It's a perfect spot for a quick getaway from the city, whether you're going for sunrise, sunset, or just a relaxing day outdoors. After can hit up Bear Chase Brewery close by.

Friendly staff Decent amount of extra weekend activities Movies Putt putt Clean campground Amazing views Location to harpers ferry park is truly unbeatable Affordable pancake breakfast ($1 for 3) Now for the reasons why this place still only deserves 2 stars. I emailed about 2 things before booking our stay. 1. That the pool would still be open because it was late in the season and 2. The gym would be open because it was closed around this time last year for Halloween setup (in early September). The response said both would be open. The gym was closed again for Halloween, full stop. Despite my asking ahead about it, I was given bad info. As for the pool, let me start by saying it is my daughter's absolute favorite part. It was open Friday. I stuck my hand in and it was COLD. To quote the few brave enough to swim, "who forgot to turn on the heater!?" It was pretty cold last year too, but i managed to get in it twice. This year, there's no way. My daughter decided to wait until saturday to swim. On saturday there was a sign saying it was closed for maintenance. So yeah, we didn't get to swim and my daughter was in tears disappointed. Almost seems like they should reimburse people for the activity fee when the main attraction is down for most of their stay. The jumping pad hours make no sense. We checked in around 4 on Friday. The pad was deflated and closed. There was a small group of kids standing around waiting for it to open (it was starting to inflate). It was open for the rest of the day after 5, and stayed busy that entire time (we could see it from our cabin). On Saturday morning my kids waited for it to open again. My daughter thought it would be 8. Nope! I assumed 10. Still nope! We left for harpers ferry around 11 at it still wasn't open. For a saturday that is crazy. There was a group of at least 20 kids waiting with no clear indication when it opens. Part of the problem is that a staff member needs to be there to watch. It's the only campground I've been to with a jump pad that requires a staff member to be present. They might want to make the hours clearer to guests and their kids to set expectations instead of making it a literal guessing game. They should make roads one way and post clear signage about it. People go pretty much whatever way they want on roads that barely fit one car. I went the way I was directed at the front desk and parked in my spot across from our cabin. As I was backing out, which is a tight space, a car was coming from the other (wrong) direction. I had to pull back into my spot so they could get through. You can see this happen other times where people are going opposite directions on the small roads, which adds to the confusion. Another thing, one of our "neighbors" parked their car in the middle of the street for at least 3 hours. Most of the cabins near us were empty, otherwise people wouldn't have been able to get through. It can be a little like the wild west at times driving there. Finally, they had a decent amount if extra activities. Sadly, over half of them came with an extra cost, usually over $10 per person per activity. I was sad no hayride this year as that was a highlight for my family last year. At the end iof the day my kids had fun, despite some disappointment. I almost think they should stop charging the activity fee at this point in the season since things are often at reduced capacity. That way when you don't get the full summer experience, at least you didn't pay the extra fee for it.

Make sure when visiting the campgrounds that you have a lantern available as the units are significantly darker than you might expect. Magnolia was very clean on the interior. At the exterior, the landscape slopes toward the cottage more than we thought was comfortable. The showers and dishwashing facilities were in good condition. This region generally has quite a few different attractions for nature lovers including a long hike along the Appalachian trail nearby and proximity to quaint small towns. Last, but definitely not least, Nick and his partner were among the most accommodating and friendly hosts one could ask for. When we had difficulty setting a campfire they generously gifted us some leftover materials to start our fire and advised us on best practices! We recommend that anyone interested in having a weekend away in nature investigate the Treehouse camp!

A bit of a mixed bag for me at Cunningham Falls…read more.. I was excited to find a listing of parks that supposedly had wheelchair accessible trails. I've never been to Cunningham Falls before and the idea of seeing a waterfall seemed lovely. However, the accessible boardwalk has strips on pretty much everything board which made me feel like I was riding a very angry horse. Each bump shot pain up my spine. I'm writing this a day later and I still hurt, and I think I'm a pretty tough chick... and the view of the falls was mostly blocked and not worth the actual pain. The Falls is more like a small stream of water that splashes down some rocks. It's a soothing noise but I was expecting something more grandiose... I suppose I could blame climate change. Most of the old stream beds are dry. We also checked out the "south beach" which I enjoyed. There's plenty of pavement, and packed gravel. I couldn't get close to the water, but that's okay because it was a sunny day and I prefer to stick to the shade. I was impressed by the fact that every picnic table has a grill nearby. If I lived closer I'd like to think I'd come to the south beach often, hide in the trees near the river, grill something delicious... but I was a several hours long trip from Dundalk, so it's unlikely that I'll return. It was a nice day-trip though. I don't regret going.

The bathhouse was clean and had hot water. Most campsites only have lukewarm or cold water. There were also an abundance of toilet facilities and they were well maintained/cleaned. The view of the Potomac was breathtaking and the only downfall was that the camping sites are relatively close to each other both on the mountain and at the river's edge. I do recommend this center, however, and we will likely return when back in the area!

She drives around all day smoking cigarette after cigarette and rents you a space from her car (which I guess is the office). There seems to be no rules regarding what junk you can pile outside your RV. The rent here is $750 monthly plus electric. This place charges double what other parks in the vicinity charge for electricity. When it rains you have flood water running down the middle of the road. If you are planning to stay in the short term contractor spots be prepared to have a lot of base material to level your RV. Spaces are very tight and unkempt. First RV Resort I've ever known that requires their tenants to mow and/or weedeat their spaces. Also you basically sit on an ant hill here so be prepared to deal with ants. If you are lucky enough to get a picnic bench at your site it is most likely in pitiful condition. Rusty nails sticking out and barely standing. The employees that man the guard shack are very nice and the maintenance department are very nice respectful people. Watch out for Jeri (manager of short term contractor sites) she is toxic and completely unprofessional.

We stayed here about 10 years ago and it reminded me of a poorly maintained trailer park.  I…read morerecently came across some Youtube videos reviewing this campground and it appeared to have changed names and become a "resort".  I called and made the booking with the office, not as friendly as one would expect.  I drove up to the kiosk to check in and gave the woman my name.  She gave me this puzzled look, I then said "I have a booking" and her reply was "why didn't you tell me that", in this argumentative tone.  I was so taken aback with her response.  I asked if there were other sites available and if so could we be assigned to another site.  Right away her reply was "that's all we have".  I drove down towards the assigned site and right away it appeared quiet but my site was between campers that were unoccupied.  In fact most campers appeared to be stored there, not weekend campers.  My site was littered with plastic bottles, paper and plastic utensils.  I called the office right away and a woman answered.  I asked if I could move to another site and I was told, nope, that's all we have as other people are coming in over the weekend.  I explained to her this is not at all what I had expected.  The woman then stated "you can leave if you want and we will refund your money.  I hooked up the camper and drove to the exit, left and drove home.  It was a waste of time and money driving out to Front Royal. This is NOT a resort, it's more like a run down trailer park with a ton of stored campers.
