My absolute favorite antique shop in Lawrence. The best and most eclectic treasures! Don't go there--leave it all for meeeee!

It's actually called Lawrence Antique Mall. I spent a good amount of time in here and it was busy…read morebecause it was on a Saturday after the Christmas Parade. Place has 3 floors total full of a variety of items to choose. Some areas you could barely walk through. It was difficult to find anyone to help you. I found several items with no prices on them. One item I really wanted, so they called the dealer and no answer. So they offered to take my number and hold it until further notice. Most of the things were over priced. On 1 item I asked if they would take a little less and made an offer, but she said I can only go 10% less because it's rare. I said I would take it. Then she went to take the tag off and said I can't do 10% because it's less then $30.00. The item was $28.00, so only $2.00 from receiving the 10% discount. Yes, I went ahead and bought it only because it's a Christmas present! Just the principle of the situation. Before I paid I simply asked if they charged a transaction fee if I used a debit or credit card. I was told that they charge 3% extra. I was just a little short of having enough cash, so I had to go the other route. After looking my receipt (I always ask for one) over and comparing it to my merchandise prices it was incorrect. In fact they charged 4% transaction fee. So my $28.00 "rare" item turned into being $29.12 plus 9.3% tax on top of that price, just an example. Another problem was the bathroom was closed or out of order. I'm not sure if it was really out of order or if they just didn't want all the people using it? If you needed to use the restroom it was like 10 blocks one way down the street! Needless to say I wasn't real happy with my overall experience here.

The third floor is small but worth checking out but use caution going up that odd stairwell. Overall you can find great finds like any other antique store here

I love all things arts and crafts. And someone at The Etc. Shop seems to too. There's all kinds of…read moreFrank Lloyd Wright and Charles Renne Macintosh inspired jewelry and accessories. Of course there are other things too -- that's where the Etc. comes in -- but it's always the art deco stuff that attracts my attention. The posh Brighton collection is apparently The Etc. Shop claim to fame. The coordinated accessories, which include shoes, jewelry, watches, sunglasses, belts and more, are very nice, but they're not any more attractive than the other accessories throughout the store and a bit pricey for my taste. If I splurge here, I'll take the ultra cool Macintosh-inspired lamps over the pricey-but-average Brighton items any day.

ANOTHER Brighton shop! How many does Kansas need?…read more This one sells Brighton, Italian charms, and Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home furnishings (lamps, furniture, pottery). Because of this, it is a bit more interesting than just the boring Brighton collection (which is their main focus, carrying the whole line). A bit expensive, but then again charms do come from Italy, and the jewelry is high quality being hand made sterling silver. The home decor is quite nice, being an art deco (FLW influence) style. But the Brighton does overpower, making me gag a little on all the coordinated, shiny, accessories. If I were re-decorating, this is the place to come to give my place some stylish touches, but otherwise...might just have to pass by next time I'm in Lawrence...
