    Blackened filet with rosemary potato
    Rachelle Rare P.

The place makes the BEST blackened steak I've ever tasted. I'm not even a huge steak person but the filet mignon blackened with rosemary potato's is delicious! My husband is a big cigar fan and wanted to try this place. You cannot bring outside cigars. Our first time here we sat outside of the patio, there is a fountain and a plethora of chairs to choose from out there with TV's too. I chose the chicken pasta dish while my husband ordered the filet blackened. After me nearly devouring his steak lol I've faithfully ordered this meal every time we come here. Sometimes they offer a special where the meal includes a cigar. If ordering off the menu you get the chance to go pick it yourself inside. The waiters are very courteous, it's usually an older gentlemen who takes care of us outside he does a great job. This is a great place to smoke a cigar, grab a good bite to eat and relax.

We are thrilled to have stumbled upon a fantastic cigar lounge that also boasts a fully stocked bar! And to top it off, they even serve delicious food. Count us in! We have become regular visitors of the Blend Bar and have always been treated to top-notch service. While we typically don't indulge in their food offerings, today we decided to give it a shot, and boy, were we blown away! The food exceeded our expectations in every way. The lounge provides multiple areas where you can enjoy your cigar. There's the elegant section with wingback chairs and luxurious leather couches, the lively bar area with the usual tables and chairs where you can catch a game while savoring your smoke, or you can opt for the serene outdoor space by the water fountain or cozy fire pit. And if the weather turns chilly, fret not, as they have an abundance of patio heaters to keep you warm and snug. This establishment is simply amazing. While I personally would appreciate a wider selection of cigars, the fact that they offer Davidoff Cigars is impressive! Having a place that caters to all our needs is a win in my book. However, if you prefer, I believe you can always bring your own cigars along. I have, but I always ask if I can smoke it first. Of course boo gets their best selection so it pays off.

Extremely friendly staff that was literally on top of every need I had before I even asked! Phenomenal selection of allocated bourbon and scotches! Top-notch cigars and the humidor, especially the Davidoff. The food here is on par to be some of the best I have ever had especially their steak! The atmosphere was very welcoming, and the exhaust system was amazing! The place was full, but you couldn't tell that it was full of smoke because it was being drawn out as such an amazing rate!

This is our go to Cigar and Whiskey bar we frequent all the time and is our absolutely favorite place and why I keep forgetting to do a review is beyond me. so here I am finally remembering to do one and sharing our best kept secret. While I don't smoke I go because my hubby is a cigar and whiskey lover I go because I just love the vibe here and the food and drinks are always great. There's great music playing there's always sports on every tv and can we talk about the service. They entire staff are constantly checking on you to make sure your taken care of and offer just primo service. Alex and Beth are the Managers and are always so welcoming. If you want to get a good whiskey our bourbon recommendation then Alec or Chris are your go to guys. There in a great location across from the Market Place and Cynthia Pavilion. If you're in the area check them out.

Steak night! Glass of wine and a cigar and a steak with potatoes. Chefs kiss!

Complete royalty experience. Everyone of the staff was amazing and helpful. A bunch of of us. Friends came out to check out blend bar because we had never been and completely loved the experience. Steak night, which was a glass of wine steak and a cigar all for under $50 and that is a steal. 1 10/10 recommend!! the staff thereThgo completely out of their way to make sure your experience is amazing. I saw some complimentary Charro beans that I did not get a try but excited to come back and check them out.

This is a wonderful place to get some food, a drink and a nice cigar. Or simply a place to just go to relax from the hot Texas heat! Let's be real, Blend Bar is not a place for your average Joe. You need some $ and you will be spending some $$$! It was my first time visiting with my brother in law who lives in town. Wonderful selection of Davidoff cigars. Great drinks and excellent customer service. Lots of comfortable seating including the bar. They made you feel like home and glad that you came in! Now that's what I call some good Texas hospitality!

If you want a cigar bar without all the ostentatious splendor but still exudes sophistication in its simplicity then Blend is the spot. A place to take out of town business associate/friends, a late night indulgence of a cigar and spirits, date night or just a place to chill this place will not disappoint from its highback, supportive chairs to the patio lounge area Blend's layout flows from the casual group seating to quiet conversations in a corner between friends sitting in plush velvet seating. If you want to take it up a notch try to find the hidden room for when you need some privacy. The last time I went, the cigar selection was somewhat limited due to the hurricane interfering with deliveries but they should be back to full stock at the time of this post. Their filtration system is top notch as in you will not see clouds of smoke billowing in the air and you will not leave from the inside with a smoky smell on your clothing. Look forward to a sip and smoke soon!!!

I'm only giving them a 3/5 because they didn't have many options to the humidor. The selections that remain are pretty mild other than the Camacho. If you know your smokes I'm sure you'd feel the same due to not having the selections. But some things to highlight was the service and conversation from different guest. Very friendly environment. I'd give them another shot with hopes of more smoke selections.

Love love this place , always a good selection of cigars and the food is definitely delicious too. The place may be a cigar place but is not strong you can actually enjoy the food . The place is NOT GHETTO, Trashy is more of the high end . Good place to go after a meeting , golf tournament , classy date

    Ceasar salad.. delicious

This place is so sexy and sophisticated. Excellent cigar choices at all price points, including some exclusives. I came here to celebrate my 50th birthday, and Chris was so sweet. I plan on visiting many times again and bringing my fellow cigar lovers as well.

DJ was spinning tunes inside but we opted for outdoor seating on their covered patio as it was a nice day. I gotta say I had some trepidation given our CM's earlier experiences here. But everything turned out just fine on our visit. First off I love that everything on the menu is under $20. That means we can order more. I was a bit worried that out steak and eggs would be tough because I ordered it medium rare and it came out more medium well. It's even cut already so they should've been able to tell how well done it was. But it was still tender which is actually all I really cared about. The Holy Smoked Benedict is not your traditional eggs Benedict. Instead of ham they have slices of pork belly. And it's served on a crispy biscuit (I could taste the crunch) with potatoes with a poached egg on top just like a regular Benedict. My only comment would be a little too many potatoes for my particular liking, but you can just brush them off. With the money we saved we got the beignets. They come in a sack of 5 and with a Meyer lemon curd on top side for dipping that has a dollop of melted marshmallow cream on top. They aren't traditional beignets but are really small biscuits. They tasted hot and fresh, and were nice and fluffy regardless, which again is all I really cared about. Cold water comes in an old whisky bottle and is left at your table so you can pour as much as you want when you want. I really wish more restaurants did this. The place is also now on the InKind app so make sure you sign in and pay with the app if you do that kind of stuff. InKind is free and has occasional offers that make dining even more affordable.

We entered to a friendly staff who sat us immediately. The vibe is very modern with some Mexican influence. We were with another couple and I think they were under the impression that this would be Tex-Mex, but it is not. For drinks I got a Mezcalina, my wife got a normal margarita normally I don't love Mezcal, but was feeling adventurous and this drink did not disappoint, it exploded with flavor and was my favorite drink I have had here. The bar program might be the best of any restaurant in the area, as it should be since they have a speakeasy as well. In my previous trip they brought us complimentary chips and salsa, but the time they brought Mexican hummus and pita. I was initially disappointed, but this was one of the more unique complimentary dishes I have had, and loved it. For starters, we got the TOSTADA CHUTORO, which was a tostada with raw fish and caviar. There were two, and although smaller bites to share, the flavor once again really shined through. I would say this is similar to a ceviche dish with really fresh fish and bright flavors.

Upon arrival we noticed the live music was held on the outside patio that's shared with some other neighboring restaurants. We approached the hostess and requested to sit outside however she stated there were no open tables. I asked if we could be notified when a table opened and she stated yes. In the meantime we sat in the bar area. A gentleman approached us initially to take our drink order, then he switched with another waitress. The restaurant was really nice with dim lighting that sets the tone for an intimate date night. We ordered a wedge salad, crab cakes, steak, fries, and mac n cheese. Presentation of the food was really nice and overall the food was decent. We anticipated this steakhouse being comparable to a Perry's or Kirby's, however customer service and food quality did not meet the bar as we expected. There were a few tables that opened up outside however the hostess never informed us that we could move to the patio. That was disappointing as we mainly came for the music. But overall it was a decent experience.

TL:DR it is a solid choice for a special experience and a great steak. I would go again. We started off with a couple of mocktails: The Blood Orange Fizz and the mint virgin Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned was a very tasty concoction--no alcohol burn of course but it captured the sharpness of an Old Fashioned and I really liked the mint. The Blood Orange Fizz was a mild disappointment--it had very little fizz and really needed it. Flavor was OK but not as good flat. We later got a bourbon flight, which was delivered by the bourbon sommelier and was quite fun. For starters we got a wedge salad, the Steakhouse Meatballs, and the Bacon Wrapped Scallops. The salad was fine, a standard garden salad with nice fresh ingredients. The meatballs were excellent--a steak and pork belly blend with a blueberry pepper sauce with onion strings. Great texture, lots of umami and good salt flavor. I absolutely want these next time. Same with the bacon wrapped scallops. They come on a bed of 3-cheese grits that were wonderfully creamy. The sauce has just a little heat. The scallops and bacon were cooked just right. Their seafood entrees are served over these grits, and though we didn't get any seafood I would try some next time for the grits. On to the mains: We had the Refuge Filet, the New York Strip, the Wood-fired Chicken, and the pork chop. The Refuge Filet was the highlight--the jalapeno, bacon and bleu cheese really complement the steak flavor. The steak was impeccably tender and done just right. The New York Strip was also very good. I am not a fan of this cut--when I cook it at home it's always tough. But their version is reasonably tender and has great flavor from the tallow butter they put on it. The steaks came with mashed potatoes that were pretty bland and ordinary. The wood-fired chicken was tender and had good flavor. It is marinated in lemon but we couldn't really taste it except in the bed of risotto. The risotto was quite good, nice and creamy. The pork chop was complicated. It had a tender uniform texture all the way through and nice flavor. I couldn't find any grain in it, almost like it was a fine grind. The sauce was ok, a bit one-note sweet for me. Different from and perhaps better than Perry's chop, but I think I would try something else next time. These dishes came with Apple-Bacon Brussels Sprouts and roasted carrots. The brussels sprouts were a disappointment. Might have known since it's misspelled on the menu. The brussels sprouts were barely cooked and quite tough, with too much of the bottom stem left on, adding to the bitterness. The roast carrots were fine. Since we had a birthday in the party we were treated to a special dessert. Birthday dessert at The Refuge has two major advantages--a nice tableside presentation of bread pudding flambe, and no annoying birthday song. Yay! Definitely tell them it's your birthday. The dessert is a banana bread pudding topped with ice cream. Rather uniform texture but good flavor and excellent with the ice cream. The ambiance is appropriately dark and sumptuous for a fancy steakhouse. The bathrooms are upscale, with available cloth towels. Service was fine but at a pretty relaxed pace, I definitely felt ready for the next course before it came. But we at times requested things from waiters other than the one waiting our table, and they responded immediately--good teamwork. This is not a bargain place, but we got out for under $100 apiece which I actually think is pretty good for an end-to-end meal. If you go to a steakhouse for steaks, you will do well at The Refuge.
