I didn't want to do a review until I graduated. From start to finish. I had nothing but support. Not just from my family but from the teachers, the staff and my classmates. in my opinion it was worth every second and every penny. I went to community college and struggled I didn't think I was going to do anything and my education was going to take forever. I was interested in dental and thought to just go for it. It was hard at first. I had a bad attitude towards everything and didn't feel confident in myself. I wanted to quit the first month and go back to trying to figure out where I would go next. But my teacher mrs.Audra didn't let that happen. She talked to me one on one about my attitude and how she believed I was Better then how I was acting. If It wasn't for her I wouldn't of been a leader in my class, earn the highest GPA I ever had, and been able to have the career of my dreams. I never would've thought I would see myself in such a good place. Blake Austin brought so much of myself out and made me a better person. I will always stay and give back to this school. I want to thank mrs.Audra from being the best teacher I could ever ask for. Ms.sam for having my back during all the crazy things going on while I was on extern and mrs. Melyssa for helping me even when i wasn't her student. I have to agree with the others comments! When I was in school here it was like we were back in high school. Students acting like they a 3 and childish and the staff not putting a stop to the inappropriate behavior. I feel like instructors played sides and people got awards simply because they were a "favorite " not because they deserved it. Nursing school should be a fun and memorable time but attending Blake Austin ruined it for me. It was 1 horrible year I never want to revisit. Half the students that graduated with me never passed the NCLEX and are still not nurses to this day 3 years later!! Don't waste your time or 40,000 on this school for nursing. It was the worst school I've ever been to. The teachers are not helpful and definitely have their favorites of their own ethnicity. Teachers kept quitting the class until we had the directors teaching. This is a self taught class, you won't have anybody that will answer your questions without a serious attitude. From the financial office, to the skills teachers, and the director of nursing, they all had an attitude like they was doing you a favor when in reality your spending 3,000-4,000 dollars a month to get rude behavior from these unhelpful teachers who keep quitting. If I could do it all over again I'd choose a different LVN program. Every one of my instructors were heavily medicated for mental and psychiatric issues that rolled over into their professional life. Every single one of them were also retired military and felt that that profession should also be rolled over into our school setting. I had to have one of our instructors fired for sexual-harassment of my classmates and then the Director of nursing followed shortly after when the new Director Mary came in she made it very clear she hated her position as well as the students in my very small class we were forced to be vaccinated and our education was threatened we were told about three weeks before our program ended that if we did not get the jab we would not be allowed to finish the program while the class next-door was allowed exemptions and extensions . they sent us to a site for clinicals in Woodland were one of the instructors is currently involved in a lawsuit because of a physical altercation she had with the nurse on staff. Which is not really a surprise to the students on campus considering the way she treats them as well extremely rude aggressive and confrontational don't complement her on her outfit because she'll tell you you don't need to kiss her ass. Just avoid eye contact. All of the equipment is outdated the campus is filthy the bathrooms constantly needed attention we had to ask for hand soap toilet paper and seat covers. Cockroaches and crickets dead all over campus. Fruit flies in the student refrigerator and homeless men sleeping on the walkway. Garbage cans overflowing for days and weed smoking in the bathroom. Our class called the county several times to turn them in for violating covid protocols. We also had to call the board of nursing to have questions answered Graduation came and went and not one person from my class showed up. You want my opinion? This school is horrible! Well, not the teachers or the girls working the front desk. But the owner and the administrators are highly unprofessional, rude, and unorganized. I was told to withdraw from the program because they haven't dealt with a disabled student in 10 years and didn't know how to handle the situation!!!!! All the other schools handle disabled students with ease. The owner says she needs some time to speak to her attorney, and once she does I could possibly start on the next start date. So, the owner never got back to me so I called and left numerous messages, with no response. Every time i call to check status I'm forwarded to the voice mail. So, I called as my maiden name and immediately I'm assisted. I find out the next start dates from the admissions officer. And, 5 minutes later, they retracted their statements. lol This rude site administrator, Janice Moses, calls me and says she knows "All about me", she has seen all my emails and gotten all my voice mails and I just "Don't get it". She says, "Yes you can attend but we don't have any definitive start dates". Then I ask her why the admissions officer told me 2 different start dates 5 minutes before" Funny how once they determined it was "Nicol, the disabled girl" there aren't any new start dates. I have never had such a horrible experience and I have never had a professional person speak to me so rudely, especially not a school administrator. So, all the bad reviews on here show that the problem starts with the foundation of the school. Don't let the pretty decor fool you. They even had cockroaches in the classroom!!!!! Well for starters I am not a student but a customer, so from my point of view I love this place! You really can't beat the prices, and the girls who works here (whether on your hair, nails, etc.) always take their time. What they sometimes lack is obviously confidence in doing things because they can't always practice on real people- they make up for by taking their time and doing things slowly and correctly. Don't think you can go in and out in five minutes, they take a while to make sure things are perfect, they are being graded after all. The prices are awesome, but the students don't make a profit at all. The girls only make money through tips, so make sure to tip them! Not only are their prices amazing but their decoration is too cool! :) It's so nice inside, nothing looks cheap at all. I went in for information and to tour the campus. I'm a community college student looking at my nursing school options. I drove an hour. It's located in a run-down strip mall. The admissions & financial aid staff were lazy, rushed, and unprofessional. The financial aid woman spoke to me with annoyance and pity, like I'm a child, although I'm a fully self-supporting, hardworking young woman who has been through a lot. I was treated carelessly, and felt profiled because of my age. For the insane price tag of $35,000, stay far, far away from this LVN program. I felt sick when I left. read more

I would advise everyone I can not to join the vocational nursing program at this school as long as Michael Butcher is allowed to remain in his position running business as is being run. DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. Not only are the staff extremely lazy and do not care one bit about your education no matter how hard you try. I was also accused of forging signatures and didn't get an opportunity to prove they were true and right signatures. Students are angry about lack of support, guidance and the complaints of ridicule when asking questions. Outbursts are always on the brink. $30,000 dollars is an exorbitant fee to pay for an LVN course. Most students are economically challenged as it is, some work and are single parents. Rules of professional behavior are not modeled which leads to inability to appropriately enforce them and guide the student to assume better ways of dealing with challenges. Students enter eager to learn and better their lives, and leave almost with a defeated spirit. Pot smoking in the bathroom occurred while I was there. Don't know if it was ever followed with any kind of investigation or report to the state accreditation agencies. Sad place definitely cannot recommend it. read more

LVN Program 2015-2016 alumni Positives- worked with my full time, 8am to 5pm job because I took the night time LVN courses, and weekend clinicals. When you put in your full 100% you get positive results. Some instructors really do want to help. Negatives- sink or swim mindset (most Nurse programs are though). Teachers constantly being rotated through the school, making it difficult to focus steadily on material. Strict rules, enforced by cameras throughout school. My reason for two stars here, last minute changes all over the place which most of the time (not always) the student was accountable for knowing. on the flip side you become "more flexible," which is a huge part of Nursing. Side note: This program is for anyone who can self teach, while being guided by instructors when in school with questions. Overall, glad I did it, but I try not to look back on my experiences, just move forward. I will say it made me a more patient individual. It will push you to grow as well. read more

I just went here for nursing school I was very disappointed. The LVN program doesn't not allow you to be late or absent for the first 7 days which is fine. I got kicked out after the first day because my son went through a medical emergency where he had to go via ambulance to the hospital we were with him the entire night into the morning of next class. No exceptions were made and doctors notes aren't taken. The sad thing is everyone in this situation would be with their child to make sure they are ok. I even put forth a years worth of money to our daycare to now not even need it. They just treated me as a number and I called multiple times trying to talk to the director of nursing and they wouldn't even answer our calls or get us a call back. Nicole was very rude about everything. I am just shocked when they claim they care about my success but it is blatantly obvious they don't. I also was breastfeeding and it was hard my instructors were annoyed having to deal with me. Everyone in my class HATED IT. They have NO communication. Clinical sites HATE them. All their teaching supplies are OLD. My name is Nina. I wanted to share with you all my candid experience as a clinical medical assistant with phlebotomy student at Blake Austin College. My journey started late 2013 when I figured out I wanted to be in the medical field. R.N. programs had years of waiting programs, and they were very far away living in Vacaville. I talked to my parents and asked if they would help me with finances to start here. So I gave them a call and looked at my options. We started out with a tour. I Met Ms. Candy and Mr.A. who turned out to be the best teachers and role models I've ever had in my life besides family. I took a tour of the class and the environment. I got really excited. Now I know finances are a huge problem. I'm definitely from a low income family and I was worried. ..was this school too good to be true?! Turns out we were able to sit down with the financial aid counselors and I was able to take a low cost 6% loan. For someone as young as me, little to crap credit history...at the time no credit. And no job history and to get a loan like that was awesome. It shows they have faith in their students. my payments were affordable $131.48 for 2 years. My orientation was 1.3.13 ms. Candy was running the show. I'll never forget her words. "You're here because you want a career. You're tired of having a j.o.b. - just over broke." She's a very strong courageous honest woman. We had also met Mr. A who gave us our uniform vouchers, etc. He's an awesome teacher with a great sense of humour but he is humble and has a lot of experience to offer. My school started 1.13.14. It was a very nerve wrecking day. But it was the first day to the rest of my life. 10 months of the most learning, fun, intense, emotional, intimate, growing experiences you as a person and as a class go through. My first day of externship was 9.15.14. You do learn in school but it's nothing like what you learn on externship. Blake Austin college really does do one heck of a job preparing us for our externships. I was always hearing about how outstanding we are and how excellent and professional we are trained. I was assigned to dr. William O'Connor office in Vacaville for medical.assistant and Vaca valley hospital for phlebotomy externship. They offer externship assistance, so they assign you to outstanding externship sites as part of your tuition. For licensure and certification they do help you step by step with the process so it is impossible to get lost. I'm not exactly the swiftest learner and I got through it with their help!! Also when you graduate they offer job placement assistance. As of last week was hired as a Medical Assistant at California Medical Facility, Vacaville. If you are ready to dive in to the medical field and make your dreams come true without excuses, Blake Austin College is definitely for you. You will notice that the majority of positive reviews are not from graduates, but current or new students... While I do love the teachers, the AMA program was a total waste of money. First of all, the "degree" itself is so useless that hiring personnel actually tell you to remove it from your resume for fear of appearing like a sucker, none of the credits can be transferred to a real college, and the "career placement" is a joke. I get sporadic emails about part time positions in other counties...monster does more than that. That is job placement? AMA itself is a glorified computers course that forces you to spend 5 hrs in class every night with 2 hours of work, twiddling your thumbs for the rest. I will mention again, though, that the teachers were amazing and really fun to speak with. I admire their passion and wish I could say a single good thing about the program itself but it is a scam. Most of the people I attended with are working for minimum wage somewhere outside of the medical industry, or still unemployed. I had checked out a bunch of other schools but had decided on this school because of the feel I got when I walked into those doors... I not only felt like people were aiming for me to succeed but I also loved the classrooms and the cleanliness. Instructors who are almost an hour late, and then get points off if you are 5min late. Today I took part in the Solano County "California Statewide Medical and Health Disaster Exercise." Students from Blake Austin were on hand to do the "moulage" (fancy word for mock injuries). They gave me a fake head injury (like something heavy hit me in the forehead and split my skin) and did a great job! I toured many LVN technical schools over the years and never felt I would be successful or fit in. Many years went by and a co-worker told me about Blake Austin College and that it was located in Vacaville. Something told me to check it out and I did. The staff are amazing. Almost instantly after signing up everyone greeted me by name. At times when I was struggling, I was encouraged to keep pushing. Currently half way through the Dental Assisting program here and I can honestly say I love it! The instructors are tough but they care so much and want us all to succeed. They take so much of their time (a lot of the time outside of class) to help us out when we really need it. The program itself can be really tough at times but the instructors are always there to help you through it. I absolutely love how knowledgeable they all are, they teach by the book but they also give real life examples. Going into this program I wasn't sure how passionate I would be about dentistry but I'm finding I love it more and more each day. 10/10 highly reccomend the Dental Assisting program! I was leary in the beginning about choosing a career college. But after having a few friends who have went thru the program and speaking to medical assistants in the field who went to this school i was convinced to at least give it a try. When you enroll you have 7 days to decide to whether the class is for you or not with no strings attached. After my 1st few days there I understood why everyone speaks so highly and recommended this school. The instructors there make a perfect team balancing each other out and are truly sincere about people succeeding in their career. When you meet them you get the chance to understand that they know a lot and they want to pass it along to make you the best you can be. They train you not just the theory or practical part but also about teamwork, being prepared and how to be successful in a competitive industry. Hands down I would recommend this school to anyone who takes their future serious and wants and career.
