Hubby has a motto: "Never throw away that which can be recycled." Boy does he live by that, and…read moreso does everyone else here. We recycle everything. This has reduced our trash output tremendously, and it's also great for the environment. Hubby found this recycling center several years ago when our subdivision discontinued curbside recycling and it just pained him to throw away all that stuff that he knew could be recycled. Papers always went to the school recycling bins. But what do we do with all of that glass we're generating? You know, those empty beer and wine bottles that we mysteriously seem to manufacture? He thought he'd hit the jackpot when he located this recycling center: they took plastics (1 and 2 only, though), all glass, metal and tin. They have since expanded the materials that they do accept (check their website) and they accept all plastic recyclables now! Hubby is ecstatic! Most people don't even realize this location exists. If you're into recycling and are willing to separate your items and bring it to them, this is not far if you live on the north side of town. Saturday mornings are a great time to drop stuff off, and the workers there unload everything for you. We don't mind taking the extra effort to do this, as it IS reducing the amount that's going into the landfill, and once again, our subdivision voted down curbside recycling. **On a side note, this is stated as being a Montgomery County facility. We, however, do live in Harris County and have been going here for years.

It's very organized and they do have staff on site to guide or assist you. They have everything sorted by paper, glass (brown, green, and clear), plastic, tin and aluminum cans, cardboard, and even a spot for lawn waste (lawn clippings, leaves, branches) It's not too confusing, very self explanatory once you drive in, it's a small area though and if it's you're first time it is hard to find, you have to really pay attention. I love coming here to drop off my recyclables, I just wish they had more and longer hours, they're open Wednesday 4p-7p and Saturday 9a-2p, but overall I have a good experience here, just drop and go really.
