At the scheduled pick up time, I called the dispatcher, who was going to check with the driver, but my call was "dropped". After calling back it went right to voicemail, so I left a message and hung up. No returned call, no cab. So I went and downloaded the Uber app, set up an account, and in 10 minutes had a ride. He has been outstanding and very competitive with pricing especially if you are a reliable repeat customer. I try to avoid meter taxis and always negotiate a flat rate with Car Services. And I repeat our agreement before ending the call. Mr Mohamed is very professional and I try to book directly with him in the evening. Today was especially tough for we had ice everywhere early this morning and I had a medical procedure at 8:15 WAY out in Plymouth by the City Hall and I live approx 25-30 miles away. I was very fortunate to get Jamal again and he was very very expert in his driving -- striving to go quicker when he could and still handling the ice with great experience expertise. I felt 100 % safe. I fully understand the social humanitarian financial appeal of Uber Lyft. But I have taken many taxi's in my life in many cities and having full confidence in the driver's expertise especially in bad weather is very important to me. And Viking's drivers have proven track records with the owner Mr Mohamed who runs a very " tight ship". We are fortunate to have him in the Twin Cities. A couple times I got charged extra for time as the driver stalled before picking us up or parked blocks away, but I got it back disputing the charge in-app. Upfront pricing makes it infinitely better than the tradition cab model as far as the getting ripped off potential, besides better cars and service. Uber's been more expensive lately though, making it about 20% higher than Lyft on average in Minneapolis. Lyft's app is sketchy however and drivers less reliable.
