Well, I got a referral, and my first session with my friend's hairdresser was great--however, six weeks later, the same stylist utterly destroyed my hair; I left her chair after 4.5 hours devastated, and completely lost confidence in the profession. Then I met Kalea. She pulled out all the stops to rescue & recover my hair. She fixed my cut, restored the color (it took two sessions), and set me up with a routine & some incredible products to bring back the texture of my hair. Her work was/is nothing short of miraculous! It went from a total nightmare, to looking and feeling good again. It'll be a long road of trimming & deep conditioning before it's back to 100%, but I absolutely trust Kalea (in her beautiful little studio!) to get me there. I had HMU done for 10 people including myself and I had 0 stress. She was very organized leading up to my day and everything was communicated very clearly. She sent me a template for the schedule day off and I was able to fill in my bridesmaids and mom so they knew exactly what time to show up. Everyone was finished on time and we were not late for the ceremony. Not only did everyone look amazing... but everyone's make up lasted the entire night. There was not one bad photo. She really knows how to apply make up to look good in real life AND in pictures. This is so so so important and I cannot thank her enough for the amazing job. We decided on a slicked high ponytail and it did not frizz by the end of the night. You know when you put your hair up in a ponytail and it starts off looking tight and clean and then by the end of the day it kind of falls apart? This wasn't a problem at all! Finally I'd like to say she also flew to California for my wedding and her prices are extremely reasonable. She's an extremely talented HMU artist and had a lot of talented friends to help her. I hadn't taken professional photos since my wedding ten years ago. I always knew that if I took professional family photos, I would want to hire Katy because she also does hair and makeup. I am Gen X and 100% breastfeeding. Who else would be better at capturing breastfeeding than a boudoir photographer? Her prices are reasonable. She's about $1000 cheaper than the other photographer in Austin who also does hair and makeup. We paid $1085 total for two locations which included thirty three edited photos, hair and makeup, and three photo albums. The photo albums are high quality cardboard pages. We used the newborn photos that Katy took to order birth announcements on Shutterfly. We'll use the family photos for our Christmas cards later this year. We plan on hiring Katy again next year!
