, and it's been 24 hours. It's obvious that they don't care what we think. You've been warned, and all you need to see are the pictures attached. They're good at removing all the hair from your dog, if that's what you're looking for. The defensiveness and unprofessional insults are thrown in for no additional charge. read more

I love the customer care my babies get at Blendon Kennels. We have been patrons for years. My other lil pom has since passed away but I loved how well his cuts were. Today I have 2 new members and one senior and they all get the best grooming and care and don't mind the stay! They look good and I also get the wonderful customer care as well! I give them 5 stars for 1. Great service 2. Great products used 3. Great technique 4. Great facilities 5. This is definitely not a fancy place like some of the other pet palaces and hotels. Actually it's rather small and behind a family home. You could easily drive right by. It's family owned and my dog has been coming here for years. All the staff here seem like they genuinely love animals and that this is more than just a job. The customer service is awesome, they know my dog by name and always are thrilled to see her. Chance, my dog, absolutely loves this place. Prices are reasonable. The hours of operation are okay, but Sundays they are only open from 5pm-6pm. They have been nice enough to stay when I have ran late for a pick up. The groomer is great, I have given her the green light to let her do her thing with grooming Chance and she is creative! The only downfall is the parking, it's a little tricky getting in and out, a very tight spot. Btw, they are always accepting newspaper donations. read more

BEWARE!!!! There is a reason they have availability..... This place is awful and their website is deceiving. They turn off the AC to where the dogs are kept... My 3 dogs were not given water; the staff was awful - they lost 3 of my expensive leashes, let one of my dogs escape, and the explanation was "we made no promises and there is a sign we aren't responsible for your personal stuff." Do not go here. Do not trust these terrible people. Will be filing a formal complaint. read more

Our family loves this kennel/groomer for our beloved dog!! We get our chi bathed and groomed monthly, and use the kennel every time we must board him for business trips. The staff are so kind and caring. The rates/prices are very reasonable too. I've referred and recommended several coworkers, friends and family members to use Blendon kennels over the years. I take my dog in to blendon kennels for "daycare" on days when my roommate isn't home, and he absolutely loves it! I was nervous at first, because my dog is very apprehensive of new people, but he warmed up to the staff quickly and they all love him like their own. I'd recommend them any day! read more

I've been bringing my dogs here for years especially when I had my Yorkie and he'd get a schnauzer cut. Now I bring my Dobermans for a shine and nails. Abby is super with our dogs and they seem to really like her too. Parking is tight and its a pretty unassuming place but the prices are reasonable and the staff has always been accommodating no matter what issue I'm having. I loved Dave when he used to groom my Yorkie. No frills no fuss no muss but just right for my doggies and me. read more

I am thoroughly disappointed by the behavior of management, I have been bringing my dogs there for over 10 years, I have had to reschedule due to situations I could not control, due to those they kicked me out has a customer. The first reschedule was due to the passing of my beloved dog,the one I took there to be groomed, the second was due to my child being ill and the road being a level 2 snow emergency, they showed no caring about either, just refused to speak to me. There was incident with my first dog where the technician cleaned my dogs ears with straight alcohol, causing a massive vet bill, I left them once, but after finding out from another customer things had changed and staff was releases, I decided to give them another chance, from that point the technician did a great job with both my animals. When I went to make my apt, I was turned away due to those rescheduled apts, so loyalty means nothing to them. I do commend their front person David for trying and knowing the meaning of the customer matters. The management staff couldn't even show enough curtesy to call me and tell me they pawned it on there front guy.. So very unprofessional place, they proved customer loyalty does not matter. read more

Very disappointed with my visit today! My sons and I brought our 7 dogs in for nail trimming and during the process the discussion of breed of 2 of the dogs came up. When I told one of the workers that the breed was different than what she stated we were verbally attacked that we were in no way shape or form CORRECT. Not by one but by 2 of the groomers (the first went to get the 2nd). The 2nd went so far as to ask the name of vet and name of the doctor who told us the breed. I have been coming here for years and have referred others (one of which had an argument with the person she scheduled with)to Blendon and will never do either again. No matter what breed I said our vet told us the dogs were should have never led to such behavior. VERY unprofessional. read more

If you love your dog, do not take them here. First of all its hard to make appointments, you have to wait a while and they keep track of everything on note cards. Also, they will just have groomers not show up and try to cancel your long awaited, much needed appointment. Lastly and most importantly they will hurt you dog. My dog has 3 large cuts and a bad infection on her paw. All of which happened after her grooming session. I tried to save money but now will pay a $100 vet bill. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I took my pets to Blendon Kennels for grooming for several years until groomer Abbey left. They've gone way down hill from there in terms of how they treat customers. I wasn't happy with my dog's cut and asked for a portion to be done over. Because I expressed my concern that the cut instructions weren't followed, the (female) groomer was extremely upset with me, and has since REFUSED to groom my dog. When I called to schedule another grooming, this same groomer was rude and refused me services. I asked to speak with the owner and talked to the owner's son, who was just as rude. When I explained what the prior incident, he hung up on me. He obviously thinks this behavior is ok. I waited a few months, and tried one more time. I called for a grooming appointment and spoke with the owner's son, only to be reminded of the prior incidents and he hung up on me AGAIN! I have never been treated so RUDELY by a company in my life and I will never return to Blendon Kennels again. read more

We recognize that our dog is anxious, and a handful. He's a husky, and it comes with the territory. That is why we take extra precautions before having him groomed or boarded. Drugs, toys, smells, research, instructions, warnings .. You name it. However, despite my best-laid plans, we received back a wounded, dehydrated, hungry dog whose nails had not been trimmed because he struggled (which he always does, and is why we pay professionals to do it in the first place). They proceeded to charge us more at pickup than we were quoted at drop-off, and misplaced a number of the items (three toys, blanket, dog bed, retractable leash, Kong) we left for him. They eventually brought us all but the missing blanket and bed, which he may have shredded anyway but I was not going to hang around to ask about. There comes a point when it's just time to cut your losses. Our dog was (and we were) clearly spoiled by his last boarder and groomer, who charged the same rates and handled him expertly. Probably fine for a calm little lap dog, but our pup will not be back to Blendon Kennels. read more
