He was friendly, and gracious, without an overly formal attitude. His taste in music was spot on, and helped the romantic mood on our special evening. Thank you John and black tie limo! I was planning a surprise 70th birthday night out for my dad and mom. I talked to multiple limo services who had insane rates, weren't flexible, or had poor customer service. I got on with John and he listened to my story, got excited about being a part of making it a great night, super flexible, and most competitive rate options. He also answered whenever I called back with questions. Knowing it was a surprise he got me in contact with the driver and helped a whole evening of surprises and destinations turn out better than I could have hope! The limo was a 6 person black limo, clean, and in great shape! My parents loved the driver, the limo and called it one of the best evenings they've had. I am in Texas and was able to coordinate everything with ease for my parents night out in MN. I'll only be using black tie limo for any car, limo or ride service going forward when I return home. This rating will be broken into two separate categories - one for the party bus service and our driver and the other for the owner, Bruce. Party Bus - our driver arrived on time and at the location we specified. Joe was a great guy. Took us on the route we wanted and waited outside promptly. The bus was in good shape. Owner/Overall experience - THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I talked with Joe our driver about staying an extra hour during the course of the night and we settled upon a price of which I paid him cash. I check my credit card statement the following week and I have an additional charge for $162. I email John (manager) and Bruce (owner) and ask about this. They inform me that is was for the extra hour. I then explain that I spoke with their driver Joe and paid cash assuming this was a simple misunderstanding, boy was I wrong! Bruce tries to tell me Joe doesn't have the authority to make deals during the night and that by making the deal for the extra hour I was "stealing from his business" when in fact Bruce stole from me by charging me twice. I try to reason with him which was nearly impossible so Bruce decides hes going to threatening me by getting authorities involved. I'm baffled at this point because if anyone is going to get in trouble by authorities it's going to be Black Tie Limo. Bruce then goes on to find out my place of employment via LinkedIn and says he will be calling the CEO and HR of my company to let them know how "dishonest" of a person I am for stealing from his business. He keeps threatening to ruin my career and says that I have gotten into a battle in which "I have bitten off more than I can chew." After these email threats wouldn't stop I sought legal advice from an attorney who sent two letters to Bruce stating all the Minnesota Laws he had broken by 1. Charging me with an unauthorized payment 2. The acts of slander he threatened to bring to my employer and threaten my employment. Conclusion - I have not heard back from Bruce and Black Tie Limousine and they have taken my $162 at which this point I honestly don't care about. I just don't want some other poor soul to deal with this god awful company and have to go through what I have. I'll be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota. There are so many other transportation services in Minneapolis - AVOID THESE GUYS AT ALL COSTS. read more

The wrong bus was sent (only fit 20 people instead of the 35 person one we ordered and paid for). The driver was EXTREMELY rude--he took 45 minutes out of our drive time to argue that we hadn't paid and he wouldn't move until he got his money (we had to call the booking company and have them talk to him...!). After it was confirmed that we paid, he then had the gall to tell us that he hadn't been tipped yet. We said that we were planning on doing that at the end of the night based on service (we actually had $150 in cash set aside for him), but nope--he said he wouldn't drive until he got his tip and that he needed at least $100. We gave him $110. We went to two bars. The first pick up he took 15 minutes to get to. We had found a parking spot for him to pull into so he wasn't in traffic, but he still yelled at us that we took too long to get on the bus and that he "wasn't going to pay a ticket just because we were slow." It was seriously under 2 minutes to get the 35 people on and that was because it was January in MN and some people were waiting inside the bar after he didn't arrive for 10 minutes. At the second bar he texted to let us know that we needed to be faster getting on and off. It was about a paragraph about how we were taking too long. After that, we decided to have him just drive us back because he was making our night miserable. At the drop off site, me and a few other people were picking up trash when he stood up and YELLED at us to get off his bus NOW. I turned and told him we were picking up trash, but if he wanted us off, we'd just leave it there for him. He shut up after that. He absolutely ruined the night. I was a sober passenger and I can tell you that none of his complaints were warranted. People were a little loud, but it's a PARTY BUS of 35 people. The service was ordered so that people could be safe and have a good time and he was a total jerk. I called to complain to the service and before I could get any of my story out, the guy said "thank you for calling--I need to hear when things don't go well." and hung up. He seemed genuine, but I'm not sure how he planned on dealing with the situation since he didn't get my name, the driver's name, the date we used the service, or any of the story. All I said was that I was a passenger who used the service and the driver was rude and I wanted to log a complaint. For $750 ($860 if you include tip), we got the wrong bus, had to cram in together, were harassed through the night, and got to deal with a cranky driver. What else can you say but that we cut the party short because we didn't want to have to deal with him anymore? read more

I just used Black Tie for the 2nd time...We used them for a dance for 4 teenage couples. They were fabulous! Ryan was the driver and he was so great with the kids, he was extremely thoughtful, polite and respectful. We hired the limo for 5 hours and I was so happy we did. Ryan drove the kids to have their pictures done, dinner, to the dance, to DQ and then back to our house. The limo was fabulous, clean, inviting, modern, great in general. I can't not say enough good things except that I will definitely use them again and am planning to in the summer. read more

It should be 0 stars. We had a group Christmas lights tour set up, and it happened to snow that evening, we were in contact with the driver and told him we would still like to go. We got a call back saying the driver didn't want to drive in the weather, so we said fine, but we want our money back. After several calls and an offer of a gift card, which was useless since we had out of town guests this particular weekend, we have not received our refund, again THEY CANCELED ON US!! We called several times, the driver said he would have to talk to the owner, who was out of town, and would call us in the next 2 days. NEVER received a call from the owner. Still have not got our refund and continue to get the run around. Do not book with this company! read more

No Stars for me. This place has horrible customer service. We reserved a limo for a night out with friends a month in advance. There were multiple communications back and forth via email, even communication 4 days prior to our reservation. We found out hours before we were to be picked up that they canceled our reservation. They had the wrong phone number (even though the correct one was in the emails back and forth) and claimed they tried calling and emailing several times to confirm because apparently the email 4 days prior wasn't confirmation enough. They called the wrong number supposedly, multiple times and only tried emailing one time the day of stating they emailed several times, which was clearly a lie. After hours of back and forth and catching them in lies over the phone they finally got another company to cover our reservation....an hour and a half late. This was a Christmas lights tour and due to them being an hour and a half late we only saw a handful of lights due to most being shut off by the time we got out to them. They refused to provide a discount or refund but told us they would like to book with us again. Really?! After the way we were treated and being told that it was our fault for not confirming I will never use again and hope everyone else reading this reconsiders. Sorry, not our fault they could not call the correct number to confirm and made an assumption without any verbal or written confirmation that we wanted to cancel. Don't they know it's never the customers fault? TERRIBLE PLACE. DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE WAITING FOR A LIMO TO NEVER SHOW UP. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. read more

Used Black Tie Limo for my daughters wedding. Very disappointed with the service and quality of the vehicle they sent. We asked for a black limo bus to hold at least 22 people. They showed up in a renovated white shuttle bus that barely fit 17 people in it. In addition the driver took the wedding party to the wrong place resulting in a rush to get pictures done. Would not recommend them. read more
