The breakfast area was busy and me and my three kids sat down in the area when "Jon" from this…read morehotel came to the table and started moving around our plates and silverware. I moved them back and when my kids started to eat cereal, he moved them again. I asked him to not move my kids' silverware and such and he started explaining that those are "his" and not for us. I told him to not touch my kids' silverware and such and it was extremely odd and uncomfortable. He said again they were "his" and then asked me, "do you want to do the dishes?" He said we could sit where we were at but that we weren't supposed to be sitting where we were at... Also, my 7 year had dropped a fork and knife, Jon put it back on a place setting - she had put it on the side on the table so as not to use it- it looks like someone will have eaten from a fork and knife that had fell on the floor. I took a picture of the area. I talked to the front desk and they explained that the set tables weren't for breakfast. She also acknowledged there was nothing that says that anywhere and then tried to make it seem as if I should have know. Please see the picture. I don't write reviews hardly ever, this situation was extremely weird. If they don't want people to sit in that area, they could close that area off - no idea what they were thinking. The front desk was not helpful. Please look at the picture for context. The gentleman in the white sweatshirt is where we had sat down. There was absolutely nothing which said not to sit where we sat. I don't think someone should tell a guest, "do you want to do the dishes?" And extremely bad to put silverware on a place setting that a child handled it and had dropped on the floor.

This is a pretty decent place in the mid-range price scale. My room was of average size with one…read morequeen bed. The bedding seemed new and was fresh, it had a pleasantly firm mattress. The dresser sported a flat screen, high-def television, a refrigerator and a microwave. A desk included a light equipped with two individually controlled bulbs and two grounded outlets for your laptop and cell phone charger. A hot breakfast is included in your room rate, including scrambled eggs and sausage links, roll-your-own waffles, fruit, yogurt, cereal, bread and bagels to toast, orange and apple juice, coffee and tea. It's a bit of a challenge to find, you can see it from US 53 just north of Exit 70 on I-94, but this is a newly developed and highly congested retail/restaurant/lodging center. A curve here, a turn to the left there, and suddenly, there's the Baymont Inn. I checked in, then went into Eau Claire to get some work done. Getting back to the Baymont coming from the other direction was even more of a challenge but eventually, I got there. Overall, I would say I received value for the rate I paid. I might add, I booked through an online service. I believe I paid less than you might if you just walked in off the street. And yes, I'd stay here again.

However, on the second to last day, the owner had charged us $550 for a brand new mattress, due to the one we were using becoming soiled. I personally cleaned and sanitized the mattress back to being white. We were paying roughly $1800 a month. We were also persistent on asking about the mattress cost; we were willing to pay it regardless, however, it kept being pushed into right before we left, and we had to pay before we left, instead of a payment plan like we had all discussed.

Pool area was bigger than I expected and has two dedicated bathroom/shower rooms. We enjoyed swimming and hanging in the hot tub when we had extra time. Complimentary breakfast was OK, it was clean and stocked well. For cereal, yogurt, toast, bagels, etc; it hits all those items spot on. The waffle machine was good too. Eggs, bacon and sausage...I mean, it's not great but it's there if you want it. The attached travel center actually had a hunch of stuff to do and the Wheaton Family Restaurant was pretty good. Overall a good value option in North Eau Claire.

I used to stay at this hotel on a regular basis as I like the set up. As of this year they have…read moredecided to charge every customer for a specialty breakfast charge at $10 a day. What is this charge you may ask?....That is a good question because I do not see any other options appearing in the breakfast area along with the spread. If this is to accommodate for a diet of non pork sausages, that should be a charge to that specific customer and not everyone else paying for this option. Also this is an extra charge on a card outside of the room charge that they do not tell you about until you arrive onsite to check in. I find it a bit dishonest and offensive to pay for someone else's food restrictions. This payment should only come from the food restricted patrons. I do find it a bit suspicious that this charge is also separate from the room charge. I have since boycotted this Hotel and I will tell you that before this suspicious transaction I was happy to stay here. At the very least make sure to have this charge listed when booking the room. This should not be a surprise upon arrival. 5 day stay= 50 bucks to pay for someone else's special diet

I had a late arrival flight, when I got to the desk to rent my car that I had booked a couple weeks…read morein advance, they informed me they could not rent to me because I was on the do not rent list. I was told, nothing I can do, I can't give you a car because it looks like something is in collections and you aren't current on your payments. I asked if it was this facility or in all the U.S., I was told nationwide. I was provided a phone number to call, along with a reservation number that pit me on the do not rent list and told, you aren't getting it resolved tonight, you will need to find a different way around. I informed the guy that I thought that was weird, and asked if he was sure because three days prior I had just rented in a different location, and a month prior to that as well with no issues. I was told, everything matches your license to the T. I can't help you. Next morning I called the number he gave, and they informed me that I was NOT on the list, and that the reservation I was provided also was not tied to my name and I should have been able to pick up the car. I called the local rental place and informed them what corporate said and I was asked to come in to see what they could do (mind you, I had no car yet). I ended up renting a vehicle at a different rental agency, away from the airport. When I arrived and spoke with the lady, she looked and said, I don't see you on the do not rent list. I think the guy last night looked at the system wrong, ir Was an honest mistake. Honest mistake it may have been, but a few things here: 1. I'd like to point out that the guy was not "nice" or "quiet" about it either. others standing around could hear everything, and everyone was staring at me. Quite embarrassing when I wasn't in the mist in the first place. 2. I was offered no advice to get to my location at 1:00a.m. 3. He did not slow down or take a second look at the screen to see if he made an error. 4. He did not show or inform me as to why I was on the list, even though I just got down renting a car 3 days prior. 5. Next day, when it was confirmed I was not on the list, I was not provided anything for my troubles. Nothing for having to wait at an hour at the airport waiting for a taxi to come get me and paying more money out of my pocket for the taxi, nothing for my time I had to spend trying to figure out why I was on the do not rent list, which I wasn't on it. nothing for having to pay another taxi to go to a different rental agency to get a car to go back to Avis and talk with them. 6. Since I was forced to not rent at Avis, I had to cancel my reservation that occurs cancellation fees if not done in a reasonable time. 7. I then had to send an email off to customer service to make sure they won't charge me fees, more time stolen from me. I have yet to see if I will be charged for a car i had to cancel because they refused to rent to me. I would never rent from Avis if it were up to me. However, because it's a business trip, I am forced to use them. Now I have a different dilemma in which I have to retain all objective evidence to file a claim through my company so I can get reimbursed for the car I did get. This isn't the first time I've had issues :-(
