This place is great if you love live music and a fun crowd. They do have food. My husband ordered the crunch wrap & I had the double smash burger. Both were delicious. Bartenders are fun as well and offer great service. When we were here on a Thursday, they had two different bands going on in different rooms. Check out their event schedule on their website. They offer daily specials. On Wednesdays it's half off wine. If you're a wino- maybe stick to the prosecco or order something different. Wine selection is sutter home. Fun vibes overall read more

My goodness, every dish we got looked like it would be the best thing that we ever tasted. If only the flavor packed as much punch as the visuals, I'd be there twice a week! Everything was good but the meat seemed to lack the desired seasoning which left it up to the toppings and condiments to carry the day against the thick (bland) buns/tortillas. Because of that, the Fantasma smash burger, birria tacos and Crunchwrap couldn't rise to *greatness* But there was plenty of *goodness* there and elsewhere on the menu to keep the masses happy. read more

Another place that I almost want to keep to myself so the secret does not get out (it might already be out). Kitchen operates out of Woodlands Tavern. Online ordering available. $6 smashburgers on Wednesdays. Prices are so reasonable, particularly for quantity/quality of food. The birria tacos are lights out, 10 out of 10, two thumbs way up and a chefs kiss. Bar food at its finest! read more

Blackbird has some of the best wings I've tasted. We had the Alabama white and the garlic. Both sauces are amazing and the wings were cooked perfectly. The service at Woodlands Tavern is top notch. The bartenders are very quick to refill your glass. My wife and I sat on the patio on our visit, which is a really good sized space with ample seating. Woodlands exudes a very relaxed vibe, and if I didn't have plans for the day I could've spent the rest of it here, chillin', sippin', and people watching. read more

Located inside Woodlands Tavern. It's nice to go to a bar with decent food and not just your typical bar food. The birria Crunchwrap was fire. Savory and delicious. There was one on every table. The atomic fireballs are Mac and cheese balls. It was fried to perfection, the only thing I would ask for differently would be to have the sauce on the side so you could dip to your liking. Also, for a name like atomic fireballs, it is not very spicy at all. But overall, food was great, will definitely be back. Probably going to try the shrimp tacos next time. read more

After seeing all the rave reviews, I couldn't resist checking this place out. I have nothing good to say, sadly. The food tasted like grease and lacked flavor. The birria tacos were terrible- don't go to this place for these, so was the smash burger- I actually spit it out, the crunch wrap was edible and the potato wedges were delicious, thank god because i was starving after this disappointing meal. For bar food, half drunk Ohioans may love this stuff; but for this NY/NJ born foodie, I'll never waste my money here again. read more

This place is like hidden in a tavern which was very neighborhood friendly. We sat & got our drinks very fast. The kitchen didn't open until 4 so we we only had to wait like just a few minutes. Got the 3 Birria tacos & wedges. The wedges were hot & seasoned good. The tacos were crispy & very delicious. The consume was good but it needed something. Maybe a little more spice or something. But I was very pleased & will certainly return! read more

Wow! This place is a hidden gem, I wouldn't be surprised to see it blow up in Columbus. It's located inside woodland tavern, we were lucky enough to get a spot at the bar and ordered there. The atomic fireballs were amazing, very creamy Mac and cheese inside and the aioli added a nice kick (I didn't think they were too spicy) I had the birria tacos and they were AMAZING. So flavorful and delicious. It's so simple (the beef, cheese, tortilla and onion) but I think that's what makes it good bc you get to enjoy the flavors in it. Boyfriend had the birria Crunchwrap and in his words "it f***in slaps" . There was nothing left on his plate. We had to practically roll out of there bc it was so good and filling. Can't wait to go back and try more. The only thing I will say is at night (especially on a Saturday) the bar is busy. If you want your food hot and fresh, make sure you keep an eye out for your food by the kitchen. I don't believe woodlands has servers. read more

Wow, the food here is delicious. We had the chips and salsa with queso. I will say this dish is kinda pricey for what it is. Chips are dirt cheap and you get a small tray of them and small cups of the dips. Not worth it, IMO. We also had the smashburger which was delicious and the shrimp tacos. The shrimp tacos are fried in a batter and are to die for! They're light and big. The shrimp is tasty and fresh. Not greasy. And they're topped with delicious toppings. I would definitely get them again. The beer list is comprehensive. The service in the afternoon on a weekday, during happy hours, is limited. And there are no Happy Hour specials. You might have to order at the bar. We did have someone stop by our table periodically after we initially ordered. The ambiance is that of a dark bar. There is outside patio seating, though. We will likely go back for the food. read more

Located inside of Woodland Tavern. The street corn was immaculate and the birria tacos were cooked to perfection. Service -- satisfactory. Also, the bar area is really nice place to hang while you wait for your food. read more

My friend and I went last night ( Wednesday) 6pm and this place wasn't what we thought it was. The service was absolutely awful the only waitress they did have seems drunk. She wasn't friendly at all in fact seemed annoyed that we were even there to begin with. We ordered an appetizer and our meals at the same time thinking at least we'll have something to munch on while we wait for our food. NOPE both our meals and appetizers came out same time ok no worries. But the food had no taste I mean it was bland no salt the " wedge fries " were burnt and super crispy they weren't edible. On top of that all that we were the only ones asked to put " a card on file" even though we were/paid in cash..... a few people came after us and they weren't asked to put a card down. Anyways the place itself looked decent 5/10 Service 1/10 Food 4/10 Not a place I'll return too read more

Everything is good. Great ambiance. Weekly specials on the blackboard. Very good service

Blackbird Kitchen is an up-and-coming concept located in Woodlands Tavern. Everything here is just great. My favorite is the Birria Tacos. The meat is delicious and the consume goes really well with it. The potato wedges are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the rosemary salt makes the perfect seasoning. All the dishes here are balanced in flavor and color and are really fresh and presented well. Some dishes even have these little marinated carrot slices on the side, which are surprisingly pleasant. I hardly ever find a place with food I like, much less love, but this place is one I won't hesitate to come back to. Next time I think I'll get the smash burger or crunch wrap, as they both looked really good. read more

Great place for social interaction, good live music, TVs for sports and those WINGS.. baby.. find the flavor you like .

Great food and service, loved the smash burger, Mac & cheese balls, crunch wrap, shrimp tacos! It was a zoo though - didn't know there was live music, while they were a good band it was way too loud, to the point could not even talk to the person sitting right next to me. Definitely going back, just not on a band Friday night. read more

I had heard whispers of this great new kitchen within Woodlands Tavern. I'm always up for some good authentic food found off the beaten path. Since I'm not sitting in bars drinking currently due to the pandemic, I decided to place a dinner order online. That is always tricky for me because my husband is allergic to eggs. I ordered a little bit of everything because I wanted to be able to taste what they had to offer. I just couldn't resist. I felt a little at east about ordering online because they had a dedicated notes area. So I requested all aioli to be on the side and no mayo on the burger due to an egg allergy. I placed the order and crossed my fingers, hoping that they would read the note and take it to heart. When I arrived at Woodlands and made my way to the back at the end of the bar they asked if I wanted to place an order. I let them know that I had placed an order for pick up online. That was when a woman came out from the kitchen to personally speak to me. She kindly let me know that many of their items have egg in it. For example, their buns and their atomic fireballs. She waited to do my order because she wanted to speak to me directly. I have never had that happen before. That a restaurant cares so much to get the order right, but cares about the health of those ordering. She was amazing. She allowed me to change out the atomic balls for an additional hamburger. She left all aioli off the food to ensure that none got on the food items. She made sure I was pleased with the substitutions. She was friendly and caring. I could not have been more happy and I had not tried the food yet. We dove in when I arrived at home and everything was delicious. The Birria tacos were delectable, full of flavor. The did come with accompanying sauces. The red, almost liquid sauce was my favorite. Dipping the Birria taco in that added another dimension to the taco. I loved it. My husband was thrilled with his burger. He was also impressed with the flavoring. The fries were crisp. The crispy shrimp taco was also great. The pickled red onion played off the spicy sauce I added to it so well. In the future I will try the Atomic Fireballs. I can not rave enough about the customer care that I received from the kitchen employee at Blackbird Kitchen. The food was done so tastefully balanced. The flavors worked in harmony and were so pleasing to me. You should give their amazing food a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

So I went here 2 days back and I'm going to tell you i absolutely hated it here. You might already know I'm not coming back. The burger was not cooked at all. I don't know if it was because the way the burger was cooked or just me but my stomach hurt so bad afterwards. read more

I'm tentative to even post this review because I don't want one of my secret spots to blow up but it's too good not to share. If you're looking for birria tacos - this is your place! Blackbird kitchen operates out of Woodlands Tavern on 3rd Ave in Grandview. The food is phenomenal! $8 for 2 birria tacos with simmered beef with red chiles, melted cheese, cilantro and onions. On the side is consume (like a beef stew) for dipping! The tacos are filling and mouthwatering. Also highly recommend the crispy potato wedges on the side. For an appetizer, the atomic fireballs are spicy Mac and cheese bites with a Sirarcha aioli (on Monday's they are only $3). You can stay and eat at Woodlands which is a casual bar or also place an order to go. Hurry and go before the secret is out! read more

Outstanding Tacos! Unique take on the dish...incredible Flavor! Would go back if traveling to Columbus!

The food was awesome! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is that it is a kitchen in a bar called Woodlands Tavern and I had a hard time finding a place to sit because of the bar patrons. I called ahead to make sure they had alcohol but the person who simply answered 'hello' didn't explain the logistics. I highly recommend the Quesa Birria! read more

Really great place! So glad I looked at Yelp for the recommendation in my hotel. It's actually a tavern. Woodland Tavern with Blackbird Kitchen inside. Not your run of the mill bar food. It's a bit elevated and fresh.. They were so busy, but that didn't deter the good service I had. I had the Wednesday Cheeseburger special, Spicy Mac n' Cheese bites (not that spicy), and since I love Burria Tacos, I got them to go for lunch tomorrow. Everything was SO DELICIOUS!!! I didn't stay too long, but the atmosphere was very inviting and the live music was great.. Highly recommend. read more

Like other reviews have mentioned, they're located in the back of Woodlands Tavern. If I were to eat here again, I would not order carry out. I think I'd only order dine in. I came right on time to pick up my carry out order and they were backed up a bit which was fine. I waited about 10 minutes longer than the expected ready time. I didn't like that I had to awkwardly wait by the kitchen and get in the way of the bartenders and servers. I think it would be best to just order from the bar and eat your food there. Otherwise, you might feel like you're getting in the way by standing around for your order. The food itself was somewhere between mediocre and good. I thought the Nashville chicken taco was better than the birria taco. The birria tacos were honestly disappointing. I love birria tacos, and the ones I got from here didn't taste as good as others I have tried elsewhere. The service was good despite the longer than expected wait time. The bartenders and kitchen staff gave me updates while I was waiting. I was never ignored which showed they were attentive. I also like that they take allergies seriously like another review mentioned. 4/5 stars! read more

The food is good and service was great. Noise level is on the higher end as a lot of people come to watch sports and or concerts.

Oooooh my goodness where do I start? I had the surf and turf taco which was so good. Very fresh ingredients and disappeared quickly it was so tasty. Then let's talk about the corn ...my husband and I have never had anything like it. The kernels just fall off of the cob when you bite into it. The flavors that surround it kick your tastebuds into high gear. I've NEVER eaten a corn cob with such enthusiasm, not wanting to leave one kernel on it. I will definitely bring back friends and family! You MUST TRY Blackbird Kitchen food. Kudos to the chef ! read more
