I found out about this place when I had purchased a few vinyls over at Minasan in Japantown and was told they were sourced from here. One of the worst selling experiences I've had at a record store…read more I dealt directly with one of the owners, AJ, and the entire interaction felt disrespectful, evasive, and extremely shady. I brought in records to sell and simply asked what he was valuing a couple of them at individually. Instead of giving me a straight answer, he got defensive, kept saying he could find them elsewhere, and repeatedly tried to steer the conversation back to one bundle price. The biggest red flag was my East Side Story record. AJ clearly had a strong interest in it, but when I asked what he valued that specific record at, he still refused to give me a direct number. If you know enough about a record to specifically want it, you should be able to tell the person standing in front of you what you're valuing it at. I do not care if a store offers me less than market value. Businesses need to make money and I understand that completely. What I do care about is transparency. Don't act like someone is stupid just because they're young. Don't dodge basic questions and expect someone to blindly accept a bundle price without understanding what you're assigning value to. The whole interaction left me feeling like he was hoping I didn't know what I had so he could get a much better deal for himself. If your prices and offers are legitimate, there should be absolutely no reason to be secretive when a customer asks how you arrived at them. Being an owner doesn't give you an excuse to talk down to people, become defensive over basic questions, or make a customer feel like you're trying to pull one over on them. Young does not mean naive. I knew enough to ask questions, and the fact that those questions were met with attitude instead of answers told me everything I needed to know. I walked out with my records, and I'm glad I did.

I specifically asked the employee at the register if it was a monthly charge, and he assured me it wasn't. He was a nice and friendly kid, so I didn't push back at the time. That was my mistake for taking him at his word and believing it was an earned points club like at Old Navy, Famous Footwear, etc. In hindsight, I still cant really say if the kid knows he is selling subscriptions, or if he genuinely believes it's an earned points system. Also, canceling the subscription was a pain because of course customer service is handled out of country by an automated systems that make it nearly impossible to speak to anyone. But...(and this is the reason for my updated review) usually about 2/3 of that stack of records that I have found ends up being more scratched up than I am cool with purchasing. I know my standards are pretty high, and I also know that they are a used record nook in an antiques store, but it's a genuine bummer when you find a real gem of an album only to discover that it is too scratched up to play well. Unfortunately, the visit was disappointing from the moment we arrived. The storefront looked boarded up with wood covering much of the exterior, and it was so dark inside that I honestly couldn't tell if the store was open. Once inside, my girlfriend's son politely asked the employee behind the counter how much a pack cost. The employee responded with, "I can guarantee it's more than you have in your wallet." I was shocked by how rude and dismissive that was, especially toward a kid. That's not the kind of welcome I would expect from an employee. I then told him I wanted to purchase three Prismatic Evolutions packs. He looked at me and said, with an attitude, "You know they're like $20 each, right?" I told him that was fine, but the interaction left a bad impression. What should have been a fun and memorable experience for the kids turned into an uncomfortable one because of the poor customer service. I spent $100 on 6 packs of cards and i was going to buy more cards but didn't want to give them anymore business. I won't be shopping here again and cannot recommend this store based on my experience.
