This is a very nice little store in a nice little town. There are a lot of neat items to get here,…read moreand has a lot of stuff that is very interesting related to our local history. The owner in my experience, is a very nice person who is interesting to talk to. From what I've seen, the store isn't often busy so it's easy to stop and talk to her. As for the other negative review, it's her right as a business owner, especially a business owner whose store is connected to their house, to require masks. "Freedom" only applies to public property, if you're on private property you can't just do whatever you want. This isn't an "america freedom" thing this is the case in every country, it is the case in ours too, and has always been the case in our country. From what I remember on my most recent visit, she didn't ask me to put on a mask, but that review was written 3 years ago. Part of my decision to write this review is it's such a nice little store for our local area, and the woman who runs it is polite and I think is a great member of our community, and it seems unfair her only review is a 1 star review from someone who doesn't understand the concept of private property or business ownership. If you want an example of some of the stuff that is sold here, one of the things I've bought was an antique 48 star hand flag, which I appreciate as a fan of flags. There are many other good things there, especially related to Pepperell as a town, and if you are in the area and this store is open I recommend you check it out. You might find something you like!

The place is magical for people who like vintage goods and like to linger on moments from the past…read more The overall esthetic is engaging too! As for the review left by the user criticizing the covid mask policy and rudeness by the proprietor, I have personal knowledge of the interaction and have an alternate view. The rudeness came from the preteen. Who followed her around demanding answers of her about the violation of their "rights". Anyone who has had a preteen will tell you that they do not innately possess, righteous indignation as they have not developed philosophies of life on their own. This is taught and parroted back in the hopes of pleasing their trainers. What does it say when we teach our children this level of aggression and entitlement at such a tender age? The store is a gem and a high rated Pepperell attraction. Check it out if your in the area!

Rug depot carpeted both of our staircases almost immediately after we came in and picked out our carpet choice. The service was speedy and affordable. Also, rug depot is a family owned business. The staff here are caring, helpful and honest. Chris does the installations, his father helps with carpet selection and specifications for your location and his mother works on scheduling and coordination. Together, they run a great show and really take care of their customers. We love Chris. He really helped us find the best carpet for our home, tolerated our crazy toddlers running around in the store and in our home, our barking dog :) and also installed our carpets to perfection. He even drove back to the store and rescheduled our second installation because he wanted to make sure the job was done right. He even made two carpets for us out of the leftovers from the job free of charge! A big thank you to the Rug Depot owners. I wish every store was like yours. You guys are awesome. We will recommend you to everyone we know. I also included pictures of sample rugs we took at the store because the selections are great quality and beautifully handcrafted.

So, the shopper's conundrum is why pay a little more at a store like this, rather than just buy on Amazon. I personally buy a ton of stuff on Amazon, and I don't generally like most stores. But this is one that I frequent, for these reasons: 1. It is a thoughtfully curated collection of items. The owner is a professionally trained chef (read about her on the store website), and the stock here is all practical, high quality, at a variety of price points, and sometimes just fun. 2. The customer service is fantastic. The people who work here are all experienced in the kitchen and they have good insights into how to select and use what they sell. You can have a long, discursive conversation about the merits of one $5 item compared to another. I have found them to be exceptional also at recommending gifts. 3. You can hold things and see them in person, as opposed to relying on marketing writing and often fake online reviews. 4. The vibe here is a delight. It is clean and organized, easy to find things. Back to customer service, the people here are fun to be around. For example, I was once trying to choose between thermometers, and the person helping me matter-of-factly mentioned that the one I was looking at came in either red or black. I choose red, and she lit up and said "Yay!!!" and clapped her hands. So funny..... Anyway, this is a great place, and I value all that they bring to this store.

They take customer feedback and product reviews into consideration when deciding which brands to carry. There's very little that they don't have (or have access to), from fun gadgets to major cookware. Are there items that can be purchased for less at Amazon or TJ Maxx? Of course, but, supporting and shopping local businesses is important to us.

It's not overwhelming, and it's not bare -- it's just well-stocked with the things you actually need. Whether it's plumbing parts, paint supplies, lawn equipment, or random hardware pieces that big-box stores somehow never have in the right size, this place tends to have it. What really sets it apart is the staff. Instead of wandering around trying to decode aisle numbers, someone actually steps in and helps. And not in a pushy way -- in a knowledgeable, practical way. You explain what you're trying to fix, and they help you think it through. That kind of hands-on guidance makes a huge difference, especially for home projects that aren't straightforward. There's also something refreshing about the pace. It doesn't feel chaotic or corporate. It feels steady and reliable. You can get in, find what you need, and leave feeling confident that you bought the right thing. If you value knowledgeable help, a solid inventory, and a store that feels connected to the community rather than just operating in it, Lorden True Value Hardware delivers. It's dependable, well-run, and exactly what a hardware store should be.
