Total bonus: all of their drivers and their dispatch people are absolutely delightful. Kind, helpful, and funny. I used GDS the first time I ever needed to courier anything, and now I hired them for the second time as well. Their prices are totally reasonable, especially if you compare them to FedEx 24-hour or Next Day services - GDS is half the price, and delivers in a fraction of the time! (Downtown Mpls to Eden Prairie in 3 hours was about 30 bucks. That's a good deal.) I thought their website was a little confusing, so I ended up calling both times and got right through to an employee. I got a confirmation email when it was delivered too, which helped me rest easy because both times I was sending confidential personal information. We have been using General for our day-of delivery needs for several years now, and they have always been helpful, consistent, thorough and timely. If we ever have any small issue with timing or such, they have always made it right. (very rare occurrence) Their pricing is consistent with the market, reasonable and fair. We had a gal deliver us several large boxes today, and she was well ahead of schedule and displayed extremely good spirit and a very positive attitude! This is my first ever--and likely only ever--Yelp review...which says a lot about this company. I called GDS at 4:22pm today because we were in a time crunch and needed a large package delivered to a difficult location ASAP. Between two of us we had called nearly a dozen local couriers (including those purporting to be 24 hour services that can get any package anywhere) and NONE of them--not ONE--was able to accommodate our request. Not only was GDS able to deliver, but they delivered in a timely manner and were the friendliest and most helpful of every company we called. Also! as someone who uses courier services on a regular basis throughout the country, their prices are incredibly reasonable. I don't think you can go wrong with this company. read more

I called at 4:15 on a Thursday afternoon and needed an envelope delivered within 2 and a half hours in rush hour. The driver picked up the envelope within 15 minutes from the call and was delivered within an hour for a reasonable price. I couldn't be happier with the service I received today. read more

I purchased some furniture at the annual Blu Dot warehouse sale and this was the option for delivery. It cost about $60 for a van delivery of 2 tall dressers and 3 large mirrors and they had everything from same day delivery to any day the following week. Unfortunately, I had to go out of town prior to my scheduled time. I called and left a message (on Sunday) and promptly received a call back (same day). The owner emailed and texted the next day and then worked with Blu Dot to reschedule. One mover showed up on time and the pieces arrived in great shape. Extremely poor professionalism! Recently received a by General Delivery the boxes on the pallets were blatantly damaged and were delivered with no bill of lading. The owner of the company, who was the delivery driver, would not even acknowledge in writing the boxes were damaged when he dropped them off only 3/4 up my driveway! He merely walked away. read more

I had been calling multiple delivery services to receives quotes for furniture delivery and encountered the first review about a successful delivery from West Elm, which is the location of my furniture that I need delivered thus I was excited to find a place with recommended good service and prices. I was leaving messages with companies on a Sunday although I plan to schedule the delivery later in the week and didn't expect to hear back until later. I also read about another reviewer contacting the company on a Sunday so figured that it was alright to leave a message. I was unaware that the number listed for the company was a personal cell phone. I even suspected I had the wrong number as the owner didn't answer with any company specific greeting. When I stated that I would like a quote for a delivery, I was told "No, I'm walking my dog!" I was additionally lectured for thinking that Sunday was a business day for any company. The remainder of the phone call was equally exceedingly rude and unprofessional. Extremely disappointed! read more
